The White Swan

On the bright side, they do have relatively cheap beer. I'm not sure that makes up for it being an extreme dive in a creepy looking part of town, with limited parking. I did see a really good band play here, but the house sound guy kept falling asleep so there is a chance they could have sounded even better. The stage looks pretty cramped for any more than a three person band.

The White Swan is definitely a dive.  The bands that play here tend to be top-notch for my musical tastes, and so this is why I don't mind coming back.  It's not too large of a venue, but if you want to thrash out, this place doesn't mind.  This is exactly what's really needed for a night of fun.

The bar is cash only, so make sure you bring plenty of it with you if you're heading here.  Don't expect something too fancy, as the selection here is pretty limited and there is no beer on tap.  This is certainly not the place to be if you're a beer snob like me.  There are some tables you can sit at, while you drink your Budweiser.

There are pool tables in the back, but they look like they haven't actually been used in decades.  Bands usually just set-up merch there.  Don't mind the old piano off to the side either.  The bathroom is probably one of the smallest I've seen, but it gets the job done when you've had a few.  Overall, not bad, but it's got nothing on Walter's.

Do not expect high end, high class kinda place, you either like it or you dont. keep an open mind. This is one of the oldest bar venues in Houston, kept to its roots. Cheap drinks, awsome staff, big screen TV for sports, old school Juke Box. Really good house band, just make sure you bring cash or a debit card for the ATM machine. already played two shows here and really liked it.
