The  Wild Horse Cafe

Tried the new Wild Horse in Beverly the other night. We never liked the place before so when we heard they had new owners we decided to give it a try. It's cleanup and cozy enough but pretty much empty of patrons, maybe 12-15 people.
The menu is odd and nothing really stood out as something I wanted to try.
I settled on the swordfish taco. It was very disappointing, maybe 4-5 small cubes of swordfish, and who deep fries swordfish? It was served with a teacup size bowl with coldslaw and diced tomatoes and three cold mini soft tacos. At best the serving was for an appetizer, but even a very bland poorly done one at that. $15.95 really?

No won't be back

First time going there since it was sold.  Went for lunch with some coworkers.
I could not wait to get the nachos as they used to be the best there, but to my disappointment, they were the run of the mill microwaved nachos with steel chips and  half melted cheese.  While our lunch meals were good,  I was surprised at how long it took for 5 sandwiches.  1.5 hrs for lunch.  I should have realized why it was so slow when we got there.  You cannot get in and out in a timely fashion for lunch break

My husband and I went here years ago with friends and never returned.  It was filthy, the menu was random and truly lacking anything we wanted, and although the couches and upholstered chairs were charming, the springs were so old and worn that one of our friends looked like a wee one sitting in his seat.

When we heard of the new ownership we decided to give it another try.  We liked it so much, it has turned into a weekly visit.  The service we have received has been outstanding.  The owner, Matt, has always greeted us, as well as checked in to make sure we are satisfied with our food.   Our servers have been personable and efficient.   Huge difference from the old Wild Horse.  I am honestly surprised by all the reviews touting how great it was and how it is no longer.  We found the complete opposite! The renovations look fantastic.  It is still charming, but now it is also clean and no one will get the "kids' chair".  Fun menu with great selection of burgers, appetizers, main dishes.  And by the way, the jalapeno poppers are amazing!!!!!!!
