Tried the new Wild Horse in Beverly the other night. We never liked the place before so when we heard they had new owners we decided to give it a try. It's cleanup and cozy enough but pretty much empty of patrons, maybe 12-15 people.
The menu is odd and nothing really stood out as something I wanted to try.
I settled on the swordfish taco. It was very disappointing, maybe 4-5 small cubes of swordfish, and who deep fries swordfish? It was served with a teacup size bowl with coldslaw and diced tomatoes and three cold mini soft tacos. At best the serving was for an appetizer, but even a very bland poorly done one at that. $15.95 really?
No won't be back
First time going there since it was sold. Â Went for lunch with some coworkers.
I could not wait to get the nachos as they used to be the best there, but to my disappointment, they were the run of the mill microwaved nachos with steel chips and  half melted cheese.  While our lunch meals were good,  I was surprised at how long it took for 5 sandwiches.  1.5 hrs for lunch.  I should have realized why it was so slow when we got there.  You cannot get in and out in a timely fashion for lunch break
My husband and I went here years ago with friends and never returned. Â It was filthy, the menu was random and truly lacking anything we wanted, and although the couches and upholstered chairs were charming, the springs were so old and worn that one of our friends looked like a wee one sitting in his seat.
When we heard of the new ownership we decided to give it another try. Â We liked it so much, it has turned into a weekly visit. Â The service we have received has been outstanding. Â The owner, Matt, has always greeted us, as well as checked in to make sure we are satisfied with our food. Â Our servers have been personable and efficient. Â Huge difference from the old Wild Horse. Â I am honestly surprised by all the reviews touting how great it was and how it is no longer. Â We found the complete opposite! The renovations look fantastic. Â It is still charming, but now it is also clean and no one will get the "kids' chair". Â Fun menu with great selection of burgers, appetizers, main dishes. Â And by the way, the jalapeno poppers are amazing!!!!!!!
This place is very unassuming from the outside, no real signage, and then I walk into a very cozy/quaint looking restaurant. Â The bar is to your right, the main dining area to your left.
We get seated against the wall, I plop myself into a very comfy sofa like chair (thumbs up) while my date sits across from me. Â The servers all seem quite friendly and warm.
Alright enough of the bullshit, let's get down to the food!  My meal was less than desirable.  I opted for the "composed" small salad with salmon on top.  They basically use the local fresh offerings of the day to construct a salad = super fresh.  Plus it's a surprise since you don't know what the salad will consist of....this was an EPIC FAIL.  So it arrives and the salmon is sitting on an astronomical amount of blue cheese dressing that is smothering some overly oiled grilled lettuce.....UGH!!!!!!  Oh and the best part, try cutting the lettuce and chomping on what feels like "sand/dirt" in your mouth, not very appealing I might add (not properly cleaned and could be considered an innocent mistake).  The salmon looked quite pretty and tasted OK, nothing special at all.  The tomatoes were surprisingly good and had a slight sweetness to them.  There were also blue cheese crumbles and mini grapes (cute touch and adds a bite of sweet against the savory).  With so many things that were not well executed in this dish as a whole, and the dirt/sand in the mouth....there  are simply no excuses, you can't come back from that.
Date got the smoked burger.........HOLY EFFIN SHIT! Â Now THAT was good.... So I would totally come back for that lol. Â It was cooked to perfection and was sooooo deliciously juicy....Mmmmmm. Â One meal was a success!
So now that I'm home writing this review....I believe I'll make myself some pasta, since CLEARLY, I'm still hungry...
I LOVED this place when the old owners had it. However, we just finished our first meal there since the new owners have ha it and it was atrocious! I don't have enough terrible things to say about this place.
1-hostess sat three people at the biggest booth in the place. It was awkward, uncomfortable, and defeated the reason for dining together.
2- let me explain something to you about menus, they're supposed to be cohesive. Duck, burgers, yellowtail, risotto, aoli, burrito, taco, Thai (Thai fries? Wtf) the chef is obviously demented. The menu being so odd, and varied made it seemingly impossible to order.
3- we ended up getting poppers and risotto for apps. Salmon in a jalapeño popper? We thought we'd try it out of curiosity and it was FOUL and the risotto tasted like what I imagine cat food would taste like.
4- burgers arrive. We were splitting burgers. This had to be by far the greasiest thing I have ever touched. Each of us got up to wash out hands several times throughout the meal and couldn't even finish half of the burger without being nauseated.
5- in my defense, we would have gotten salads, but they all sounded dull and not worth going out for. I could have easily prepared those at home for a quarter of the price per serving.
We left feeling sick, and in complete agreement that we would never go back.
Only PROS- the bartender wasn't terrible, and the waitress we liked was still there which made the experience tolerable.
Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. What a terrible restaurant this has turned into. Such a shame.
Just... no.
Poor (bar) service (gratingly bad, on the borderline of ignorant), confused menu, mediocre dishes... as awkward and nearly distressing dining experience as we've had. Our list includes a horrible sour smell upon entering, as though a ripe pot of kimchi had been unearthed then spilled on the floor; crusty-yet-dishwater-wet appetizer plates set in front of us; flatware taken away and not replaced between courses; etc. Now, here's the weird part - our daughter ordered the kids' portion hamburger. It arrived as a cut-in-half full-sized hamburger. Where was the other half!? Did the cook eat it? Was it to be held under the lamp until an unsuspecting child made a similar order later in the evening? Welp, no use going on and on about it. Suffice to say we won't return. We're sorry Yelp, for ignoring all the recent one-star reviews. We should have known better. It won't happen again.
My boyfriend and I were celebrating his promotion, and the Wild Horse was the perfect choice. Â We started with the thai fries and oooh my gosh they were so addicting. We had to ask the waitress to wrap them up for us after about 10 minutes because the plate could have easily served 4-6. So much cheese, and peanut sauce - sounds weird, but I promise you'll love them. I had the salmon which was cooked nicely with butter beans, clams, and chorizo. He had the ribeye which was amazing. Cooked a perfect medium rare, and seasoned excellently. We passed on dessert, as we wanted espresso and they only offer coffee. The waitress was friendly and accommodating. We will most definitely be back!
Review Source:We came in on Memorial Day weekend and the place was hopping! Â The new look is great, very open and has a fresh clean feel. Â So happy to see the Haddock Burrito on the menu!! Â The menu overall looked great, we just came in for apps so I will definitely go back to try some of the other updated things. Â The brussel sprouts should come with a theme song they are so good...a MUST try. Â Clay was our server, we sat in he bar, and he rocked! Â Even though it was super busy, he was really attentive, friendly and funny and kept our glass full. Â Matt greeted us and thanked us for coming in, lots to be proud of. Â Great job guys!! Â See you again soon!
Review Source:Just re-opened! The new decor is clean, updated and welcoming! I was shocked to see how much this place has improved. The menu is very nice and the quality of food was impressive! I would recommend dinning here and if you have not seen the new improvements, you are missing out. The staff was very friendly, professional and at tentative. I had a very nice experience eating here and enjoying my wife's company.
Review Source:Ever since it changed owners it went down hill. Nachos are HORRIBLE (Cold and the cheese was not melted). Service was HORRIBLE. I even had to approach the bar toget my own ice for my drink. the waitress was no where to be seen! The drinks have also gone down hill! The Hot and Dirty Martini was too salty; there was far too much brine, and far too little booze!
The new owners need to step it up
New ownership ruined what USED to be a great place. Bad management also: they were out of 2 of their most popular dishes on a Saturday night. Tiny tiny portions, including shrunken martinis and a wine pour that rivaled a tasting rather than an actual glass. It's too bad because we really used to like the place. We won't be going back.
Review Source:Under the previous owner, this was our go to spot. We always had a very good meal with good service and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere.
We went again last night. My wife and I both agreed that the Wild Horse has dropped a few notches.
I asked for a Makers Mark with water on the side. The waiter brought the drink without the water. I asked a second time and he brought me a second glass of ice water as opposed to the small carafe of water for my drink.
We then had an uninspired Caesar Salad. We asked for anchovies. My wife was given a small dish with a single anchovy.
We both ordered beef short ribs. The serving was two good size pieces of meat off the bone served with a mild gravy and creamy horseradish. We both thought the dish was not very flavorful and had done much better with this dish ourselves at home.
Overall, the meal was ok. This is disappointing because it used to be great.
Love this place! I went back for the third time last night and service was great. The staff knew my name and reservation right when I walked in the door. The food is delicious and plentiful and arranged really appetizing-ly on your plate. While the menu is a bit pricey, it's totally worth it. The ambiance is classy, chic and quaint. I feel like I'm dining in an upscale traditional New England home. The artwork on the walls is classic. The only thing I might recommend is keeping the lights a bit higher. It can be a bit finster. I will definitely be returning! This is my go-to place on the Northshore.
Also, the martini list is to die for!!! They have the best drinks.
My wife and I decided to have a nice night out and instead of going to our regular place, we thought we'd try the new Wild Horse. It was a fantastic decision.
The interior decor is great. I would say it's perfectly romantic. Nice little tables with comfy chairs. We got sat right next to the fireplace which was perfect.
My wife and I had the nachos to start and the fried brussel sprouts. Absolutely fantastic on both counts. We each had a Crispin cider poured in a tall Crispin glass. We love this little touch of having a draught beer/cider served in it's matching glass.
For dinner I had the steak and my wife had the most gloriously named item ever: porkporkpork. Yes, that's right... pork pork pork. Why Pork Pork Pork? simple... it's 3 ways of pork. Fried kale cooked with Bacon. Pork shoulder cooked in a Moxie BBQ and... something else, I forgot... This is why you need to write reviews after you eat and not two weeks later.
Either way, the food was fantastic and my wife and I left highly satisfied. Service was fantastic and we loved our waitress. Will definitely go back again.
I ate here with my parents and family as they were in town for a visit and we wanted to go somewhere different so per a suggestion from a friend we opted to try it out. Â This was more than a few months ago keep in mind.
In that time or even prior to apparently the restaurant had quietly been for sale by the owner and I'm not sure if things just got lost in translation or what but the duck duo that I was served with coriander crust, confit and blueberry sauce etc did not live up to my expectations.
The coriander crust was burned which meant that they didn't take the time to render the fat out of the breast correctly and in the process try to hurry it thereby burning it. Â The confit was magically dry as a bone and though I like it crispy it appeared that the herbs they used when it was confitted had not been removed very well as they were left on the leg/thigh for me to eat (also dried out might I add.) Â The blueberry sauce was lumpy and though I get that it is a more rustic tavern-y place the sauce had practically congealed by the time I got the plate though the plate was ripping hot as well.
I politely informed our server of the egregious errors with the dish and simply asked to have it remade or substitute for the scallops over pasta which was what ended up coming back to me. Â Service was a bit slow and by the time we had sunken into the plush pillows where we were sitting the entirety of my experience seemed wasted as did my money.
I'll chalk it up to a simple rough night but hopefully get a chance to give it another try.
Several years ago, I learned about the Wild Horse Café (although I can't remember where or how), but have been wanting to try it ever since.  So, in between the recent snowstorms, my wife and I adventured out and made the short trip down to the North Shore.  The restaurant was easy enough to find, but parking can be somewhat of a challenge.  I later learned that there is a small parking lot across the street for restaurant goers.
Entering the restaurant reminded me of being at someones home; it was cozy with an open kitchen. Â I love watching the food being prepared and the commotion going on in the kitchen. Â The hostess was nice, as was our waitress. Â If we weren't meeting another couple, we would have sat at the bar where I would have sampled a few of the micro-brews offered on the menu.
Anyway, my wife and I started with a Caesar Salad. Â It had the right amount of seasoning and was freshly prepared. Â As the main meal, my wife ordered the Panko Crusted Haddock and I the Pulled Pork Sandwich. Â The haddock was covered in the perfect amount of Panko crumbs, and the mashed potatoes were awesome. Â My Pulled Pork Sandwich had the right amount of sweetness and spiciness, and the French fries were fantastic. Â The best part of the sandwich was the grilled artisan bread used to contain all the pulled pork. Â Topping it all off, we shared Wood Grilled Bananas for dessert. Â I've never had wood grilled bananas, but anything paired with ice cream and caramel syrup will be tasty, and this certainly fit the bill.
I will definitely be back to sample more of the items offered on the Casual Fare menu, along with some of the others beers.
As a Wild Horse regular, I was at first a little worried when I learned the Wild Horse was going to be under new management. Until I learned that Matt Blanchard was part of the deal. Matt and his family were key to making 15 Walnut an inviting, community restaurant, and they've brought their warmth directly to Wild Horse. Â
I went back for the first time last night after the re-opening. Â In my opinion, Wild Horse is even better than before. Â When I first heard about the change, I was part of the "please keep the nachos" crew. Â The nachos have been a split-for-dinner staple of friends and I for the past few years. Last night was my first night back and I learned that the nachos are a little different - but I'd say better! Â The chips are thinner, but taste crisper and fresher. The nachos were loaded with toppings, and as a usually severe guacamole critic (it's the Mexican in me), I was impressed. Â
My table also had the mussels, which were delicious, as were our drinks. Â We finished the night with an incredible blueberry bread pudding - the best bread pudding I can remember eating. Â
It was clear last night that the staff and management wanted to make sure that everyone had the best dining experience possible. Â And we did! Â Nice job Matt and Sam!
So sad that this place closed and is now under new management. I haven't dined in the dining room and mostly sit in the bar. The martini's are pretty good here- I really like the amount of options they had and the food is actually pretty good. I would talk about what to get here but sadly I'm not sure what the new restaurant would turn into.Given the really good experience I had before I'll probably be checking it out!
Review Source:Due to the food being fantastic here, I came back for another run. The service was a little better than previously. Although my girl ordered a mojito, and had to send it back because the wilted browned mint wasn't crushed and it looked like it was picked off a crack in the sidewalk on Cabot Street, plus the drink tasted like kerosene. We asked the waitress to take it back in exchange for another drink and she acted like we had 6 heads. The wine list is still lousy. They need to add more wines from Europe. They still have the mediocre ones from Australia, and Argentina. I say this becuase the food here is top notch. Essentially it is so good, that I bumped this up to a 4 star. This place could easily be a 5 star establishment if they would just deal with the service and wine issue. They have a great selection or beers and Martinis, so improving the wine selection would only be natural.
One other note. If you want to get better service and treatment, it seems you need a reservation. If you are a walk in, you get the attitude from the staff from the get go.
Been living in Beverly for 1/2 year and finally made it over to BC's Wild Horse. Wish I went sooner. We sat at a bar table and ate there. They have good draught beers and have some rotating specials. We had the Nacho's (not potato) and they were some of the best I have had. Portions were yuge, probably finshed half. The GF also had the girl scout martini which looked a little mello for me but she liked.
It has good feel to it, and our service was fine. We got taken care of and our waitress was nice.
We will for sure be coming back.
We decided to celebrate our anniversary here on whim instead of venturing into Boston. It turned out to be a great choice!
Wild Horse has warm and cozy feel (which is echoed at their sister restaurant/pub in Salem, too). I like how their were comfy chairs that suited a living room more than a dining room. We were lucky to get a nice corner table too.
Our food was great - had the salmon special and pork shoulder. The portions were larger than expected so we didn't have room for dessert. The bread and entrees left us plenty full. The specialty cocktails were yummy. They have a great selection of beer and wine. If you are a martini lover-- they have at least 25 different martinis on their regular menu.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. We will definitely be back.
This review is for a late night round of drinks and snack.
Great atmosphere, friendly waitstaff, good and original food, great beer list. The only down side was that some of the beers listed weren't available. All this said, we were there late night and it wasn't busy so the wait staff wasn't trying to turn tables.
Great atmosphere, pleasant and professional service. Food? Meh. Drinks are yummy. Some items on their menu are excellent but it's kind of a crap shoot which for the price is a bummer. I had a wild mushroom soup once that was delicious upon first spoonful but became saltier and saltier until I couldn't eat it anymore. The pub menu is better because it is cheaper so I can justify the fact that the food isn't the greatest. I will go back though which is more than I can say for their sister restaurant The Old Spot (Salem).
UPDATE #1: Had an absolutely top notch, deelicious meal with excellent service. Have to add a star otherwise I'll feel guilty
UPDATE #2: We really enjoy this restaurant, food is consistently good and service is excellent. Kids love it. Wish it was cheaper!
Just returned from a fun and relaxing girls night out.
Atmosphere: very comfortable and homey - fireplace, couches, love seats, candlelight. Â Sometimes the music selection was a little odd and it was hard to read the menus because it was a little too dark. Â
Beverages: great martini list, my friend tried the Hollywood martini.
Food: to sum it up, we all cleaned our plates. Â I had the Caesar salad and Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli. Â Both were great, the ravioli was a little sweeter than expected, even with the apples and crumbled blue cheese. My friends had a Garden Salad topped with the Crab Cake and the Wood Grilled Chicken Sandwich.
Nice neighborhood restaurant, spacious bar area if looking for something more casual. Â FYI: live music on Mondays.
We were not impressed by The Wild Horse at all. Â I'll say right up front the service was fine. Â It was the food that was quite unremarkable for a place that tries to be upscale and trendy. Â
The Good. Â We went with my husband's parents and brother to celebrate a combined Father's Day/Birthday. Â The low-lit dining room had an open feel that was rather comfortable. Â I wasn't sold on the old-timey couch that I sat on while eating my meal, but it was different than the norm, so I'm cool with that. Â Between the five of us, we sampled an array of items on the menu. Â I have to say the calamari appetizer was probably the best thing I ate all night - served with cold sesame noodles, it had a nice thai flavor to it. Â Also, the fondue was quite enjoyable - the cheese had a mild flavor and the dippers (bread, apple, and ham) went well together. Â Aside from not knowing about the menu offerings (apparently they had just changed the menu the night before, and she typically worked at another location), our waitress was very bubbly and attentive. Â No faults there.
The Bad. Â Eh, everything else. Â I am not a picky eater by any means, and when I have difficulty selecting an entree (i.e. "settle on" something), then I know there's trouble. Â They had mostly standard items like a chicken, lamb, beef, fish, etc, but the sides they were paired with were less to be desired. Â My husband settled on the lamb, which in itself was good, but the all-barley "risotto" with apricots and raisins was too sweet and really did not compliment the lamb at all. Â I settled on the salmon, which was on the dry side, but in this case the side dish (mashed potato croquettes) was really good. Â My father-in-law tried the steak which came smothered in a tomato sauce that did not look appealing. Â All of the entrees came with the same vegetable medley of carrots and zucchini, which was kind of bland.
No reason to ever go back.
The service I experienced last night was disgraceful, particularly at an establishment that boasts an eclectic and somewhat elegant dining experience. My dining companions and I selected the Wild Horse to celebrate a dual family birthday because of the positive reviews we heard about the excellent food and drink. Those reviews were spot on because the food was delicious and the drinks were also tasty. It was the customer service and the attitude of the management that was a complete turn off.
One of my dining companions ordered "the quesadilla", she did not specify the kind of quesadilla because from reading the menu she thought it came with chicken AND vegetables. To her chagrin, it was merely chicken and cheese when it arrived. She discreetly asked the waiter why there were no vegetables and he told her it was a choice of chicken and cheese OR sauteed vegetables. Too bad the word "or" was in 8 point font on the menu and clearly difficult to read for anyone over the age of 18. Rather than just saying apologizing for the confusion, the waiter came back to say my companion would have to pay for the additional quesadilla according to the manager. We asked to talk to the manager who essentially mocked my companion and said she could get the menu for us to look at it. Obviously flawless customer service and guaranteed customer satisfaction is not a priority at the Wild Horse.
Her attitude was completely unprofessional and her thought process was severely lacking because the restaurant more or less lost upwards of $100 for splitting hairs about $5? worth of sauteed vegetables. The party of SEVEN of us would have stayed for more drinks, coffee, and dessert but instead we finished up and paid our bill because of that behavior.
In the end, the food was delicious, kudos to the chef, but there is a lot of work that needs to be done in the front of the house.
For the first 2 and a half years that I lived in Beverly, I avoided this restaurant. Â I had heard some bad things about the place, but I couldn't really be sure who had told me and if it was true. Â I mean..I had heard some REALLY bad things....things that had nothing to do with food or service.
One night, my husband and I decided to eat in the bar. Â It was fantastic. Â They have a great beer list and a nice selection of pub food. Â I would definately go back there again. Â In fact, we've been to the pub one other time. Â The dining room is a whoel different experiece. Â They really want their dining room to be separate from the pub. Â That's not my kind of style, in fact, I like eating dinner in the bar area. Â With that said, I really loved the dining area. Â The seats are cozy with cushions and they decor is really cozy. Â Everything from my appetizer to my dessert were fantastic. Â My husband and I shared the cheese fondue and it could have served a party of 6! Â I got the salmon and they cooked it to perfection. Â
I would definately come back here for a special occasion. Â I reccomend a nice bottle of wine, the cheese fondu, and a seafood dish. Â YUM!
Wild horses could keep me away...
Underwhelming! That is how I described my experience here at BCWHC. The staff was fine and the beer was great. Try the Hoegaarden if you get the chance. Tasty! The food was just OK. This was  a disappointment. I mean common fellow yelpers I took your word on this one!
I had the Caesar Salad to start. The Greens were fine but the house dressing was forgettable and the croûtons were stale-no crunch whatsoever! I went with the house rib dinner and they were cooked fine but the sauce left no impression with me. I thought wow what bland tasting ribs - were is the baby rays bbq sauce!?
Plus I have a pet peeve most high end and wannabe high end places lump all the food together on the plate. Â I am a keep it separate low end type of guy. I want my ribs, coleslaw and taters separated not lumped in a pile up. I am just neurotic like that.
The place was cozy which is a buzz word for cramped. The bar keeps were fair. Actually they annoyed me a bit, if I am sitting at the bar my cup better runneth over. I wanted too long for the drink and was never asked how my food was. Dessert wasn't offered either. The final bill was also slow in arriving. BCWHCV was just ok. That is my story and I am sticking to it!
Since moving to Beverly, Â the Wild Horse Cafe is always my husband's and my choice for any occasion at all--birthdays? Of course! A night out with friends?...They have to get in on the Wild Horse scene as well! The Wild Horse bar menu is legendary for crave-able and genuinely high-end food; their ribs and hamburger (who knew a wood grill would make that dramatic of a difference?) are well worth their affordable prices, and the Caesar salads would fill two people easily. Get there early if you want to get a seat---their bar is rather on the small size and is packed to standing room only very quickly.
Their drink menu his quite extensive and eclectic; the beers they rotate on tap are always unique and you can often get a Corsendonk, Â DogFish Head Raison D'Etre, or Chimay. From a Mojito Martini to a Girl Scout Cookie, there hasn't been one that I haven't raved about the day after.
Their dining room menu is definitely pricey--entrees generally run around upwards of twenty dollars but believe you me that they are worth it. Swordfish, Fillet Mignon, Duck...every culinary creation that has come out of Brendon Crocker's kitchen has been worth every penny and more. The atmosphere is just right for an intimate dinner with a spouse or friends--the low lighting and antique couches and pillows add an atmospheric flair that cannot be matched. But, above all, leave room for their Hunka Hunka Chocolate Love, the most delectable chocolate cake in the world. THAT is what I think of when I think of the definitive chocolate confection and don't let it's 10$ price tag deter you...It's the perfect ending to a perfect meal that you're practically guaranteed to receive.
Wild Horse Cafe is one of those hidden gems you stumble on or get dragged to one evening by a friend. Â Their atmosphere is out of place for the town. Â However, that is what makes their business fit in so great and attract such a diverse yet fun crowd.
Don't expect a meat market, because the crowd is usually a mix of local business folk, down to earth college kids and friends looking for a great time to spend their evening.
The food is great, we have sampled so far a good selection of their main menu as well as their after hours bar menu. Â The menus offer a wide range of choices, which are primarily oriented towards a fusion of one or more normal cooking styles. Â The after hours menu is one of our favorites though. Â The potato nachos, made with home made kettle cooked potato chips is not to be missed, nor is the wonderful pulled pork sandwich of which both can easily feed two if not three people or more. Â The bar fair tends to be around $10, which for the presentation and quality of the food is more than reasonable. Â Watch out as entrees can run your tab up very quickly. Â However, they are fairly original, very tastey and portioned correctly.
Wow... I was pretty sure all the previous reviewers we're still intoxicated when they wrote their reviews, but... they were spot on.
Who thought you could find a place like this in the 'burbs? It's underwhelming from the outside, but once you open the door you're swept up in a great scene. We arrived 30 minutes early for a 7:30pm dinner reservation (Sat night) and walked into a bar scene right out of Boston. Cocktails and beer selection are amazing, bar food looked good and the crowd was laid back.
Dinner was great. Four of us split the cheese fondue for two and it was plenty for the group. We also split the panko scallops, which were very tasty. For dinner we went for the specials; a coffee encrusted sirloin was very large and cooked perfectly, the mahi-mahi and haddock were good too (there were about 50 olives with the haddock dish, which seemed like overkill). We finished with a chocolate cake with caramel, which was massive. No really, it was MASSIVE... too much for four people that just enjoyed a nice dinner out on the north shore.
Everyone wants to go back, if even just to have the nachos and a couple of beers on a weeknight.
Dining room eating is wonderful!
The chairs are comfy (or couches, depending on your table), and the ambience is really nice.
The food is quite good. We had the cheese fondue appetizer, and it was very impressive. It's always fun to do fondue! ;o) I had the duck for dinner, which was also quite good. They prepared the duck in three different ways.
The service was excellent! We had an attentive waitress and she was very accomodating and down-to-earth. She really gave us the attention we needed without hovering.
Wild Horse Cafe on Route 1A in Beverly is a hidden gem buried in the corner of bustling downtown Beverly. Â
The entrees are a bit pricey and the service appears to be busy and rushed but normally with a smile. Â Your friendly, and occasionally not so friendly bartenders, have a wonderful selection of select European and local brews. Â The selection of beer ranges from Lindeman's Framboise to Sam Adams and Budweiser. Â They also boast an impressive selection of martinis. The list appears to be over 20 different selections from a traditional dirty martini to a girl scout cookie martini.
Beverly residents and patrons alike rave about the bar menu. Â The prices are a bit more reasonable to the student, bar hopper and one interested in catching the Sox at the bar and a few beverages. Â The 1/2 Rack of Ribs melt right of the bone and the Chicken Nachos are unparalleled.
The atmosphere at the Wild Horse Cafe is relaxed with contemporary jazz, blues, rock and the occasional live band during the evening hours. Â The weekends bring in the crowds and the bar area can be hard to find a place to relax on a Friday or Saturday evening
This swanky bar and restaurant are a prize to the North Shore and a must experience for anyone in the area.
