I like the Windsor. However, I also like being skinny. Naturally, I'm a bit torn about this place. The beer prices are reasonable (although the selection is average), the atmosphere is very dive-y, and the burgers. Oh God, the burgers.
Serving sizes here are absurdly large. Seriously, I got $10 of food for $6.95. Â I ordered a Big Mama, which is a 3/4 burger with BBQ sauce, ham, bacon, and other stuff. The sauce was a little runny, but I was honestly a little disappointed in the burger meat itself. The meat tasted very typical. Nothing really set it apart from Louie's or even Swensons. Fries are $1 extra, but they serve you the equivalent of a large fry from McDonald's. The fries did not disappoint: while they were probably not homemade, I can accept that. They were above-average -- not too greasy for yours truly.
They also have a food challenge here. If you can eat a 3-pound burger with fries in under 30 minutes, your prize is an untimely death. And maybe a shirt.
While the burgers here disappointed me slightly, the Windsor overall left me satisfied.
This is a working class joint full of regulars. Â It's not pretty and you're going to smell like a hamburger when you leave, but the food is amazing and the prices are too. Â Love the Windsor Jr. with wedges, but the fries are really good too. Â I have seen children there during the day, but I'm not bringing mine! Â We always have a good time at The Windsor.
