Love LOVE LOVE The Pourhouse! It is our favorite wine bar in Livermore (and there are several!). The service is friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. I love their menu and selection of wines. The bubbly flight is a must! Very supportive of local wineries and brewers. Plus fun events such as an 80s night and wine tasting classes.
Review Source:I went after work with a colleague and we had a lovely time. Â We were the only people in the place, for a while, so we could talk and drink our flight (the other whites- with a Fenestra riesling, and Eagle Ridge pinot grigio, and something else I can't remember). Â The flight was generous, and delicious. Â We had the sampler appetizer platter with it- which was excellent. Â Giant bowl of hummus, 2 dates stuffed with blue cheese and wrapped in bacon (yum) and delicious crostini. Â Really nicely done. Â We had a great time, and I can't wait to go back.
Review Source:A really awesome wine bar in the heart of Livermore downtown. Â The owners were terrific as was their staff. Â Everyone was really friendly and we had a great evening hanging out.
They have a vast selection of wine and their food is delicious! Â It's a great date night or a night to just hang out with friends.
Usually I work from coffeeshops, but on Fridays, I like to work from wine bars. It's my new thing. A little afternoon vino helps grease my gears and makes zero-ing the inbox so much easier!
Anyway, Abby S and I chose The Winemakers Pourhouse as our wine & work spot for the day. At 3pm, there were just a handful of people in so we were able to grab a nice cozy table with bench seats near the window. The menu was exactly what we were looking for: wine, meat & cheese (basically). I promptly noticed the Tiny Bubbles flight for only $8. Three little glasses of bubbles for $8 - are you kidding me? I'll have three please! All the wines are from Livermore Valley, so you'll get a hyper-local experience compared to your typical wine bar.
The food was also super affordable. For $18 we got the Charcuterie Platter, with enough cured meats, dried fruit, Spanish olives, nuts, cheese, honey & mustard to share (or barely finish). Service was so attentive and welcoming and let us linger as long as we needed. Exactly the way I like to feel when I'm indulging in some workday juice - like nobody's buggin' me. Â
The rustic brick walls and sturdy wood tables make this a very comfy spot to do your sippin'. Of course, leaving your laptop at home is ideal, but props to them for welcoming a both of workaholics & wineaholics like us!
I stopped in and had a red wine tasting menu anchored by an excellent Cuda Ridge Malbec as well as an appetizer tasting menu. I sat out in front and was the only customer in the place. The service was friendly but got just a little scarce toward the end of the meal. That said, great menu, great wine list and a great vibe. I want to come back with my girlfriend and try the excellent looking sunny back patio.
This is a must try. I'm holding back one star for having to go hunt down the check at the end but I'm sure they can be a 5 star establishment.
Yay Livermore!
My husband and I really enjoy coming here- we love the music they have and they serve local Livermore wines at a reasonable price. They have good flatbread pizza and an awesome cheese plate- it's perfect for a relaxed evening out for a light dinner and good music! The back courtyard is particularly nice in the Spring and Summer.
Review Source:Finally...a wine bar that has live music that is perfect for the venue (aka not too loud and folksy.) AND even more to the point.... one that serves food! Â I believe wine should always be served with food because they really enhance one another. Most wine bars don't seem to get this.To add to the fun, whenever the band took a break they had some trivia questions where the patrons yelled out answers to things like,"What is the only food that doesn't spoil?" (Honey) No one in my group won, but we had a good time yelling out silly answers. I think the prize for a correct answer was a $5 coupon for your next visit. Smart marketing.
We sat at the bar and watched the young, cool looking, staff as they heated up flatbread pizzas that both smelled and looked wonderful. We tried the hummus/tapenade plate which my friend must have really liked because she practically licked her plate clean. We also had the homemade chocolate bark, with pumpkin pie spices, chipotle, & almonds. Tasty. I can't wait to try the stuffed, bacon wrapped, dates next time. If they're still on the menu, apparently it changes often. Which  is a good sign in my book.
The wines featured here are all from the Livermore area, which gives this place a local authenticity. We tried the red flight called, "The Cabernet Parade" and a white flight called, "The Bouquet of Chardonnay" Â The pours were generous and all the wine was quite nice. Oh, yes, I will be back!
Very cute wine bar in downtown Livermore! Every time I find myself across the San Mateo Bridge, I can't help but thinking how quaint this part of the East Bay really is.
Believe it or not, Nique F and I stopped in here to have a meeting/get some work done. One might ask, "Who gets anything accomplished in a wine bar?" Well folks, surprisingly enough, we both can get 'er done when surrounded by delicious vino and cheese plates. Might I even be bold enough to say we work a little bit better with a glass or two under our belt?
The Pourhouse offers wine by the glass, bottle or, if you can't pick just one, an extensive list of flights. Being a Nottingham Cellars fan (<a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnottinghamcellars.com%2Findex.php&s=02ce1c5f685522c2094cf69eb30caf362a2ed4ba65e9ae4271c4c31e6b2f05a7" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://nottinghamcellars…</a>), I went straight for a full glass. Why mess around when you know exactly what you want? My lovely companion went for the sparkling flight and as they brought it out, I had a twinge of drink envy across the table. Generous pours of four types of bubbly. She definitely got her money's worth!
We also shared a cheese/charcuterie plate that included a Truffle Tremor, manchego and Midnight Moon. Served with crackers and warm olives, no complaints here.
Sadly, The Winemaker's Pourhouse does not have free Wifi and the food/drinks here are on the pricey end... not really the ideal remote office space. But hey, that's not what they were designed for! Come here, drink some local wine have a delicious appetizer and appreciate the fact that we live in a beautiful part of the country that makes damn good vino!
Live music was a nice bonus at this wine bar/restaurant. Â There's lovely outdoor patio seating in the back, as well as bar and table seating in the main room. Â Food ranged from appetizers, wine accompaniments, to desserts. Â Something for everyone! Â
Staff was friendly, if a bit inefficient. Â Turkey chili was yummy and of course, the wine was good!
We haven't tried the food yet, although it looks great in the posted photos.
We visited during the Wine Festival, and our waitress, despite me explicitly telling her that I like only sweet whites- the sweeter the better- gave me something revoltingly dry. The owner, a retired Navy chief, after overhearing our conversation, jumped in and got me to try something a bit more to my taste. She then took over and served our party, doing a much better job seeing to our needs. She switched me from wine (I'm not a huge fan) to a mixed drink that they make called a "Fuzzy Wubby", and that was DELICIOUS!
We enjoyed the hospitality and will be back. Not the cheapest game in town, but a nice, relaxed atmosphere that we were drawn to. Selection isn't huge, but there seems to be a fair sampling of different wines.
I really like the decor and vibe of this place. We walked in and were greeted right away. It wasn't that busy so we seated ourselves in the back patio. Too bad it was hot, so inside we went; they had a live band too. We couldn't hear them play after traveling inside to avoid the heat though.
We had the Blushing flight, Bubbles flight, Syrah and a Cab? The Blushing was ok, I was never a fan of rose so I do not know why I bothered ordering that. However it tasted much better than other ones I've had. The bubbles flight was much better, once again not a bubbles fan but the second one from the flight was DELICIOUS. I have never tasted a sparkling wine like that one. Too bad I forgot the name =( I really should have paid attention because I definitely would want to purchase a bottle of that.
To pair with our wine we ordered the hummus, which came in a huge portion; the cheese board and the infamous S'mores Panini. Yummmm... if you like sweets definitely order this. I wish this portion was bigger.
I would frequent this place again if I am ever in town.
Lovely wine bar after wine tasting in the vineyards during the Harvest festival last weekend! Most wineries close at 4:30 so we made our way down to Winemaker's Pourhouse since it was open and also had live music. I saw their ad in the Livermore wine magazine and thought we'd give it a try. Â
The live band was great background. Latin jazzy sounds with the conga. We ordered 2 bottles of the Petite Syrah. Very nice. I thought it also reasonable priced. Great service and also when we asked for a cup of coffee (which they didn't have), our nice server offered to go to Peets and get us some. Now that is SERVICE.
Will definitely come back to this wine bar when I am in the Livermore downtown area. Centrally located to nice restaurants if you wanted to grab a bite to eat afterwards.
We frequent the Winemaker's Pourhouse at least once a week. Yesterday, we were so pleased with the special BBQ menu for the kick-off of the Harvest Festival Weekend. The place was packed and the band was awesome.
In this economy, we really appreciate an establishment that supports our local wineries and offers a nice variety of small plates. This is a great place to relax and enjoy the Livermore Valley wines.
Love this place! I learn more about wine every time I'm there.. Super knowledgable and friendly staff.
Food is always fresh and tasty, and the cheese selection is to die for! I drive from Walnut Creek probably once a week to enjoy a great evening with friends, and Ashley always takes amazing care of us!
Most likely never again.
There were two people working on a Thursday night, which was a problem in and of itself. Understaffed much?
To their credit, they were working hard. Who the eff expects their servers to also serve as kitchen staff?!?! Pourhouse, apparently. Which is why their service blows.
Wine selection is good, not great. They did let me try a couple before I bought. (Unlike some places...)
Had to ask if I could just seat myself after I ordered, because I was just standing around awkwardly.
Was not offered a food menu. Thought it was because I came in later, but two women who came in after me were given menus and the server came out to take their order.
I'm giving them an extra star out of pity because I have BEEN that server that gets yelled at because of things beyond my control (and to the rude man who was all but yelling at the server while I paid my bill: You're a douche.) and I know it sucks.
For the record, management, you only get half a star.
Horrible place to waste 90 minutes of our lives we will never get back!
We had 2 LocalGruv coupons and both times the service has been horrible.
Earlier this week the service was bad but not as bad as tonight.
Tonight we were the only dining guests and it took ONE hour to  be served.
My husband enjoyed the Cobb Salad but the portion was more like a side salad.
Then we waited and waited for the waitress to bring the bill. Â 90 Minutes to order and be served a salad and a sandwich...Pathetic at best!!!!!
I need to add that the waitress earlier this week comp'd the soda because it took 30 minutes  for her to bring it to us (only one other table of 2 in the restaurant!!!)
and tonight the waitress comp'd my sandwich because they didn't have the ingredients for my original order. Â Credit where credit is due!
Dan and I love Livermore because there are places like this to go and enjoy the evening at. Especially we are liken this wine bar because they honor Livermore Wines! Livermore has wonderful wines and we are so pleased that we can go some place, relax, have a bite to eat while sippin wine and listening to local musicians. Great location, not to big and not to small, keep up the good work ladies and we are behind you all the way!
Cheers!!!
Super nice place. Great Wine Bar. Nice ambiance. Outside seating is fun with heaters for the Chilly Fall nights. Georgi and The Rough Week band played there out back and everyone was having a great time. It was really perfect. Good fairly priced food with good portions.
Super friendly people.
Great Location
I used some LocalGruv coupons I bought last time we went. Even better!
My review is an average of my two visits.... one not so good, the other great.
My first visit here was back during the Christmas parade evening. Seems a lot of the moms had wandered in to have a glass of vino, while hubbies stayed with the kids :-). Â I had a great experience that night! Â Very friendly staff, nice little wine list... I was poured a couple of tastes before deciding, and was very happy! Â Everyone was friendly. Â I thought I'd found my next hangout. Â My bill was very reasonable.
Second visit was several weeks later, during the afternoon on a Saturday. Â The energy at this time was much lower, slower, and almost downright unfriendly/bored. Â I was like... whaaa??? Â Is this the same place??? Â I ended up ordering two glasses of the same Livermore wine I had last time, and my husband had one glass of a livermore syrah. Â Our bill was ~ $65!!! Â For 3 glasses of wine!!
I was so disappointed that I have never been back..  I have one friend who initially found their costs high, and that was back in Dec  2011 as well.  I am not sure if they have floated down from the clouds and re-figured their prices.  If so, it may be a great place to go in the evening, when the energy is running high.  But buyer beware...
Visited this great place on a quiet Monday & what a surprise! Â It was Karaoke and of course WHO doesn't LOVE a good clean FUN place to sing. Â (especially, if you're any good!) Â Had a blast and the food AND wine were exceptional!
First of all, the owners, Julie and Kelly were fab. Â They introduced themselves to me and made me feel like a wonderful addition to their family. Â They were quite generous on the food and wine. Â I ordered a dish from a gal who was a Hawaiian Chef. Â Delicious scrumptious bbq pork sliders....hellooo!!! Â GOOD-BYE VEGETARIANISM!! Â (shhh, don't tell my Vegan friends!) Â But it was quite lovely! Â It was just enough for the right price. :~) Â My wine was nice red they recommended....Agguire? Â Hmm, don't know how to spell it, but TRUST me it was da baum! Â
We ate, drank and sang! Â That night went down as one of the best night eva! Â It was a GREAT escape from the perils of 'real-life' and a welcomed 'singing-journey' to a House full of love. Â Good lovin' lives at The Winemaker's Pourhouse....so what are you waiting for...Karaoke awaits YOU!! :~)
After dinner we didn't have time for a movie but had the babysitter for another hour so we decided to check this place out. Â Flights are reasonably priced and feature Livermore and local wineries. Â Hubby and I both had a bubbly flight. Â There was a Brut, Raspberry and Almond champagne. Â We both enjoyed it and agreed that the almond was probably our favorite.
The menu looked interesting, we look forward to returning to try some of it out!
I have a question for you.....HAVE YOU BEEN TO THE WINEMAKER'S POURHOUSE???? If your answer is no....I have another question for you. WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU???? This is the most happening place in Livermore. Everything about it is great.
My only complaint would be that the space needs to be much bigger, cuz it is always packed.
Combining concept and context, The Winemaker's Pourhouse is THE current establishment to patron if you give a hoot in hell about wines from Livermore Valley. Â
(If you don't include yourself in that category, please punch yourself in the face or go play in traffic, as the rest of this review won't concern your feeble mind.)
First off, is the selection: extremely well-thought out, including varietals from the local houses that even happily surprised our group - time and effort was put into this list.
Second, is the personal touch the owner and chef gave to their flights and food pairings - including the addition of personally inquiring about our takes regarding their selections during our recent visit.
Third...nevermind with this - just go to this wine bar and have some awesome wine from local houses, of which you may never visit, but get to try anyway because someone took care and interest. Â Just go. Â
Drink good wine...drink local wine. Â Drink very good local wine.
If you're in Livermore, drink great local wine at The Winemaker's Pourhouse.
(P.S. Regarding the less than stellar reviews: please walk around for the rest of your lives with a sign that identifies you as an idiot so as to save us the time as having to tell others as such...sigh...morons...delusional morons...)
My friends and I were looking forward to my homecoming Livermore wine tasting afternoon for weeks! Then the day finally came and we couldn't decide where to go. After a very filling lunch just blocks from downtown, we collectively remembered that we could have a successful tasting afternoon without driving if we stayed Downtown. How's that for keeping it local on Main Street, right?! (Though, admittedly, I don't know how many more wine bars could arrive on First Street before the competition helps nobody).
Pourhouse was our final destination for the afternoon. At first look, the prices for the flights feel a bit steep. However, I appreciate how this business model showcases ONLY locavore (I hate the word "locavore" because I always feel like a pretentious twit when I say it, but it's appropriate in this context) wines and their flights are creatively paired. After an entire day of sampling chards and cabs, the three of us settled on the bubbly flights. Their bubbly flights were generous pours of some interesting blends of sparkling wines. To my surprise, the peach one was by far my favorite.
Like most wine bars, it should not be surprising that the food menu only has small plates. If you walk into a wine bar and expect a filling meal, you have a problem. However, the small plates offerings were also creative. From the s'mores panini to the spicy, salty pistachio chocolate to the creamy-and-soft-even-at-room-temp brie, everyone can find something they like.
The bar and wait staff were a treat too. The service certainly made for a more stellar experience.
This place was certainly my favorite wine destination yesterday.
We went to the Pourhouse a couple weeks back....when they were "soft opened" ! Â It was great to see the team in action, and the live music by Roger Kardinal. Â The menu was great, and the place was perfect combination of atmosphere that our "young adults" felt very comfortable. Â Great appetizers, try the cheese platter. Â Great dinner, try the chicken panini's (sp ?). Â Great deserts, try the smores panini's and the apricot croissant. Â The service was excellent, and we left full, happy, and satisfied.
Great job supporting the local wineries and downtown Livermore......we will definitely be back again, and again....
Super nice staff, local Livermore wines, great food, awesome art on the walls, nice patio and good friends to have lunch with makes this spot a fab place for lunch, dinner, pre or post show drinks. Â
Went for lunch - had the Chicken Parm sandwich - very yummy! Â Along with a glass of Ruby Hill Cab - great way to spend my lunchtime!
Kelly (so - owner) couldn't have been nicer! Â She went around to all the tables to check on everyone and also asked our opinion of the place! Â Nice!
So - go - and ENJOY!!
There are some places that you go to in order to fill up and go. But the Pourhouse is a place that you go to have the experience of community, new friendships, a glass of wine, good food, and the kind of environment that makes me think of the better European scenes I've watched in movies.
This is a place that you go to for a slice of life. And it's a good, warming slice. For those who don't drink, there is Pellegrino. And for those who like music, there is Saturday night. There may be other nights - I don't know - but I have been going to The Pourhouse on Saturdays for about 4 weeks now, and I can't think of where else I would want to go spend time than there. And I don't even live iin the area!
Way to go, ladies!
Clearly, some people on Yelp just don't get The Winemaker's Pourhouse.
In my experience (2 times in the last 6 days) The Pourhouse is not a place for just a glass of Livermore wines. Â If you take the time to learn about this establishment and truly understand what they are trying to do then you will see that there is no reason to rate The Pourhouse with 2 stars. Â That is simply unfair. Â
Their menu starts off with a great selection of wine flights. Â The whole point to tasting wine is to get a sample of about 2 ounces and see if you like the wine that is being poured. Â Here, you get three different wines, 2 ounces of each and they are all priced under $25. Â That is a fantastic price for a flight if you take the time to consider how much these bottles can sell for individually. Â Yes, I will agree that the wine list could be expanded upon, but hey - everyone's gotta start somewhere. Â Even Wente and Concannon weren't the biggest vineyards in California when they first started. Â Their cheese plates are simply delicious and are generously portioned.
If you truly enjoy wine and aren't looking for a Two Buck Chuck, then this place deserves your business! Â Way to go Pourhouse; easily my new favorite!
Wow! What a fantastic place that actually showcases LIVERMORE wines. And not just the big guns either - smaller places like John Evan, El Sol, and Charles R - etc.
The back patio is a place that downtown Ltown really needs. It reminds me a lot of the old alehouse back patio that was fun to lounge in.
The pourhouse is right next door to Demetri's and has a fantastic view of the fountain right outside it's window. Great natural light and modern atmoshpere.
The menu has panini's, salads, homemade turkey chili, cheese and fruit/nut accompaniments. etc. Great pairings, light meals, and freshness that leaves you leaving with no guilt.
The owner's and staff are super friendly and really know their stuff about the livermore valley!
I wish them tons of success but hopefully it won't be too busy that we can't get a seat!
Just got back from my first of many trips to this wonderful wine bar.
This place is refreshingly laid back, and their prices are quite inexpensive. Â All-in-all an excellent place to go have a glass of wine and hang out with some friends.
Check out the patio in the back -- it's amazing.
