Did not read the reviews before we stopped in. We went to Wolfy's because we could not get waited on at Riverwalk Pizza. Â It was around 1:30 pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2013. Â At Wolfy's we were greeted by the bartender who, as it appeared, was also waitress for the whole place. Â Nice day so we sat on the screened patio on the water. Â We were attended to immediately with fast, friendly and efficient service. I had a fish sandwich which was delicious. Â Overall a great experience!
Review Source:1st time here...sat out on balcony with beautiful view, but service was slow..asked them to turn on some music for a little atmosphere & they wouldn't. drinks were weak. Â Didn't order food since service was horrible. Left & felt like they didn't want my money. Â Thats probably why there is 9 people in here on a perfect day at 630p. Won't be back!
Review Source:I ate a Wolfys about a month ago and ordered the fish sandwich. I ended up getting sick the next day, in which ruined my entire weekend. Then a few days ago I ordered 10 honey mustard wings for delivery from a "River City Catering" menu. Got food poisoning from salmonella. Apparently, they both run out of the same kitchen....and the kitchen is dirty. People are real nice and it's a friendly atmosphere to go to maybe for watching football games and getting drinks, but although the food doesn't "taste" bad, it was bad. Just beware. Don't let the beautiful water view fool you.
Review Source:Won't return. Â Ordered chicken nachos, very small & soggy. Â Chicken is cheap quality meat, chopped up small & greasy, Â no chili or beans on it. Â After finishing the nachos, I saw a HUGE spider balled up, with a white ball in its web, in my water, frozen to part of the ice cube!! Â We didnt want to order any more food after that. Â I was going to get sick. Â Got the manager, he argued with us saying he will not comp the bill. (It was only $10!). Â Then he tells me it was a fly! Â What type of fly has a web & a white egg looking thing entrapped in its web? Â Unreal. Â Â Bad management-probably the worst I've seen in history. Â Such a beautiful property location but bad food, bad management, dirty place too. Â Look at the floors & dishes. Â don't go!
Review Source:I tried Wolfys for the first time, because we had a gorgeous day and my wife wanted to eat near water. Â The view on the deck was nice with a view of the river and Marina. The food is typical bar food and decent beer prices. My wife had the Jack Daniels wings and they were pretty good. Â They were fried and crispy and not heavily sauced and I like that. I had a fish and chips basket, but subbed onion rings for the chips. Â The fish had a tasty light batter, but while the onion rings looked great, but were just ok, Â We had a couple cold beers and the server was on top of things. Â The place was packed with regulars, and while I won't rule out coming back I won't be a regular.
Review Source:It's just OK for me. Â Prices weren't bad for drafts ($2.50) even when they had a live band (Rockit Fly got me to come ;o). Â The setup is kind of odd though. Â The bar is in the center of the building and is elevated and the band area is on the left hand side of the bar. Â Fine if you are sitting in the left hand side or around the bar, but if you are sitting on the right side, you can't see the band at all, due to the bar towering in front of you. Â Even though I love the band we saw and eventually was able to move closer, it just seems like too small a place for a live band, way too loud inside. Â It's ok though, I'd go again and have been there since, but if it's a band I really want to be able to SEE, I'd go real early. Â Havne't tried any food there yet. Â Heard of this place for years, like it was some major place, but like I said, I found it to just be OK imho.
Review Source:My husband and I live across the lake and always thought about how nice it would be to sit outside on the lake and enjoy dinner. Â Our first visit was great! Â The food (all fried) was yummy (and super unhealthy), and our waitress was fantastic. Â We sat outside, but we never felt ignored out there. Â I think we got great service because the place was having karaoke and the noise level inside was deafening. Â The waitress always seemed relieved to come outside to escape it. Â
The second time, karaoke again...still great service, but this time we had to sit inside. Â My husband and I had to scream to talk and finally, we gave up. Â We had to yell to order, yell to talk, and the noise level literally gave me a headache. Â
The third time, we went because our son wanted to try it. Â This time, it had just been bought by someone new and you could tell. Â The kitchen (which we sat right next to) was dirty, and they were out of just about everything we tried to order. Â Fries, dressing, etc. Â They had changed the menu from the last time we were there, and what I got was no longer on the menu. Â The prices seemed much higher than I remembered from the time before, and we decided then we weren't going back. Â
The service here is never the problem...that's always top notch. Â The food quality is rapidly declining though, and at these prices, you could really go somewhere quieter and nicer for much cheaper.
I don't know if it has changed much since I went but this is the worst restaurant I have ever been to. This place was expensive for the quality of food, the waitress argued with me over bacon she charged me for on my burger which she forgot, we never had our drinks refilled, and the music is way to loud, when I have to yell at my wife to speak to her there is a problem I am not old or anything I am 26 but wow this place was ridiculous. Another thing was I am glad I am a CC holder because I really felt like I was going to get mugged outside. The owners obviously don't care about what patrons think because I tried to email them, call them, and even fax my issues to them with no response. All in all you seriously could not pay me to ever eat here again. PS on the additonal tips down below this there really needs to be an option on the good for  and it should say for nothing.
Review Source:Friends had talked about Wolfy's in Sanford several times, especially as we had visited the nearby restaurants that come and go several times a year, but Wolfy's seems to stand on its own. But it wasn't until my first visit  in January 2011 for Lunch on a Saturday that I got the full experience.
A group of friends got together there as we were looking for well-priced lighter lunch fair. The menu is heavy on the fried dishes, with several grilled entrées, salads, wings, burgers, and fish. We split an order of the Jersey Style Fries (French fries with brown gravy topped with cheese) and split a larger-than-expected blackened fish fillet sandwich. The food was good, but to our surprise they don't serve Coca-cola or Pepsi products, but RC Cola; talk about a throw-back!
On my second visit it was with a different group of friends and a different mission - karaoke night. The atmosphere was fun, entertaining, and everyone was having a great time, including our group.
For both visits, our wait staff were incredibly attentive, kind, and accurate. The food was good, but remember most of it is fried, so don't plan on counting calories here. The location is convenient to downtown Sanford and only a few miles off of I-4 with great views of Lake Monroe. Plenty of parking, both in the lot and via docks along the lake for your boat, really does help to provide the "Key West Style Bar 'N Grill" the restaurant's Web site claims. Having been long-time resident of the Florida Keys, I was reminded several times of my favorite mom 'n' pop restaurants I frequented growing up.
Not exactly a family place at night, but lunch shouldn't be a problem during the week or on weekends. There are plenty of activities most evenings, including karaoke, ladies' night, trivia, all of which is available in the Events Calendar on the Web site.
For a non-chain, local experience, check out this place when you just want to kick-back, enjoy some wings, and an ice cold adult beverage.
After reading Rhonda's review, I feel somewhat shafted that we didn't get to bird-watch here, but my Mom wanted to go for Mother's Day (none of us had ever been, and I didn't bother checking here first), and everything wasn't all roses.
After walking in, I was pretty jazzed up about the atmosphere. The restaurant is wide open, with huge windows all the way around, offering fantastic vies of Lake Monroe and the Sanford Marina. Seating on the patio was all taken, so we chose a table inside.
Our waitress was nice, but slow. She took our drink order, and we got a refill on our drinks before she got around to taking our food order. Then it was several more rounds before our food actually came out. The beef in my french dip was cold. Fortunately the au jus was hot, but I was still rather disappointed. Nobody else at the table really cared for their food either. The fish sandwiches were apparently pretty dry, although the fish inside was decent.
I was really put down, because the atmosphere at this place seems really nice, and the views of the lake are wonderful, but until they get their kitchen in order, I won't be coming back.
Appeals more to the biker crowd than the foodie. Has a great waterfront setting with a nice view, but the bird poop on the screens didn't do as much to disrupt the view as the actual bird flying around inside the place! Yes, in the rafters over our heads, swooping down over the diners, and the staff seemed to find it funny. The waitress told us it happened all the time, usually at least once a day. What?? Shut the door, already! Seems the kitchen staff keeps open a door to outside and the birds fly indoors. I nearlyl got sick when I realized that birds fly in and out of the kitchen. UGH.
Our food had arrived before we heard the bird stories, so we ate part of our meal. Part, because it really wasn't very good. The salad was iceberg lettuce, one tomato and a ring of onion. Even a bagged salad with a little color would have been a vast improvement. Dressing came in a packet. Classy. My burger was undercooked; pink inside, though I'd ordered it "crispy well-done." My husband orders his medium, and both of ours arrived in that condition. Fries were hot, but nothing special. I'm guessing they came frozen from a bag.
Drinks were cold. Seating on the screened lanai is quite limited, which is why we ate indoors. Crowd was a mix of old men and bikers. We were the only family in the place, though our child was treated like any other diner, and they did have a children's menu.
Unless you're going for a cold drink (and I'd recommend getting something in a sealed bottle . . . remember the birds!), then there are much better places to enjoy a waterfront view and a good meal for your money.
We won't go back.
