  Just found out this place recently.  It's in a nice new building in downtown Glen Carbon.  Good atmosphere, and friendly staff and patrons.  The nachos are giant! Be ready to share those.  Burgers and sandwiches are good, too.

  I didn't know if I wanted to spoil this place by putting it on yelp for all of the yelp kingdom to be able to find it, but I decide to go ahead.
  
  I visited The Wooden Nickel last night with some friends after work to get a drink. It was a Thursday night so it wasn't crowded. The servers were nice and the place has a nice homey feel to it. And since the place is pretty much in my backyard I could get trashed and walk home if I wanted.
  
  The patio is really nice. There is a huge flat screen out there that we were able to watch and there is plenty of seating. Inside there is a juke box with about a million songs on it.
  
  We got there too late to have any food but I'm defiantly going back to try it sometime! If you are looking for a bar that's not too loud or quiet, that you can just hang out at with out being looked at weird cause you're not a regular, then visit the Wooden Nickel! You won't be let down!
