3.75 stars. Â Its a fun little dive bar full of clean cut white kids. Â and cheap drinks. Â I mean, a crown and coke for just under 7 bucks, with a generous amount of crown that makes Charlemagne jealous? Â Oh yeah. Â You do have to drive to Santee, which no one really ever should want to, but if you are stuck in Santee or have friends in Santee, then thats the place to be. Â Im not a fan of country music, so thats why im only giving in 3 stars. Â And by not a fan, i mean i should've brought my ear plugs. Â But yeah. Â Cheap drinks and plenty of space for fun, pool tables, and a few cute white girls on saturdays. Â not bad.
Review Source:Total dive bar, but can be fun. They have plenty of shuffle board, pool tables, and a decent juke box. The crowd varies. I've been in there with a younger fun crowd and I've been there on nights (more often) that the crowd is a bit rough. I've seen a few shady/fight situations break out and the bar tender didn't even kick the guys out. The place can be fun and is everything you would imagine a Santee hole in the wall bar would be, so make sure to watch your back.
Review Source:I've lived in Santee for 10 years now and have attempted the Ye on 4 different occasions all with the same result.
Service is horrible! The bartenders move at snails pace. Most recently we walked in at stood right at the service well. The bartender walked back and forth about 6 times and didn't even make eye contact. There were others there before us that she was helping -totally understandable- but at least acknowledge with a nod or "I'll be with you when I can!". After 5 minutes with no acknowledgment we left. Very sad- never again. Go to the oaks or even the Santee sports bar or even George's.
Ohhhh Ye Village Inn, I cant tell you why it's called that and neither can the bartender.....
I have lived in the Santee area for about 8 years now and was always leery of this place even though I don't mind a good dive bar. It's in a little shopping center, with no windows, a tinted door and nothing but the store front sign above to let you know it's there. Never any adds, signs with specials, neon lights or anything to welcome or entice you to come in.
During the day you might see the local retired and not working members of the community come in and out of the place for some food or a smoke. I just figured this may not be the place to welcome a new comer.
After 8 years and several drinks I decided it was time to check this place out, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised, it was a Saturday evening around 7pm, just a few regulars in at that time. The drinks were reasonable and strong. The bartender was friendly and so were a few of the patrons.
As the night went on more people came and went, a typical east county crowd a little bit of this and that.
This place has most definitely gone up since the last few posts on yelp. They now do karaoke on friday and saturday and have weekly beer pong tournaments on wednesdays. Younger bartenders now, tanya and carlina, who are both wonderful and very easy on the eyes. :) Of course there is still some older folks that were friends with the owner back in the day that still come around even after his passing, but theyre all nice and will most likely greet you with a smile and remember you the next time you come in. Cheap drinks, fun times.
Review Source:Its a Santee dive bar. Â If you dont know what that means then you shouldnt be here. Â During the day is the best time to go. Â Its manly construction works and old chaps winding down from the day. Â Most of these people are real nice. Â The problem is at night first of all they close around 11 or 12. Â Then you have all the young guys with something to prove sizing you up soon as you walk in. Â Ive almost been in a couple of fights in there. Â Even with that aside for an East county bar the prices are a bit high. Â The only thing I do like about this place is that they have a really nice shuffle board.,
Review Source:Ive been here a few times and its an ok bar I guess. Â Tons of locals thats for sure. Â My girlfriends brother comes here often so he knows most of the people there. Â 2 pool tables, some darts, some Golden Tee and shuffleboard are all there for the taking. Â Lots of TVs too. Â Really cheap, stiff drinks which is always a bonus. Â Of the few times I have been there, only once was there a guy who was a prick to us.....we were standing there playing pool waiting for our next shot and I guess we were in front of the 108 inch projector screen or something. Â Some drunk ass was watching water polo......yes I repeat....water polo....who the F watches water polo?? Â Anyways....he tells us to basically move out of the way when we werent shooting pool. Â We were like ok dude whatever.....there are like 20 other TVs around so scope one of those out if your pansy ass really wants to watch the water polo match....anyways....we ask my gfs brother if he knows him and he says no.....we told him what had happened so he kind of stands in front of the screen on purpose becuase the guy was being a prick to us. Â The dude then straight up yells out....." I told you once before to get the (word that rhymes with puck) out of the way". Â That did not fly well with my buddy and some fisticuffs almost ensued. Â Everyone mellowed out though and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. Â There are alot of bros that go there thats for sure. Â Look for the flat bills. Â A decent watering hole.
Review Source:5-Stars for a Dive Bar? Â Yes! Â This place is not for the timid. Â You have to have attitude (you don't have to be white) to enjoy this place. Â
Do you like your music loud and your drinks strong? Â This is a good East County stop.
You may find some "Bros" but if you untwist your panties and step out of your comfort zone, you will also find great fun with a nice group of people.
Well, after being old enough to legally enter a bar for nearly 4 years, I had never stepped foot into one located in Santee. Â Until my manager sent me a text message to come through to the one and only, "Ye Village Inn." Â Hesitantly, I decide to join my boss for a beer or two.
Amenities: Â Bar, pool table, big screen, darts, shuffle board, old bartender (easily 48 years old) with huge breast implants and tattoos, a big parking lot with many exits for a quick escape, fairly close to a freeway to get you out of Santee efficiently.
Negatives: Â Chances are that you and your friends will eventually be surrounded by Bros. Â The kind of Bros that ruin your night. Â
My Tip for You: Â Be sure to be White prior to entrance. Â If you are not White, be sure to bring plenty of White friends with you.
