While I KNOW that stylin' and profilin' on Transit road is the sh!t, I was blase about (having to) going here.
The only reason we pulled into The parking lot of The Super 8 was because the hub's co-worker was having a farewell get together. We arrive at 5:00 on Friday. Â Not open. After a while, a guy poked open the doors and said they'd be open in a few...So, we waited with the 2 classy smokers outside for a few. Â In a few he opens the door again, unlocks it and says "Ok, now we're open, we just need to set up the bar." Â Another employee was wandering aimlessly in the background looking like she got teleported from 1983, but that would be insulting to 1983...
This was FRIDAY. Â If you don't have your BAR OPEN & READY BY 5:00 ON A FRIDAY YOU ARE PATHETIC.
I may, or may not have said as much to the guy and we headed across the street to Brennan's where we should have gone in the first place.
Before I even saw this place, my first impression - at least internally was "with a name like Yellow Jaguar, this has gotta be either a strip club or a classy joint." My second impression as I saw it soon followed.."this is linked to a Motel 8? it's definitely not the latter." Not sure of what to expect, I walk into the place.
I was pleasantly surprised..it's got a divey, yet casual and friendly feel. Maybe that had to do with the stand up comedy that was about to commence, but I digress. The bartender was really friendly, there was a lot of space -- a pool table toward the back of the bar and the overlying mood seemed chipper, friendly and relaxed.
And the comedy was spectacular -- the seating was ample to fit the larger crowd of people - the stage had some nice darker red lighting to set the mood and although there were a few microphone glitches -- by the end of the night I was in stitches. The bartender even joined in on the hijinks at one point and I'm smiling as I sit here thinking about it. Buffalo has so many nice gems. :)
