The perfect little breakfast spot! I went here yesterday and had the fishermen's breakfast. The potatoes needed a little something but the eggs, French toast, and sausage were quite tasty. The staff are very friendly too!

Looks like your old school breakfast/brunch place and it's got a certain charm to it.  The decor looks like it hasn't been changed in years, which is what makes this spot is a very residential area very homey.  They food was excellent, I ordered the eggs benedict with sausage, which was quite tasty.  Though, I'm used to there being ham underneath my egg, this was still delicious nonetheless. The home fries were very good, old school as well (i.e., not tater tots). I sampled some of my nieces pancakes (short stack consisted of two large-sized pancakes) and it was tasty, so much so that I ended up finishing her second one :)

The place was busy, which for a breakfast spot near the shore on a Saturday in late June, is what you come to expect at 10:30 in the morning.  If this Bergen County kid is in town again, I'll be sure to come here to sample other brunch items.

Atmosphere: Lots of elderly, local people, vintage decor, not much space. Our server was friendly with the regulars, but distant with us "out-of-town-ers".

Cleanliness: A little run down, edges of the table were very dirty. You drink out of masonry jars, which may or may not be clean. Bathroom was sub-par, but clean enough for most people.

Food: We had the veggie burger (ranked #1 in Philadelphia Magazine) and bacon cheddar burger. The veggie burger patty was great. I could've done without the raw red onions, but the slaw on the side was good. The bacon cheddar burger was supposed to be medium well, but it was received well done. The bacon was crispy, but the cheddar was already cold and no longer melted by the time I received it. The buns were simply "okay". The fruit garnish (half a strawberry and a sliver of both honeydoo and pineapple) was appreciated.

Price: Reasonable. Both meals with water for drinks (and tip) was under $20.

Final Remarks: Above average diner quality. I would give them a second chance, perhaps trying something off the breakfast menu instead.
