Stopped by on the way back from San Diego.  Ambiance, food, drinks and service is amazing!!!  Great place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon.

Was staying at the RC so decided to check out the beautiful rooftop lounge/restaurant they have here.

I have to say it's a really nice environment.. small and cozy but cute with couches, firepits and lots of places to sit.  It does get crowded but we were able to find a place to sit around 6PM with no problem.

The food was good.. some better than others. The sushi was very fresh if a bit pricey but it is the Ritz. ;-) I didn't like the lomo saltado cuz it had bell peppers in it. I've had this dish numerous times in my life and never seen it with bell peppers so I'd pass on that. The grilled cheese sandwich was yummy as were most of the other items we tried. The drinks were also very very good.

You also can't beat the views.. gorgeous place to watch the sunset. :-)

Wow. We were here last year as a hotel guest. It was probably 4 star then. This year, we noticed a definite increase in customer service. The views are legend, especially from the 180 bar. The hotel is gorgeous. The walk along the beach - fabulous. We mentioned to the waitress at the 180 that it was our anniversary that week and she brought us a special gift with a hand written note. How do they instill that kind of consideration in a staff member? We were staying at the hotel and called the concierge a couple times during the week for special requests. Not only did they deliver immediately, someone called a couple hours later to followup. We had our dog with us. Staff was very welcoming of her everywhere we went, including 180blu. It is worth the trip here.

I love the view from this place. Great outdoor lounge area over looking the Laguna Niguel coast. This lounge is located within the Ritz Carlton along with other great looking restaurants that I am now dying to try! The cocktails here were light and fruity, just what you'd expect of an oasis from home. I got the Passion Fruit Mojito which was a pleasant surprise. I usually like my mojitos the classic way however this play on a classic wasn't overpowering in the passion fruit flavor so it was great. I also had the White Sangria which was a fruity mixture of mango juice, pineapple juice, white wine splashed with strawberries and blue berries.

I definitely recommend coming here for a day to unwind. Nothing like a beautiful backdrop to help you relax.

Not much left to be said about this place. The view is divine, the food is solid, the drinks are decent, and the staff are friendly. You won't find a better place to snuggle by your honey and take in the sunset. The music is pretty good too. I certainly enjoyed my birthday trip to the Ritz and would recommend this place for before and/or after dinner drinks to any friends visiting this area.

I always walk past this place and finally decided to come in with my friends for dessert. It is more of a lounge where people get drinks but they also offer dessert and coffee drinks. It's such a pretty view I wanna come during the day one time and have a drink. We sat at a table right by the edge which looked out onto the beach and ocean. We got coffees, my friend got a carpaccio and I liked it's set up with a biscotti and chocolate and sugar stick. And we got two of the dessert samplers. The churro with the dulce de leche and Kalua pudding was The best. Next time I go back I'm just going to order the churro dessert in its own.  I love the ambiance here and I will defiantly be coming back !

me and one of my friend wanted to go to RAYA at Ritz hotel in Dana point for lunch, but by the time we got there they closed their kitchen ( it was not even 10 p.m.) so we had to go to the lounge outside.
It was a super nice super fancy place, the view to the ocean was awesome, the atmosphere was very romantic, there were fireplaces and cute couples.fancy drink appetizers and desserts.
I would definitely go there again.

5 star view and decor / 2 star food and service
    = 2.5 stars

Wow, the view is uttlerly amazing..you couldn't ask for a more California nouveu trendy, chic place to entertain guests.  This is the ultimate in California lifestyle, cocktails overlooking the Pacific coast with trendly fire pit lounge tables while you watch surfers bob in the waves. I went here everyday during my 5 day stay at the Ritz and never got tired of the view.

So go here for the view...just don't expect much in terms of service or food.  It's not a big lounge and there seems to be plenty of servers and bussers - all very young,  all American looking types (and curiously all Caucasian)...the problem is none of the servers seem to know what Ritz service should be. Maybe these are college kids on their summer jobs but it was glaringly obvious that noone bothered to train them well.   I can't recall the number of times I had to ask to get my water or drinks refilled or get a side of ranch dressing, or bread or etc... and either never get it or ask several times for it.  Dishes were not cleared unless  I asked and my food order was missing items a few times.

Our waitress didn't even know how to open a bottle of wine with a corkscrew! She was clearly struggling with the wine it was almost comical. She said she had only opened wine with screw tops on.  Plus she didn't know how to open a bottle of champagne and had the wine steward from Raya do it for her. She was sweet and young and pretty but come on!!!  This is just plain ridiculous.

The staff needs to dress better too, their uniforms are inconsistent and frankly kind of unprofessional looking. They look like they could be serving at Island Burgers or something. I actually saw a waitress with her pants rolled up with sneakers.

In general, the staff is just kind of hanging out at their beverage station talking to each other instead of walking around and surveying what needs to be done.  Yeah they're cute and look like surfer dudes and girls but for $15-20 a cocktail, I want some real service.  Food takes FOREVER to arrive too.

As for food, they have Latin Asian fusion inspired appetizers which I'm not sure really works.  The Ahi tuna poki was very salty with too much soy sauce and not enough acid. Plus it was served with extremely thin plaintain chips which are difficult to pick up the poki with - not a good appetizer.  Their bread was strangly disappointing, even though it was served in a cool looking corn husk. Again with the service you have to ask for bread - the waiter actually said "oh yes we do have bread"... well can I get some then???

The Ritz really needs to whip their staff into shape here, even though there was a manager present, he seemed just as young and clueless as the staff.

If you expect anything but spectacular from the Ritz Carlton, you are nuts.  If you weren't wowed by the enticing aroma and vivid floral displays the view at 180 will take the cake.

Came here as a prelude to a date.  My date asked me where I wanted to go, I said the beach.  Thankfully he knows me well enough to know I didn't actually mean in the sand.  Woo.... crisis averted.

180 has a great menu, you can also order from any restaurant in the Ritz and eat here.  They also had sushi chefs and a movie being projected on the wall.

I ordered the Tamarind Margarita (Bar Raya inspired). It was delicious but not as good as the Tamarind Margarita from La Biblioteca in New York.  The salt they used was salty, but not too salty.

The view of the ocean is priceless. Very romantic at sunset.  Service was stellar and everyone was nice.

My lovely bride and I spent four days at this Ritz-Carlton, and every night we headed to 180 Blu for sunset.  Great appetizers and excellent cocktails.  A beautiful view to the west, overlooking Dana Point Beach and the Pacific Ocean.  You would expect the members of Entourage to stop by here for a quick one, and to check out the ladies.  The servers are nice too.  Overall, expensive but worth it.  Highly recommended.

No reviews yet? Maybe they changed their name. I'll have to look into that. Cute patio with an awesome ocean view. We got:

    Smoked Swordfish Tacos ~$14: Delicious!!
Passion Ice Tea ~$5: Good, and served with simple syrup
Whitehaven, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand ~$14 per glass
    Cran & Gray Goose ~$TBD

There was a FourSquare Check-in offer: Complimentay taco trio with check-in. Was really surprised to see it when I checked it. Service was great. We'll be back. :)
