We have been coming to this Regency theater for several years. Â Prior to the extensive remodel, this was a somewhat dingy theater, but one that had great movies. Â No summer blockbusters or lame Gerald Butler / Jennifer Aniston flicks. Â So, we always came back for the art house style movies, despite the limited appeal of the theaters themselves. Â
Last weekend, we came to the Regency to see another one of the relatively low budget, low distribution movies that we love so much. Â When we walked in, our jaws hit the floor. Â The interior had been transformed into a beautiful open design with a full service bar located in the lobby. Â We were 20 minutes early for our movie, so we decided to take advantage of the lobby bar novelty. Â The draft beer selections were decent and reasonably priced. Â Best of all, the drinks are allowed in the theater. Â No need to chug that drink before heading inside.
Most of the theaters (I think all but one) have been updated to stadium seating. Â This is really a must in the first-run movie business.
The overall experience was excellent. Â The prices were still reasonable despite all of the obvious recent capital influx. Â I really liked the concept of ordering your food/drinks at the bar and carrying in, rather than the current trend of "seat-side service". Â
I will be back soon. Â Probably much sooner than before I knew about all of these wonderful changes.
