Regency Director's Cut

We have been coming to this Regency theater for several years.  Prior to the extensive remodel, this was a somewhat dingy theater, but one that had great movies.  No summer blockbusters or lame Gerald Butler / Jennifer Aniston flicks.  So, we always came back for the art house style movies, despite the limited appeal of the theaters themselves.  

Last weekend, we came to the Regency to see another one of the relatively low budget, low distribution movies that we love so much.  When we walked in, our jaws hit the floor.  The interior had been transformed into a beautiful open design with a full service bar located in the lobby.  We were 20 minutes early for our movie, so we decided to take advantage of the lobby bar novelty.  The draft beer selections were decent and reasonably priced.  Best of all, the drinks are allowed in the theater.  No need to chug that drink before heading inside.

Most of the theaters (I think all but one) have been updated to stadium seating.  This is really a must in the first-run movie business.

The overall experience was excellent.  The prices were still reasonable despite all of the obvious recent capital influx.  I really liked the concept of ordering your food/drinks at the bar and carrying in, rather than the current trend of "seat-side service".  

I will be back soon.  Probably much sooner than before I knew about all of these wonderful changes.
