This place is really a dump. Â I went there on a Sunday afternoon with several friends to check the place out. Â I ordered a grey goose martini, and others ordered various mixed drinks. Â One in my party asked me if my drink was weak. Â It tasted like a glass of ice water with a splash of vermouth, was my reply. Â Every face a frown, except for those who ordered beer. Â Every mixed drink was watery. Â We left after one drink, and will not return. Â If you want a divey dive in the area check out Mugs Away. Â It's only a few minutes from this place, and has a lot more character.
Review Source:I stopped by on a Sunday night to meet up with some friends. The bartender must of have had a really bad day. Because after getting carded initially. She wanted to card me again & what gets me is the attitude she had while trying to obtain it. If that wasn't enough she later on turns off the music, and yells to the crowd to be quite because we were talking to loud. REALLY??? I don't know what this place is like any other day of the week. Hopefully she's not working...as for right now I have a bad impression of this place.
Review Source:So Rocks, aka PowerPlant (for those of that you that watch Bar Rescue) is a dive bar in a strip mall right off the 5 freeway. It's got an aptly titled nickname: The Dive off the Five.
This used to be a total shit-hole with awful interior design and a ridiculously drab atmosphere. After the renovation from Bar Rescue, it's got some Hollywood swag on the inside and has an updated dance floor/sound system. There are two mini-pool tables (mini because they're not regulation size, but still big enough to play). Pool is free on Sundays, FYI.
The bar selection is actually pretty massive for such an establishment. And their prices are between fair and dirt cheap. They've got daily specials as well as a Power Hour between 10 and 11pm. They also pour pretty heavy and offer pitchers on their drafts too (Coors, Bud, Shock Top, and one other I can't recall atm)
The clientele is typical Southern Orange County bro-tastic. It's a bit grungier than the typical dive bar in this area, so be prepared for that. The people tend to keep to themselves and don't start a lot of trouble, despite the feeling that they might. The dance floor is usually empty, with the occasional drunk "Girls' Night Out" crowd who want to dance. The age range is wide and varies depending on the night.
It's a great alternative to going to an overpriced bar in Orange County, and is a decent enough place to hang out and drink/get drunk.
