Casa Ranchero is always crowded, which typically indicates a restaurant with quality food and a great atmosphere.
In this case, I beg to differ.
Their "Taco Tuesdays" are only offered in the bar/patio area, which would be fine if you didn't have to navigate through their overly crowded patio area to get to the tiny cart in the back offering $1.50 "street tacos" containing about 35 cents worth of meat.
The typical atmosphere at Casa Ranchero seems to be 30-45 year old divorcees and the occasional group of 20-something girls meeting up after work for a drink. Everyone seems a bit pretentious.
Service is just alright, definitely not good in the bar area on Taco Tuesdays, but it's a little better in the restaurant area.
Since it's one of few sit-down restaurants in Ladera Ranch, I'm sure I'll be back, but I definitely would never recommend Casa Ranchero or consider bringing out-of-town guests.
