I really enjoyed this place........it looks and feels like an old time drinkers establishment should! Lots of old wood, mirrors, a pinball machine, assorted critters mounted on the walls. Okay, so they don't have hard liquor, and there draft beer selection leaves much to be desired, but they had a decent selection of bottled beers, the bartender was nice, I even won a jackpot on one of the Oregon Video lottery machines.
Review Source:One of the bartenders calls it a "half star" bar and that's a fair rating. Â This is certainly a dive bar with the clientele reminding me of San Francisco's Pop's bar on 24th & York back in the '80's. Â Beer & Wine only. Â You can get a canned soda but NO coffee. Â Owned & operated by the current owner's family for many, many years. Â This used to be referred to as the Oly bar. Â By day you will find long time loyal patrons, all retirees many of whom spend an inordinate amount of time on the poker machines. Â By night you will find a mix of tweekers, locals & wack jobs all out looking for adventure & cheap beer. Â Decor is old style with bear, deer & elk mounts (at least 10) adorning the walls. Â One evening as I was observing a pool game, a drunk had the bright idea to place a feather in the paw of the bear mount. Â I did not notice this blow job jump up on the back bar to my left to accomplish the placing of the feather and the beastly bear which was about 6 feet above the top of my head, off the wall, landed on my head, knocked me, my barstool and the cold one I was savoring over and I was out like a light for 12 minutes. Â I woke up to the EMT's and passed out 3 more times before I Â was able to tell 'em my friggin name! Â I missed an entire bar fight during my nap! Â Yep, this bar is good for the drama too. Â I think I've about summed this place up ..... well, except for the cockroaches!! Â Yes readers, I said COCKROACHES!!! Â By the thousand. Â Haven't seen one since I left my City by the Bay and these suckers are definitely their first cousins 'cause they're BIG!!! Â You definitely have to know where to sit to enjoy a cold one (not under the mounts & away from the roaches). Â Busch, Bud & Coors Light on tap and a limited selection of bottled beer. Â $1.50 for a pint of Busch, $5.00 for a pitcher. Â $2.00 for a pint of Bud or Coors Light and $6.00 for a pitcher. Â Pool table $.50; lame ass juke box. Â Usually closed by 11:00 on weeknights open later Fri. & Sat. if there is a crowd that is behaving. Â Â I gave it 1 star because I uysed to go there and there ARE some really nice regulars. Â It's near my place of employment and there ain't too many finer down home drinking establishments in this river town.
