After relocating to this area almost three years ago I was completely surprised to find the charming old town area of Burien on 152nd St. Our favorite place to eat in this area is 909 Coffee and Wine.

They have a slightly rotating menu, which I like because it is a much more effective way to offer variety than just having a daily special. I haven't had a bad dish here and have eaten at least 50 times in the few years we have lived here. My go to is the ribeye steak (luckily they don't rotate this one out very often). I have yet to find a better steak, even downtown Seattle. I no longer need to go to the Brooklyn, Met, or Daniel's to find  the steak that will make me cry while I eat it. The ribeye is always marbled perfectly, consistenly cooked how I order (medium rare), and presented beautifully on the plate. I have had their Kobe burger, meatloaf, salmon, and many other things from the menu; however, this is the dish that I yearn for when I walk through their doors. Other must haves are the braised pork shank (often sells out) and the beet salad starter. Very delicious.

They also have a diverse wine list and every waiter I have had is very knowledgeable about their wine list and can make recommendations based on your tastes and dish pairing. Really a great way to explore French, Italian and South American wines. The recommendations are great for getting me outside of my regular rotations. Otherwise, I would be drinking Washington wines every day.

Their desserts are always fantastic. I especially like the affogato when they have salted caramel gelato available, which is rare because it sells out so often. Get it if they have it.

They also do a fantastic breakfast. They use Cafe Umbria brand coffee and you can't get a better espresso.

I also really like that the owner, Frank, comes out and talks to customers. He is such an unpretentious guy and really nice to see him socializing with the customers.

Note: They only serve wine for alcohol here, but you can sit in the outdoor area between 909 and 913 and get drinks from 913 and order food from the 909 menu. Also, definitely make a reservation if you are going on a Friday or Saturday night. Otherwise you won't get a table.

My new favorite place. Connected to 513 next door. Awesome outdoor seating with fountains, heaters, and a louvered roof to keep it dry. Small but very select craft brew selection. Try anything and you won't be left wanting.

After recently relocating to Burien, I found the small town charm of the downtown area intriguing. I was interested in sampling the many cute cafes along the main road and around the area. 909 Coffee & Wine is one of the first cafes I had the pleasure of trying. Right away I was a fan of their coffee. Although it's not the speediest if you just want to get in and out, its worth the wait. The staff are friendly, and always make sure your coffee is the way you want it.
The food is good, and its a nice place to go for breakfast in the area. The prices are good, a little high but the food is tasty. I wish they served breakfast longer.
However, it has a nice, elegant charm, the coffee and food are great and the staff is friendly and polite, so I am definitely a fan :)
