Great location and the patio gave the feel that your were fully immersed in the Taos experience! Â Very laid back and the food was great! Â The margaritas were WAY over priced for the quality and size of the drink (more ice than anything). Â They did have reasonably priced beers, however. Â We will definitely go back for the ambiance, we just won't be ordering the margaritas!
Review Source:Would be five stars except the service is slow and inattentive, and the drinks are overpriced. But other than that, it's a great little place. The margaritas that I had were awesome (and strong! I live at 5-6,000 feet elevation, too, so I don't think it's the altitude). Interesting mix of tourists and locals, and the live music in the lobby at night is definitely fun.
Review Source:Great ambiance, fun music, good food. INNATTENTIVE service. No joke, three times here and every time we got passed by the same red haired waitress and amazingly - no matter where we sat - we were never in her section! Average wait time was 15 minutes and we had to flag down service each time. Avg marg is $10 and wait time at least double that. Otherwise, it would be awesome.
Review Source:We were robbed here on Christmas day, literally...$16.00 for chicken nachos, $10.00 for a chicken burrito with no sides...give me a break. Well, maybe we were asking for it, dining out in Taos on Christmas day with limited restaurants open.
Should have stayed at Taos Ski Valley and ate there to save some money.
All other reviews are true, long waits, cool entertainment and fireplace in the "lobby"
Just to pile on from the other reviews, this place has nice live music and great drinks. Seems that it's jammed with people every night, and many are locals who hang out here on a regular basis. A super-diverse crowd ranging from hotel guests to your average Taos citizen to burned-out ex-hippies. You will not be disappointed but you may have to wait quite a while for a table unless you show up early.
Review Source:They say The Adobe Bar (we all call it Doc Martin's) is "the living room of Taos." Â It may not have the world's best drinks (though if you like margaritas they do - all fresh ingredients!) and the service can be a little spotty... and sometimes it is a bit loud (thanks to the live music every night), but, you know, it is all worth it....
Because I've seen it all here. From concha belts to boleros to some of the best cowboy boot watching in the Southwest, you'll find it at the Taos Inn... Hippies, Hipsters, Cowboys, Lowriders, Tourists and Locals, young and old (sometimes very old) all hang out here, eating the nachos (pretty yummy), watching the music or ignoring the music, and drinking to stay warm on the cold winter (and cool summer) nights. I don't think there is better people watching...anywhere... than the Taos Inn. Definitely a go-to spot for friends and family or a celebration of any kind (even if you're just celebrating 5 o'clock, or celebrating being in Taos!) In summer, the patio is nice as long as a monsoon doesn't creep in on you - though those are actually so much fun you might not mind getting wet. And you'll dry out pretty darn quick at this altitude.
And a side note : I may be acclimated to the altitude, but one Baby Buddha margarita makes driving home a dicey proposition... Delicious, but don't plan to drive home too soon after one of those puppies. And don't forget to order the nachos, they help with the tequila... and are delicious besides.
Oh, and because it is in Taos, don't be shocked that last call comes around 9:30.
This is a tough review because it is really the average of 5 stars and 1 star. Hubs and I had drinks at the Adobe Bar. One server was awesome- unfortunately, she was not ours. The one table our server had (us) she could barely manage. We saw her twice. Their legendary margs must be lengendary because they are ridiculously overpriced and not even good! I had the El Ultimo ($9.50) and it sucked and it was tiny. Seriously.
However, we came back later in the evening and the Monkey Feeders were playing in the lobby (Taos Inn) and it was rockin'! People dancing and having an awesome time. The band was great. FYI- they have live music every night of the week so definitely go and check out whoever is there. This time we had vodka tonics ($5) and they were fine.
Come and dance and skip the margs! (Go to El Camino down the road for those!!)
We were staying at the Inn and decided to sit outside to enjoy the weather while having a beer. Â Nice, extensive selection of drinks. Â Seemed to be a nice bar menu (we didn't order food). Â Attentive staff. Â We were there during happy hour and the prices were ridiculous...tourist area so expected but still felt gouged.
They are located on the main drag of Taos and the traffic is just crazy. Â Everything from big semi trucks, dump trucks to regular street traffic to people showing off their LOUD motorcycles and cars. Â Not very relaxing which is a shame because it is a cute spot.
Have previously enjoyed margaritas and music there. Disappointed last night. Food was awful--old guac and sad duck quesadillas. I felt bad for server who was trying to be responsive and had to come back and tell us the Doc Martin chef said the food was just fine. Recommendation: Stick with the bar menu (nachos, etc.) and avoid the overpriced and not that good Doc Martin menu.
Review Source:Regarding the duck quesadillas with Janine V, it took one bite to know they were bad; not as in "didn't like the taste" but as in "I'll get sick if I eat". Quickly telling the server she took away the dish. That they didn't consider removing the item from the ticket and the chef claiming "that's the way they're supposed to taste"; makes us wonder about the competence of kitchen staff and a clear indication of how they treat customers "our way or the highway baby" - of course we quickly took the highway.....
Review Source:This is only because I sat and sat and sat and sat... I was not waited on forever here, so I finally just got up and left. It was probably only 15 minutes, but when you can stare the bartender in the eye from your table, it just seems wrong. Â I know they saw me... and still did not wait on me?
It looked like people were helped outside... try that maybe?
We were so excited to eat at Taos inn. Â We have not been to Taos in several years. Â This has always been one of my Fav restaurants anywhere. Â Sadly we were disappointed. Â Service and food was nothing like we remembered. Â This is no longer a destination place. Â Very overpriced for sub-par food. Â Too bad. Â The bar still has the best margaritas and I enjoyed every single sip of my pre dinner cocktail in the bar. Â The historic bar is still a Very nice place to sit a spell for a drink.
Review Source:Adobe Bar was a good spot for people-watching in the midst of downtown Taos. A great and shady outdoor patio with views to the main drag and a WICKED CHEAP wine list (for bottles!!) made it a great respite from the afternoon heat, despite the biker rally-goers drowning out our conversation with their motorcycle revving during traffic. At the very least, it's a chance to say you had a drink at the historic Taos Inn!
Review Source:Love! Â
Delicious and fresh margaritas, great atmosphere, amazing nachos. Â We stopped in on a Friday night with friends who own a cabin on the mountain - they told us Taos Inn is a family favorite and I totally understand why. Â There was a fabulous band and the whole place was rockin'. Â A good blend of locals and out of towners, with plenty of great people watching.
This place reminded me of a ski lodge. Â
Came here with my host to check out some live music, get some beers and see what Taos nightlife on a Saturday night was like. Â This is part of a hotel as you can see from the name so I'm guessing half of the people were tourists and the other half local. Â I have no way of determining this though. Â Just thought I'd point that out.
It was pretty funny. Â All the beers that they had on tap here are from Oregon. Â I live in Portland for those of you that might be reading this.
Popular hangout here in the heart of Taos. Â They have music every night of the week. Â Eclectic crowd. Â Good times.
Was in Taos for 3 nights and went here for all 3 nights, so clearly I didn't hate it. Great margaritas. Just watch out for the potentially hazardous shit bands that may destroy your happy drunkness. The aging hippies who still thinks Pink Floyd rock need to have their floor length beards soaked in tequila and set on fire. Normally I'd say this is a waste of tequila but if it's Jose I think thats OK. On the other hand the band on Saturday night was really good and only enhanced my drinking speed and general demeanour.
The bar itself is small with a fun relaxed atmosphere if somewhat bright in the table area with some dubious bits of plastic posing as art.
This place only gets 3 stars because it closes so early. Thursday night and it closes at 10:15 - wtf! Friday and Saturday not much better. Conveniently we stumbled over to the Alley to find further drinking.
I like the Adobe Bar quite a bit. There is a very cozy vibe, and they have live music here every night. You don't even have to pay a cover! If you can snag a seat by the fireplace, do so, because it's the best spot in the house. If you are looking for a place that really exudes the spirit of the way Taos used to be, this is a great place to visit. Open mic is on Monday nights, and be sure to go see the Monkey Feeders when they play there. They are a great bar band, and lots of fun. A must-see if you're looking to experience the (rather limited) nightlife in Taos.
Review Source:Due to a person who blocked me===who has also made a review..here is your update..you were unclear as to what you wanted me to do. No one has ever blocked me and it's rather silly. I was just asking for clarification. So thanks???
When I was at the Taos Inn, during the summer time, I went almost every night, and there was an open mike night every night. But she tells me now it's once a week-but didn't tell me which day that that falls on, so I'm sorry, I have no extra information to give, except.
That this place still rocks despite an attempt by another yelper who blocked me for no apparent reason when I was trying to get clarification as to WHAT DAY????? So whatevs and thank you for confusing me and the rest of Yelp.
