Was recommended to this dive and was sorely disappointed. Â I cannot rate the service except to say there was none. Â Was served my soda in a small plastic Solo type cup, filled 80% with ice. Â When I asked if they had glasses, server went on & on about how some people order a soda and 2 glasses of water and how one table had 11 people & ordered 15 drinks. Â Well great for Alabama Joe's! Â You'd think they could buy more glasses or dishwashers with all the $$$ they're raking in. Â Took forever to get order, which was cold and incorrect; couldn't find server! Â Guess why? Â He was busy texting on his phone, apparently the scores of the games to his friends!
Would not return. Â They have no respect for the customer!
We went to watch the Alabama game at this venue, figuring it would as it's name be Bama friendly for fans of them. Well were we ever wrong, Not one Bama fan and like pulling teeth to get them to put a television on the game. The owner which is from New York stood there drinking water. Why would a guy buy a bar and name it Alabama Joe's when he has no interest in anything from that state and the menu was typical run of the mill all Fried food, and nothing southern, just like as if you were at Fridays or any other chain of restaurants. Sadly to say we left, being's it was evident the name of this place had nothing to do with it's agenda. We would never go back, there is nothing on the menu to make it stand out, Just typical fried foor greasy things to eat:(
Review Source:Don't distribute 1 stars often but this establishment deserves it.
Stopped in last night for a late dinner with a friend of mine and her toddler-aged son.
A happy hour has been advertised from 10-closing, I believe, so we say "even better, let's dine here".
The hostess provided the menus and the server came over... it was about 9:30 or so, just to give you a timeline. The place wasn't crowded or overly busy.
As we look over the menu, the waitress says nothing about the Kids Eat Free special, until we ask and to which she stated-- yes, I guess he would eat free today. Good to know, right?!
Anywho, we place our orders and tell her we would like our drinks at 10pm.
Food gets delivered at 9:50. We do not see the waiter until we ask for the bill at 10:30.
At no point did she ask if the food was good-- it was mediocre by the way-- or refill our empty cups.
I ordered the Alabama Joe favorite: FAT PIG and my friend ordered the Meatloaf of which she eventually got the mac and cheese for her toddler.
The mac and cheese tasted like Easy Mac. The meatloaf was good but not great, the mashed potatoes were bland. The FAT PIG is small. It's pulled pork served on a hoagie and a slice of bacon cut in half on top. The steak fries they were served with were not appealing either.
Not planning on returning or recommending..
Giving my beloved Duffy's a run for the money. Â Have a regular lunch group now meeting each Friday. Â Charming (OK - they're hot) servers, reasonable prices and good food. Â Have sampled the WANGS (wings), burgers, Friday Fish Fry was outstanding Haddock, specialty salads, mini-burger sliders. Â All in our group of 5 are happy with the place. Â Ask for a "lunch card" if you go, which gives free 10th lunch and 10 percent discount for lunch. after first visit. Â It's also nice to see some "younger" guests including a few well-behaved infants with families, in contrast to to the assisted living places nearby.
Review Source:I have been to Alabama Joe's on two different occasions. The first was during a football game crowded with Jersey fans. It was so loud and people were packed into the place. My date and I could barely hear each other.
But my last visit will truly be my last visit. Again, I was on a date. Upon arriving we decided to sit outside on the patio. It's nothing fancy, but it was a nice night.
Our Server was friendly and got our drinks and menus quickly. We ordered some nachos with white chili sauce. They came out really quickly but were nothing specials.
After about an hour of being there I excused myself to the restroom. Once I got to the door there was an older bald man guarding the door. He told me I couldn't come in. Joking, I laughed and joked with him for a few moments. He started to get a little more serious and said "no really, you can't come in. We're packed to capacity, the fire department would shut me down". Then some dude in his very early 20's or younger walks up and says "I'm with Henry". The door guy/manager/Owner (whatever he was) says" oh yeah I know you", and let's him in! Mind you THIS IS NOT A FANCY CLUB it's a sports bar in Lantana and I'm a customer! Shocked, I retreat to my table a little dumbfounded and embarrassed. Our Server returns and my date explains the situation. He then brings me to the door and explains I am a customer. The Door guy says he hasn't seen me, and tells the Server not undermine him. Then says "how do I know she's going to come back". I explain my date is on the patio and he says pointing across the parking lot "go to McDonald's". At that point I asked my check and we left. Everyone I have told this story to has said they would not have paid the check but I didn't want to stoop to his level. In fact, I was just going to write the owner an email but there is no contact info on the web site. This restaurant is a real JOKE!
This is a great neighborhood sports bar. We visit it almost every Friday night. It has a friendly staff and the food is excellent - the best "wangs" in town! The restaurant attracts a good crowd ranging from families to sports fans. There are about 15 large LCD and 3 projection TVs throughout the restaurant (even a few in the outside patio). The staff will gladly switch to any game of your choice. There are a few arcade games to keep the kids occupied. I definitely recommend it.
Review Source:STAY AWAY!! We ate at this spot yesterday afternoon. First, the server took forever to even acknowledge we were sitting, seriously waited 15 minutes before a server came over for a drink order. She was polite, but ran away before I could also put in the appetizer order also (I had plenty of time to read through each choice thoroughly) When we put in thew appetizer order, It took another 20 minutes for them to come out. We ordered mozzarella sticks, they were OK you could tell they were frozen, but still palatable. Our server took our entree order and low and behold again we waited, 45 minutes this time for our food. Our server was apologetic for the long wait; however, it didn't make up for the fact that the burger I ordered (The 'Bear') was absolutely horrible. It was the worst thing I have tasted in a restaurant in quite some time. The server told me that she informed the manager and she took it off of our check. The manager never came over to say hey sorry, let me make it up to you or to get any feedback. This place has awfully low standards, it clearly shows and worst of all, they don't care. Best of luck Joe
Review Source:I really liked this place It kinda reminded me of a duffy's but to me all Sports Bars are kinda the same... They had nice modern tvs the waitress was very friendly the whole staff was friendly... Â The food was typical bar food but was very tasty.. I got a bowl of chili and it was very good and had a nice kick to it my friend got the grilled chicken sandwich and he cleaned his plate.. I went in there expecting bar food and wasn't disapointed it did its job... Â The crowd was nice and rowdy and the place was a nice size and very clean.. Â Id go back...
Review Source:Just open on 10/31/08, this sports bar is located in a large shopping center right near Home Goods and TJ Max. As a sports bar goes, I give Alabama Joe's 5 stars. There are over a dozen huge flat screen TVs, a very attentive bar staff, plenty of seating at a really nicely laid out bar, and inexpensive drinks. Given the southern theme, they have a bunch of fun southern style drinks including a very good Hurricane! Don't plan on driving after that sucker! If that's not enough, they have a section set up where patrons can play Wii games. A few people were playing a game of Wii bowling as they stumbled around with their drinks.
OK, now onto the not so good part. They have a great looking menu with a nice variety of salads, wings (or as they call them wangs), ribs, sandwich's, and burgers. I had to try one of their specialities, a $15 20oz burger called 'The Fat Bastard". It should have been called slow bastard as it took over 40 minutes to come out. When it finally came out, the outside of each of the 2 10oz burgers served on half a bun were charred, the inside under cooked and the burger really lacked any sort of seasoning. The portions are large (especially the salads) but they have some work that needs to be done! I give the food 2 stars.
