Al's Pizzeria

We always order their family meal deals. They have four to choose from. Super deal. A lot of food for not a lot of money. They never get the order wrong!!!!

if you've never had Al's before, here's a couple warnings.  The regular pizza is thin crust.  The Pan pizza is not regular pan pizza.  It's deep dish or what some places call "stuffed".  I don't know why they go out of their way to name something that has already been established as something entirely different in a million other pizza places, but whatever.  The pizza is also not anything spectacular.  It's good.  It isn't bad.  That's about it.  And "just good" would be fine if you weren't paying as much as $14.25 for a 10 inch, thin crust pizza with 5 toppings.  Unless those toppings include foie gras, crude oil, a pair of movie passes, and Don Julio tequila, you're paying way, way too much for this pizza.

We are new to the area and decided to try this place out.  Bad decision.

We got there at 9 pm and placed an order for a Family Size Sausage Pizza.  It came out to about $23.  The place was pretty dead, there were only two other tables besides ours.  After a half hour, the girl who took our order comes out with a pizza in a to-go box and says, "Here you go, your pepperoni pizza to go."  We inform her that we had ordered sausage and that we had ordered it to eat there.  She gives us a blank stare and says, "Are you sure?".  When we tell her that, yes, we are definitely sure, she goes, "Ummm, did I take your order?".  Yes, considering that you were the only one working the counter, you did indeed take our order.  We politely inform her that she did take our order and she goes, "Well, do you want this instead now?".  At first I thought she meant we could have that pizza while they made the right pizza for us, then I realized that she was trying to convince us to just take that pizza instead.  We told her that we would wait for them to make a new pizza.  

She offered nothing for the fact that we were now going to have to sit for another half hour just for the right order to be made.  While we were waiting she then proceeded to complain about customers she had earlier in the night loud enough for anyone sitting in the dining room to hear.  I understand that working in a restaurant can be frustrating, but at least take it to the back before you start talking badly about other patrons.

At 10 pm (we had now been sitting for an hour waiting), the right pizza finally comes out and let me assure you that it was NOT worth the wait.  Pizza is pretty hard to mess up, but somehow they managed it.  It tasted doughy, undercooked, and bland.  We each tried chewing down a few pieces and then just gave up.  At least have good food if you are going to have such horrible customer service.  We will obviously not be returning.
