I started my new job here in visalia about six months ago and we tried this place out and the food was really good the best thing there is their chili verde burrito you have got to try it and the drinks are really good as well. I think i must have been there at least ten times or more never had any problems the service is good the food is good and there is plenty of TVs to watch any game on any night you go. I would strongly recommend people to go there and try their food. As a matter of fact i will be going there tonight!!!
Review Source:The food is served cafeteria style.
There food is always good to me.
The cheese enchiladas is my favorite. Â Just watch out if you order a taco salad. They serve it with bits of chips & not much toppings.
Everything else I have had has been good, that's what keeps me coming back. Quick tip Sundays are always crowded how ever they do deliver.
Stayed nearby on a trip to Sequoia National Park, and saw the reviews on Yelp. The woman at the front desk of our hotel confirmed the recommendations.
Very casual place divided into a cafeteria style side where you order at the counter, and a sports bar side where you can purchase beer and cocktails. We ordered the taquito appetizer plate, a ground beef tostada, ground beef burrito and two soft tacos - 1 carne asada and 1 carnitas.
Everything was good, and the carnitas taco was excellent! We each also ordered a cocktail. Jack and Coke at $6 was a little high for the area, and the food prices also ran a little more than expected, considering it was counter service.
Great place to point at what you want, see it made it in front of you, and pay for your food in less than 10 minutes depending on the amount of people in line ahead of you.
I've always brought friends who are visiting in town to this place if they're looking for a kick-back spot to simply enjoy eating good Mexican food and enjoying a bottle of beer for under $10. I think they give good portions of food and it's not hard to find a table to eat at.
I love the food at Amigo's! They are always busy during meal times, so I call in my to-go order and I'm able to run in and run out. My favorite dish: two item combo with chile verde tacos, beans, rice, and of course chips and salsa. The chips are AWESOME and the hot salsa is flavorful and has a nice kick to it. Friendly and fast service!
Review Source:Its a really big place. It was a little crowded when I went since there was a lakers game going on. So it was a good place to be if you want to watch a game or something. Their burritos are the best I have ever eaten! I'm really picky with food but everything was really well cooked. I was impressed. I go to school in SF so its really hard to find good Mexican food. When I come home for the holidays I like to go here. I want to try the Chimichanga next. I heard a lot of good things about that as well. You would be very please if you come at eat here. It was so good! Y'all should try it! Its worth it.
Review Source:Since I knew I'd be in Visalia this past weekend, I made it my mission beforehand to go ahead and find somewhere that would be showing the World Cup 2010 Finals.
As I looked up sports bars in Visalia, this was one of the only ones that popped up. I called ahead of time to ask if they'd be showing the game, and sure enough they were.
The set up of this place was a little weird...restaurant/cafeteria on one side, bar on the other. It was awkward watching a football (aka soccer) game with kids around, but whatever...I was grateful we had a place to watch it. Â I paid $5 for my Fat Tire (not bad) and relaxed and watched the game on one of their TVs (all of them were showing the game).
I didn't order any food from here, so I can't exactly rate this place when it comes to that or to service, but for what I went there for, it wasn't that bad.
Needed a place to meet with a friend, I'd asked for a decent Mexican place that would allow watching of the Celtics/Magic game. Â He recommended Amigos.
Had the beef Chimichanga with beans and rice, and a diet pepsi.
Very good Chimi! Â The tortilla was fresh and not overly done and the beef was very good. Â Didn't eat much of the rice and beans due to too much talking. Â ;)
It's a combo restaurant/bar, where it's mostly self serve. Â Cafeteria style line for food and bar on the other side. Â Nice size place. Â LOADS of TV's to watch events.
Parking can be a bit tight due to the strip mall it's in.
I recommend this place and will be back next time I'm in town.
First, if Amigos was located anywhere but Visalia it would not be getting three stars. I would probably give it two.
I have not eaten here and I doubt I ever will. When I go home to Visalia, Amigos is the last place I think to go for Mexican food. I have come here on Friday and Saturday nights though.
My parents live in the neighborhood; if you throw a rock from their backyard, you can hit Amigos. So, on a weekend night when my cousins and/or brother want(s) to go out, we usually end up here. They do have a cover, but if you show up early you won't have to pay. I like when Rude is performing - you get a nice mix of cover band and hip hop/top 40.
They close early so be prepared if you want to party until 2 a.m. it will not happen here.
my most favorite mexican restuarant!!!!! they serve in huge quantities and customizing ur meal while they put it together makes everything sooo much easier and better tasting! i love the chili verde burritos here and for the bar scene at nite, its loud and fun! Â great place to go to after games or church!!!!! i only wish they had one in LA... :(
Review Source:Excellent place to stop in on a night of drinking your sorrows away that you're in Visalia and not somewhere else! Â Free chips and salsa in the bar, tv's galore, giant beers, cheap margaritas, and a really odd mix of families, soccer teams, and your friend's uncle. Â
I can't say anything about the food, as I've never ingested any of it, but the chips and salsa sure did satiate my drunken hunger. Â I think I ate the entire bowl of salsa by myself.
