Adage to live by "if the parking lot is full, then it's gotta be good. The lot was packed, and this place is  better than good. It's not far off of I-81 so we'll definitely be stopping here on our way through again. Great beer selections, great food, and friendly staff. Do not judge this book by its cover.
Review Source:Recently expanded the bar and added more tables.
Went on a Wednesday night. Seafood night! Â $1.00 jumbo peel and eat shrimp.
Wings are good. I would say there's approximately 40 to 50 different wing sauces to pick from. Next time I'll count them and update my review.
Excellent menu, good beer on draft and bottles.
Catering available.
I've heard complaints about this place, and every time I wonder if people are talking about the same place? Â I've had nothing but good food and good experiences during my MANY visits to Anthracite. Â The beer selection is minimal (on tap anyway) but they make up for that with a lean towards local and craft brews. Â The food is the real gem here. Â It's all locally sourced, and the recipes are obviously original and delicious. Â The burgers are to die for. Â In fact, they might actually kill you. Â The wings are awesome, and the sauces leave you scratching your head with decision paralysis. Â I mean, peanut butter and jelly?!?
It's a small bar/restaurant, and they do their very best to accomodate you, even if it's a little slower on busy nights.
Stopped by for dinner last night on the recommendation of a coworker, didn't realize it was wing night, so it was super crowded. The bar area and restaurant are small, so they fill up very fast. Â I was warned by my coworker that service may be slow and he was right, but our server was friendly and working hard to serve all her customers. The menu is interesting, they put their own spin on bar food. Â I had buffalo wing mac and cheese, which was awesome. Â Wing sauce and cheese sauce, mixed together, yum!!! Â The people at the next table ordered different sandwiches and burgers and they were huge and looked delicious. Â Some of the other servers looked liked they hated their jobs, and I may not have had a pleasant experience if I had one of them. Â Dining room is a little cramped, the tables are really close together, so this is not the place to go for a private, intimate dinner. Â I do want to go back and try some wings and crab fries with cheese, just not when I am in a hurry.
Review Source:Don't let the appearance fool you, this is a true gem of Wilkes-Barre. Â As an out of towner, I make it a point to visit this place every time I swing through for business. Â Why? Â Good food, great beer selection, a and fantastic crew. Â Need I say more? Â Ok, for some I do, so I shall go on...
The food at AC falls into your "pub fare" category but they have their own twists on your usual suspects. Â Their burgers (called Holy Cows) have toppings ranging from chicken tenders and fried eggs to the normal bacon and cheese. Â They even have one sandwiched between two grilled cheese sandwiches (The Heartattack). Â Their wings have 30+ flavors including a PB&J and the ghost chili enhanced "OUCH!". Â Looking for something requiring a fork? Check into their dinner entrees or one of their slightly different mac 'n' cheese plates or pop by on a Tuesday or Wednesday for one of their entree specials like the 8oz lobster special on Wednesday. Â Whatever you decide, the prices for the items are extremely reasonable with good sized (read as "large") portions.
What about washing down that tasty grub? Â While the WB isn't exactly known for being a brew Mecca by any measure, AC is approaching epic levels for what they carry outside of your standard domestics. Â They have bottle and draft offerings in every area of the beer "spectrum" from all over the US and some international offerings as well. Â I will caution that they do not have a wine offering here but if you're good with delicious suds or a solid mixed drink you will have no problem getting taken care of.
Speaking of being taken care of, the serving and tending team here is excellent. Â I've had most of my meals at the bar with the ever knowledgeable Dave helping me pick my poison but the floor staff is equally as good with answering questions or making recommendations on food and drink. Â They keep the place clean and humming along while ensuring you get your food hot and the way you want it.
If you find yourself in the Wilkes-Barre, take a step away from the normal chains and hit up this place. Â It will be worth listening to your mother and not judging a book by its cover.
Great innovative food and very filling.
Strange wings (in a good way).  Original sandwiches like the Coney Island Burger (hot dogs cut up and put into ground beef to make a burger) and the Heart Attack Burger, which consists of  two beef patties, mayo, tons of bacon, fried eggs, and grilled cheese sandwiches for a bun are my favorite. I don't go here often enough. I wouldn't recommend eating here all the time though unless you're hunting down the fastest way to gain obesity status.
They do get pretty busy and at times seem to be understaffed so you may have a little bit of a wait time to eat, but it's totally worth it. The place is a restaurant/bar converted from an old VFW so the atmosphere isn't great but that really doesn't matter.
Apparantly they have a decent amount of beers on tap but I wouldn't really know. This place is good for pretty much anyone except probably vegetarians.
