Redneck, yes...bad 90's music, yes...dive that is right up my alley! Â Hell Yes!
I am all about a good dive bar with PBR in a can and a row of Harleys out front! Â Plus, little did I know when I was there at half past when I should have been in bed; they serve a full menu from breakfast, apps, and even a little Mexican fare. Â The breakfast menu is served until 6 AM! Â They do stop serving liquor at 3 like other area bars, but you can get your grub on immediately and avoid the next days regrets!
Live music is entertaining enough on a Friday and Saturday night and if you get the bravery from your PBR's and red snapper shots, take a swing on the dance floor! Â You won't be alone! Â
I am all for supporting the local dives and businesses. Â KC has a lot of different people and neighborhoods, and this place will not disappoint in the people watching race!
Husband and I went out for a rare date night, ending up here. Â I was a bit apprehensive upon seeing the 20 or so bikes outside. Â Wasn't sure if the jukebox would do that "screeeech" to a halt thing when we walked in... Â me being dressed in jeans & 4" heels and husband in Dockers. Â By the way, we're your typical soccer parents... Â at a place known more or less as a "biker bar". Â We just happen to live close to here.
We went in anyway for a beer (or three) and had a great time! Â It has character, maybe a bit rough around the edges. Â No loud frat boys, no orangey-tan chicks in micro skirts here. Â The band was cool and the dance floor was packed. Good service, decent drink prices. Â Kitchen is open late with pretty good bar food. Â Large smoking patio out front, and that seemed like the most popular section most of the night.
I much prefer this place and clientele (did not hear the offensive language that Scott referred to) to a random bar in a strip mall, Westport, or Zona Rosa... Â and I don't consider myself redneck. Â If you like good live music that doesn't blow your eardrums out and can keep the dance floor rockin - check this place out.
In my review of "American Legion Post 61" Â I noted that it "borderlines as being the most redneck" bar I had ever been to. Â Why did it only borderline? Â Because Antoinette's takes the cake.
The bar is a working class dive/lounge attached to the restaurant. Â Kinda dirty, but not disgusting. Â Â Except for the language. Â During my visit, the "N word" was quite possibly the most frequently used word here among the all-white crowd. Â And not by just a couple of people, but by pretty much everyone in there including the bartender. Â Â It was really kind of disturbing.
I like places with grit where people can be themselves, but this was just a little bit too much for my tastes.
