Came here for the drag show, primarily.
The costumes were well-done, the performances were lip-synced top 40 and bawdy songs, the bartenders were friendly and the drinks were okay.
My main complaint was that the seating system is terrible. The main seating area seems reserved exclusively for bachelorette parties or those who schedule ahead of time, and we were asked to wait outside of it to see if the parties did not show up, plenty didn't, but last-minute wander-ins were seated (which didn't please me after a half hour of waiting patiently and politely.) By the time the show started, the few surrounding seats at the bar were well-filled up and I was standing and not having as much fun.
I admit Seattle has me spoiled on a lot of things. Seafood, coffee, Asian  cuisine, and drag. Dear LORDY am I spoiled with some high quality (but "low class") drag shows. I even have cute gay boys in whitey-tighties serving me bacon whilst I enjoy the many talents of our wonderful ladeez -- so my drag bar is high folks. High.
Popped into Aqua for their 9 o'clock show during Fantasy Fest. The queens outside were friendly, informative, and talked shoes with me and the man for a good long time. I was excited. All the tables up front were reserved however, so we were forced to sit around the bar which quickly filled up and got to be an overcrowded mess by the time the show ended. I will say the bartenders were friendly, and served up decent doubles when we asked.
The show itself? Well, the ladies looked great. Fabulous wigs and costumes. The music choices were all hit and miss in my book, everyone disappointingly lip-synched , and I found myself missing the humor, spectacle, and more "theater" influenced drag of back home. The crowd was very into it, but for $15 I felt a bit cheated on what I ended up receiving.
But hey, I did get propositioned in the ladies room here. Who doesn't feel flattered when that happens?
much better drag show than what we saw at 801 bourbon. sassy black was a riot. the crowds here were much more wild and fun than the other bars we'd been to. drinks were reasonably priced. its a little disappointing that they have a 2 drink minimum on top of a $15 cover charge. but we had fun so it did not spoil the night for us.
after the drag show the dj plays really good music and we stayed to dance.
Drag!
Pride!
Karaoke!
Strong drinks!
Great Staff!
All are welcome, and all are loved - except for a-holes.
The place is clean, neat, organized, and usually busy. Â The drag shows are great, and the queens are beautiful. Â I was lucky enough to witness - and hug a group of well muscled shirtless gay men. Â They were sweet, and I ended up doing a little karaoke duet with one of the shirted members of the handsome tribe. Â
During my visit to key west, we ended up here three times because of the outstanding service, great crowd, and good time. Â The same cannot be said for some of the other bars on Duval, so just go ahead and dive in to Aqua.
This was by far the best drag show I've ever seen. I was annoyed by the $15 cover, but quickly forgot about it once the show started. Performers were amazing, costumes were incredible, lights and sound we're truly impressive.
Get thee to a drag show if it's the last thing you do in KW. It was our last night and while we paid the price the next day, it was well worth it.
We had a GREAT time at Aqua. The drag queen show was better than any I've seen in Vegas. My face actually hurt from laughing so hard all night! The queens really pay a lot of personal attention to people, and it was fun to tip them. If you take care of them, they will take care of you! I took a lot of super fun pictures! If you are gay or straight, you will have a blast at this club. We almost considered coming back for a second night of fun...but the first one would be hard to top. Maya Montana was absolutely GORGEOUS!! They had lots of fun playing to the audience. Everyone really got into the show.
Review Source:Yes.
I ended up at this club because one of the ladies liked my shoes and then it turned into a conversation about the inability to buy dermablend on the island and no, I'm not post, I'm cis, no you're fabulous! And then $100 later, we left because you always leave on a high note.
Also, there is some kind of fetish thing below the show area. But I believe it was mostly boys and even though I love to watch MM actiong (who doesn't? no, seriously, who doesn't?), I wasn't dressed appropriately for the atmosphere so mostly enjoyed the show.
Free cover for residents.
I do wish the drinks were stronger. If I remember correctly, I was given a little solo cup. Not a red, kegstand solo cup, but like a "here, puppy, here's a droplet of water" cup.
But other than that, good times. Favorite block of Duval.
Came on the recommendation of a friend of a friend.
These ladies really showed me and the boyfriend, and another couple friend, a great time. They do a fabulous job getting the crowd into it, so it's not for the faint of heart. Be prepared to be a part of the show!
Bummed about $15 cover, but by the end of the show I felt like it was well worth it!
Definitely a must-see if you're in Key West for a few days.
Got married a few weeks ago in the keys, came to Aqua with a bunch of girls and guys, guy at the door was nice, gave Us  A little discount since we had so many people.  OMG it was soo fun!  We had a bunch of straight guys AND the grooms parents with us and everyone enjoyed the drag show.  Even got pulled up on stage with my new husband.  Everyone was so nice, hilarious, and A-mazing performers! There was also the cutest server there that was almost a much fun to watch as the show, he would get so into the performances I loved it! I wish I could remember her name but the Queen that does Shania Twain and Pink, is fabulous!
Review Source:Visiting Key West with my girlfriend, she made it a point to make sure we went to a drag show while we were there. I, being open-minded, agreed as long as she was going to buy me drinks.
We decided to go to Aqua on a Sunday night and ended up having a blast. They all put on a really great show that's tons of fun to watch. There's elaborate costumes, comedy, some audience interaction, and I'm glad we didn't miss it. When we walked in they were fairly empty but quickly filled up as the show started but I'd recommend calling ahead at least a day or two and reserving a table to make sure you get a seat. If it was that busy on a Sunday, I can't imagine how difficult it must be to get a spot Thursday-Saturday.
Pay $25 to reserve a "VIP Table" for you group of 4-6 (altough we packed 8 into our booth HAHA!!) -- it's really worth it, and you will have a lot more fun than the people packed into the little cocktail tables. Â Also, stay and drink/dance afterwards the DJ played good electronic/house type stuff .. Everyone in our group went all out, and we had a FANTASTIC time here.
Review Source:One of the best times I've had at a drag show! Â Only a $5 cover on the Thursday night that we went there. Â The "ladies" were fantastic entertainers, keeping the crowd engaged, and walking around with their medleys of hilarious songs. Â
It turned into a crazy dance party afterwards...we left soon after the DJ shouted "Who wants to see some nakes boys?!" Â A cute gay guy covered in glitter, in white boxer briefs came out and started dancing on the tables...it was time for my husband and I to leave :)
Came in here late on a weeknight to catch the end of the drag show with some friends. I've been to several drag shows in my life, but I've got to say that overall this was the best one I've ever seen. The drag queens were great about getting up close and personal with everyone in the audience, making sure to pay extra attention to the awkward straight boy who was dragged into the club by his friend. This personal touch really added a lot to the show and set it apart from others I've seen before. Sadly, after the drag show was over, the club pretty much cleared out, but what can you expect? It was a weeknight.
One thing to note, on the night we came, originally there was a $5 cover, but entry was free by the time we came in, about 45 minutes before the drag show was over. I'm sure the price they charge is based on how many people they have in the club, so this is probably not a regular thing.
Annoying breeders and $15 for a drag show is really steep! They pack you in here on little tiny bar stools like sardines, i was getting elbowing and kicked and knocked up side the head, it was horrible, not too mention it was hot and smokey in there that my eyes were burning on fire! AND IM A SMOKER AND I COULDN'T TOLERATE IT!
The drag queens painted face well, great costumes, very energetic show, they need to learn their words to the music, rebah macintire look like she had a stroke! OY!
would i go again? no! would i recommend someone to go, yes but on a slow night and if they lower the price. they can get away with the $15 cause its a tourist attraction. I know if i owned a drag club and i could charge that much i guess i would too.
super fun. it is a total dive bar in key west. that said, the showgirls are fun fun fun. we got "vip" seating which is really not neccesary. just go a bit early and sit at the front. the drinks were watered down so stick to beers or straight ups. the show was about 2 hours and basically the idea is that you tip each person for each number. they do say only tip is you like their song but these girkls are trying so hard it's difficult not to. Therefore bring atleast an extra 20 in dollar bills and make it rain
Review Source:We attended a burlesque after-party here and the venue was a fine host location. When we first walked in, I wouldn't have pegged it for a gay bar (and I mean that in a not great way), because the music and clientelle looked every bit like a bunch of Parrot-head tourists, but it picked up as the night went on. Don't know if that was due to the influence of our wacky crowd, but regardless, folks were friendly.
Review Source:My travel companion and I went here two nights in a row during the middle of the week. Both nights were drag and karaoke nights. I'm not into either activity, but somehow this place makes it ok. The drag personalities are more toned down than most cities and the random singers on both nights were either good or funny. It made for some nice amusing entertainment. Actually, this bar is the most chill of the 3 or 4 gay bars on the island. It's a nice way to slowly start your evening or unwind after a long night of dancing and boozing.
Review Source:Boy, do they love drag in Key West. Â Every gay bar had a drag show scheduled in the week. Â My favorite was Aqua because they had the most performers. Â The staff was pretty friendly, too. Â You can't get away from drag in this town so you might as well give in and spend an evening at Aqua. Â There was one performer who loved my green athletic socks. Â Each time I went to tip her a dollar, she'd stop lip synching and hiss, "I LOVE YOUR GREEN SOCKS.
