Great spot - if you are looking for an interesting place to sit at a bar and be entertained by conversation and a unique mixolgy learning experience rather than televisions, this place is great. Â Rustic Chic interior with mellow loungy atmoshpere and focus on the beverage make this an ideal spot to grab a quality cocktail before diner, or an interesting apertif afterwards. Â Prices are high enough you'll probably not find a lot of people coming to drink to excess. Â Would have given 5 stars but my expectations were that the bartenders would be able to come up with new and interesting drinks on the fly, but every time I asked them to come up with something for me based on what I enjoy (based on reviews I read here),they provided me with drinks off the menu. Â Still delicious and interesting, but I guess I was looking for that "off the menu" experience.
Review Source:Went here last fall when I was visiting the area and I'm still dreaming about it. Totally unexpected, amazing craft cocktails and topnotch bartenders. Comfy and classy ambiance. Folks, this is how you properly design and manage a bar!! Wish I could click my heels together and recite some sort of chant to transport myself here at will.
Review Source:All bars should strive to be as awesome as Arendell Room! Their bartenders are knowledgeable and make anything! The selection is amazing. Any drink you order here is going to be awesome, but I suggest you always go for their "Bartender's Choice". You tell the bartender what you you like and trust me, he will make you something delicious. For instance, I told him I wanted drink made with scotch, honey and black pepper. It was the most amazing cocktail I ever had!
What also makes this bar great is that if you don't want a creative cocktail, that is totally fine. You can just get a jack and coke or even a Bud Light. It's cool without being pretentious. The prices are decent as well.
The A.R.  is a fantastic place to have a drink and enjoy  the company of great people .  Denny, Trista and John serve up drinks unlike any other  night spot  in state .  The atmosphere is comfortable , the music is tight and some of the finest people are there .  I am a local , and when I walk in I can almost hear  "  hey Norm "  as my favorite drink is placed in front of me .  Thanks Trace for a great place !
Review Source:"Woohoo! I don't think we are in Kansas anymore!" The Arendell Room is a refreshingly, delightful fish out of water in Morehead City and well, Eastern North Carolina for that matter. It's classic and contemporary with lots of subtle old timey decorative touches, very urban renewal city chic. I love the exposed brick wall, the dim lighting (especially the floor track lighting), the long wooden bar, and lit mirrored bar back that illuminates the rare liquors making them seem as if they were singing "Hallelujah" in a clever effort to get you to order one or three of the many well-crafted cocktails to choose from.
The well-crafted cocktail formula:
1. Rare or quality liquors - No $6 1.75L bottles of Gibleys Gin or similar in the well (or anywhere in the bar for that matter)
2. Proper barware - it's all about the presentation
3. Fresh mixers - simple syrup or sour mix cooked from scratch, squeezed lime/lemon juice, fresh fruit
4. Unique ingredients - such as pepper, lychees, ginger beer, edible flowers, vegetables (cucumber), basil or other herbs
5. Technique - one word: MUDDELER (and garnish)
The Arendell Room has it all!
They were out of Hendricks Gin but they had to my dismay and delight a gin from my homeland (California) - I had never tried it before but it was surprisingly smooth and great in the sweet Basil Berrington.
I was also happy that the bartender had heard of my favorite drink the 1950s classic, the Moscow Mule (Ginger Beer, Vodka, and lime juice) and made it. The ginger beer didn't have the kick I'm accustomed to, but for ginger beer virgins it would be perfect.
I want to try the whole cocktail menu and if my liver and tolerance for alcohol would allow, all in one sitting because it's just so hard to choose!
Best bar in Eastern North Carolina in my humble opinion! Â I'd say the whole state, but I haven't been to Charlotte in all fairness. Â It has fantastic ambiance and a friendly staff that know how to make a cocktail. Â If you're looking for cheap beer out of a plastic cup or by the pitcher, this isn't your place. (although they do usually have PBR on tap). Â From a Pimms Cup to a Gin Fizz to a Hot Toddy, if it exists, Denny will make it spot on every time. Â You'll pay a little more here, but you get what you pay for and now that I'm living in DC, I miss the downright bargains at the AR. Â I'm paying double what I used to down there. Â Ah hell, the AR would be my favorite bar even if you put it in DC with DC prices. Â It does get a bit crowded on weekends, but it's perfect on a weeknight.
