The "Dark Ark" has seen brighter days.

Back in the day, this was a staple in Point Pleasant for a great meal, fresh fish, steamers, and good beer in a fun atmosphere.  But in recent years, things have unfortunately changed.

The last couple of times we've eaten here we were disappointed.  The meal starts out good, because they are one of the few places left that actually give you a salad and bread before your meal, which I think is a nice touch that I wish more restaurants still did.  But then it goes downhill, because the main entrees leave much to be desired.

Most recently, my wife ordered grouper off their "fresh fish" daily menu and not only was it a tiny, thin sliver of fish, but the texture was very gooey and gelatinous and she had to send it back.  Grouper is supposed to be white and flaky.  The server, to his credit, was very apologetic and took it off our bill.  My salmon was just ok.

Inside my baked potato there was this strange rubbery brown thing that was about the side of a quarter.  It was solid and had a texture almost like raw potato.  I have no idea what it was, but I didn't eat it and I didn't eat the rest of my potato after I found it.

Also, we noticed the steamers were no longer on the menu.  It is possible we just missed them but we were unable to find them.  This was a disappointment for us because The Ark was always one of the few places around where you could get a good bucket of steamers, and it was one of our sole reasons for going there.

This is still a decent place to stop in for a few drinks, but we won't be racing back for dinner anytime soon.

LOVE this place!  Great food, great atmosphere.  Definitely a local feel.  Off the boardwalk so you don't get a huge benny crowd.  Definitely a spot to hit in the shore area.  Support your local pubs!  #restoretheshore

Great little old school dive bar in point with the best burgers.  Great selection of beers on tap and bottle broken out by country of origin.  Service is great and friendly and the port whine cheddar burger is amazing.  I've been here twice and had that burger both times but the last time I tried the crock of onion soup which was really good as well.  Definitely worth a stop if you in the mood for great bar food and bear down the shore.
