Ava's is a fun place to stop. Â It offers reasonably priced drinks, good beer selections, tap and other wise and some great food. Â Yes, thats right, great food. I was pleasantly surpised with the chips and dips, sandwiches and snacks.
Avas usually offers fresh pop corn, video games, music, and pleasant conversation all in an aged but clean environment. Â Sorry, no patio but its still a great local place to eat and tip a few.
Of all of the reviews written about Ava's all of them miss the best part to the establishment. Â The vodkas... Literally half of the back bar wall is filled with the largest variety of vodkas I have ever seen in a bar. Â The only larger selection would be found at a liquore store. Â If you are not sure what to drink as Ava she is always mixing some great drinks that she calls her own. Â So if your up for a beer or cocktailing stop at Ava's. Â I did and it keeps bringing me back. Â Afterall theres at least thirty or forty vodkas left to try.
Me and my buddies' favorite bar to sit and talk. We don't bring the ladies in our lives to this bar because 1) Ava is enough lady for all of us and 2) all good men should be able to have their "own" bar. Ava plays great tunes, her food menu is always changing, and the prices and pours are very reasonable. This place is for the friendly and simple. The tacky neon lights and furniture that hasn't been moved or repaired since the 1950's keeps all the other riff raff that I'm used to seeing in this area at the meat head bars. Keep it up, Ava.

....and the kicker about this place is that they have 2 state of the art electronic dart boards. Â This place has everything I need to be drunk and happy. Â I really need to meet this Ava lady, I hear she rocks!! Â Next time Ava's, next time.
Stopped in here for a couple of drinks (~9pm) on a snowy, kid-free Saturday night. Â The legendary Ava wasn't there, and neither were many others. Â I think there were 5 or 6 people in total sitting at the bar. Â It was a friendly atmosphere though, and it wasn't long before we had struck up a conversation with the couple next to us and were on a first name basis with the bartender. Â
Based on the other reviews and word-of-mouth, it seems like we missed the full experience and need to give this place another try.
Ah. Ava's Alley.
Some place I have heard of for the past 10 years. Been close enough to touch the building...but never entered. Then I started dating Ray. Mr. Anti-Douche who loves a local bar. I remember we had first started dating and he says "Let's visit Ava...". Insert my thought "Ava is for real? Is this kid serious?".
Thinking-what the hell why not-we go. Like Roxanne. You enter and are greeted by this larger than life person that could easily be in a movie or tv show. Ava. True that if you are not a regular you might not be greeted all warm and fuzzy like. But it doesn't matter. I don't think that's her style anyways.
We have been in during the day and evening. No matter who is working-they are always awesome. Grab some popcorn and a stool...oh and a beer. There is a fresh dinner special served daily. And if you want to spice it up there are dart boards and the juke. So don't be afraid of the regulars...or Ava. Go have fun.
Ava frightens me. Â For real. Â She doesn't seem to be the kind of woman to mess around with, and I think she may have had a career as a professional wrestler or a drag queen at some point. Â But she does have a pretty nice bar. Â Definitely a step above a dive bar. Â Although if you order a draft beer, it might be a little on the small side. Â A friend of mine was going to question Ava about it, but we prevented her for doing so for fear that Ava might rough us up.
There always seem to be drink specials, including fruity specialty shots. Â This is a decent bar to stop at if you're looking for something a little classier than Fox's (which is a block away), something less chain-y than BW3, or don't feel like dealing with the Jersey Shore crowd at Scalpers.
A quaint little towny bar with charm.  Ava's Alley has great drink specials with a very nice and efficient bar tender.  Drink specials are plentiful and never watered down.  If you're not interested in sitting still, there are 3 dart boards to choose from, two of which are electronic.  If music is your thing then swing by the juke box to play your favorite tune.  There is also  complimentary popcorn to snack on.
