Lunch recently, big attractive place and it was really busy, a waiting line for lunch in tyngsboro!!!!! Â we ate at the bar, service was ok as there was just one bar tender covering everything and some of the local tables so she was pretty busy, drinks were good, small selection of beers, food was very good and pretty reasonably priced so we were impressed....not really my type of place but pretty decent!!!
Review Source:Just went here last night for my second time and I have mixed feelings.  Upon entering the building I approached the hostess "Alyss" and received a very annoyed "how many" greeting  while handing me the buzzer- no hello back, no welcome, no thank you, not even an attempt at a forced smile and it wasn't like it was busy.  We were told about a 20 minute wait and were seated in about 15.  Our waitress was very friendly, which made up for the bad interaction with the hostess.  The food was good, just your typical chain restaurant cuisine with an island flare. I think I'll come back for a nice easy good weeknight dinner out.  I got the Key West Fish Tacos and specifically said I did not want cilantro, which the waitress made note of.  When I got the plate, you could tell that cilantro had been sprinkled on top of the tacos and scooped off before serving to me.  Unfortunately, they didn't get it all and I had to remove it myself- thank goodness I am not allergic to it.  Once we got the bill, we realized we were charged for an appetizer that we didn't order or receive and had to have the waitress remove it. Â
As we were walking out, the same hostess just looked at us like she couldn't be bothered and didn't even say goodbye or have a good night. Â Go here with the expectation that service is spotty so you are not disappointed and make sure to double check your bill before paying. Â Also, if you sign up for their "Island Insiders" club on their website, they will email you a $10 off $20 food purchase which is a great deal.
Went out to dinner this past week with my wife and daughter and loved everything about Bahama Breeze. Our server Eric was phenomenal, his suggestions on drinks and entrees were spot on. The food was delivered quickly and we couldn't have asked for a better meal.
My wife got the avocado and goat-cheese burger and she's still talking about it days later.
Part of the charm of Bahama Breeze as I have known it, is the location- right on the water in Tampa, Florida.
Unfortunately, Daniel Webster Highway in Nashua, NH lacks much, if not all, of that charm. Though the service when we went for lunch was fast and attentive and the food was pretty good, it's not so delicious that I would become a regular. I like the coconut shrimp and the signature alcoholic beverages, but a view of the retaining wall across the street isn't as cool as palm trees on the intercoastal waterway. And the loudmouthed NH whale in the booth next to me was no substitute for the bottlenose dolphins you can spot from the outdoor patio in Tampa.
The free face lotion in the men's room is cool though, if you like to moisturize or rub out a quick one during dinner. What is this all about? I hear the womens' room had mouthwash, too. Homeless people take note.
Since my December review business has really picked up at this Bahama Breeze and rightly so. The quality of both the wait service and the food are still above par, with few exceptions. (One impolite server and a single old salad come to mind.) We'll definitely keep coming here, but may have to change our timing so it's easier to get a table.
Review Source:Don't quite know what to say. Made it to order drinks- that was it. Told first off that the fryalator was down, followed by no fresh fish. Said ok- I'll deal. Appetizer we wanted- didn't have that either. Â Than they couldn't guarentee the food we wanted would be avail. Â Needless to say-we left. Still paying for our drinks and no visit from the manager to apologize. Were told that it would be better next time...sorry they'll be no next time. Really poorly run.
Review Source:Went here today for the first time. Â No major complaints. Â Pretty much chain food quality. Â Not too bad, not great. Â The place was nice and clean. Â The service was fairly good. Â There is outdoor seating, but that was unavailable. Â The hostess originally offered us A very undesirable table, she did give us another without argument, but I always wonder why restaurants try to put you in the worst table in the house, when there are much better ones. Â The prices were reasonable. Â My sangria was ok, a little too, sweet for me. Â My soup ,was cold, but the server rectified that quickly. Â I thought the music playing in the background was too loud. Â All in all, I would go back, but I wouldn't go too far out of my way to try this place again..
Review Source:When we walked-in the hostess greeted us like we had just insulted her mother. Â The restaurant had a low volume of customers and we were not given a choice of being seated in the dining area or the bar area. Â We were shuttled to the bar area.
Once we ordered, our appetizer was brought out before our drinks. Â Getting someone to check on us must have been extra or maybe you have to call ahead to reserve good service. Â We wanted plates so we could share the appetizer without having to hover over one plate. Â We were doing the customary rubber neck, needy eyes to get someone to come over to our table. Â After 10 minutes of waiting, my spouse got up walked to the other side of the bar and asked for plates.
Again, the restaurant had about 10 tables going in the bar area and nobody was sitting at the bar. Â --not busy
Once our entree arrived my spouse asked the food runner for mustard (we knew the burger would get cold before we saw our waitress so she pounced on the opportunity to ask the food runner for mustard). Â The food runner gave my spouse a dirty look but brought out the mustard anyway.
The food was on par with similar chain restaurants. Â We had the onion rings, fish tacos, cheeseburger, key lime pie (got dessert "to go" because we couldn't stand the service).
The only comment I have about the fish tacos is that they need to drain the liquid from the fixings before they load it up in the tortilla (usually a sign of being rushed or just not worried about presentation).
I would only consider take-out at Bahama Breeze. Â If you want to enjoy a true restaurant experience where you are waited on, you may want to breeze past this establishment.
Went here for the first time a couple weeks ago with my girlfriend. She had been before and said the food was excellent. We went on a Tuesday night so crowds were minimal. I liked the woman playing the steel drum on the patio- really added to the Bahamas theme.
We were seated quickly but I found our service was mediocre at best. There were long spells of us not seeing our waiter in between ordering our drinks and our meals. Our main course took the longest to come out. We each ordered a burger done medium-well but mine was burnt to a cinder and had no flavor. I don't think hers was much better.
We did have the artichoke-spinach dip with tortilla chips for an appetizer and we both enjoyed that. She ordered a virgin piña colada which was also delicious. I liked that they served a variety of tropical beers, which included one of my favorites which is difficult to find around these parts.
All in all, I liked the atmosphere and the theme, but the deficiencies in service and the unexciting food are what is keeping me from wanting to make another visit.
The food here is great, there's no doubt about that. What's lacking is good service. We waited to be seated for about an hour, and the host had an attitude whenever we checked in to see how far we had gotten up the list. We almost left. If you really want to dine here, it's definitely worth making a reservation.
Once we were seated, the experience improved. I ordered a crab cake, plantains and a mushroom sandwich. All were delicious!
I'd come here again, but only with a reservation.
I have been to Bahama Breeze countless of times. The curry bowl, jerk chicken... Caribbean goodness. The food is not gourmet - obviously - but still very flavorful and satisfying. The lady playing steel drums last Monday night was a nice touch too. My only complaint is that if you come on any weekend night, you'll be waiting anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour and a half for a booth.
Review Source:We TRIED to call Sunday morning to let them know that we had a party of 8 for a birthday celebration for that night. They said to call back 1 hour before we wanted table (5:30pm). Â We TRIED Â to call 1 hour before....they said there was no wait and to call again 15 minutes ahead...we called 15 minutes ahead, and they told us SORRY, the big tables were taken and we'd have to wait at least an hour.
We went to La Carreta....
I've come here several times, and I've always had good experiences. I don't know what these other people are talking about. The service is always very friendly, and helpful. For newcomers, they'll always give a rundown of the menu and explain the fresh fish menu.
Happy hour appetizers are a good deal. Beef empanadas and yucca fries are my favorite! I wish it came with more mango salsa though. I like their small plates menu and I'll often order a bunch of these.
Two words: HOMEMADE DESSERTS. I'm sick and tired of all these chains having frozen, "imported" desserts. Bahama's key lime pie: fabulous. My favorite is their bananas supreme. The caramel sauce is super fantastic.
Mediocre at its worst. Â We wanted to sit outside. Â The outside seating is "first come, first serve" which leads to people hovering around waiting for tables. Â When we finally got one, it was by two parties of 8 full of drunk, rowdy college students. Â They did let us move to another table that was quieter when it opened up but that did nothing to improve the lack-luster service and mediocre food. Â We won't be back.
Review Source:This is a tale of two meals. Â One, at a place where the kitchen screwed up, and everyone bent over backwards to make up for it; the other, at a place where the kitchen screwed up, and the only thing they cared about what making sure that I wouldn't yelp about it.
As it turns out, Bahama Breeze was the one that screwed up, but in the end, we had an awesome time, and can't wait to go back. At the end of the review, I'll tell you who "the other" restaurant that really doesn't care is.
Being Cuban and living in New England, finding good Carribean food has always been difficult at best. Â Throw in a food picky Cuban mom on her 70th birthday, and finding somewhere to eat can be even more difficult! Â So, on mom's 70th birthday, we thought we would treat her to Bahama Breeze - got there at 5, and promptly got seated. Â The atmosphere is awesome, the staff are all professionals, and the menu is just down-right fantastic!
Since it was mom's birthday (and my husband and I have already written a review), I will focus on mom's experience. Â Mom insisted on the yucca fries, and the conch fritters, both of which were simply awesome. Â She followed it up with the special of the day - a coconut shrimp and grits meal (both her favorite) - which we hadn't seen on the menu before. Â The service was great (and quick), but we noticed that she only picked at her food, and when the waitress asked if she wanted it to go, she was quick to say no. Â When the waitress asked her if it was okay, she admitted that she thought the grits were cold, and that the shrimp weren't that great, which totally surprised the waitress, who was very genuinely apologetic, oferred various things to make up for it (though mom just wasn't interested in anything else), and had the manager there within minutes to personally apologize (and to make sure we knew that it would come off the bill). Â By the time they brought out the key lime birthday cake for her, we had completely forgotten about the screw up, and we left planning another visit soon with mom (of course, I tipped on the entire meal, as one should, since it wasn't the server's fault).
Just one more reason why we LOVE Bahama Breeze, and highly recommend it to everyone who is looking for somewhere to eat!!! Â :)
On the other hand, for really crappy service and mediocre food, make sure to check out Cobblestones in Lowell (or read my review about the lousy meal I recently had there).
Went there for the first time with a group of my Coworkers! and i loved it! the drinks were sweet and made with all kinds of Rum (which was awesome!) the food was seasoned and tasty, real Caribbean vibe in the place with reggae music on.
The staff was so kind and fast!
We all decided to meet there at least once a month. It was that good!
I do have to say when my friend and I decided to give this place a try last night, wr were not expecting it to be decent at all. But from the moment we walked in until we left we were surprised at how nice and big the restaurant is, how attentive the waitress was, and how good the drinks/food was. I had not been to this building since it was On The Border way back in the day and loved how much it had changed for the better. I am giving 5 stars because for a restaurant like this in the area, its a pretty big deal since nothing around here is that good and I tend to stick with the Boston/Cambridge area.
For a drink i ordered the signature bahamarita frozen cocktail. It had the right amount of sweetness that i love and i liked that you could add the amount of triple sec you wanted since they give a little shot of it that comes attached to the martini glass. We split a little plate of chips and salsa just to start with. The salsa looked like it was fresh made in house. My friend went with a regular burger and fries, and he said his burger tasted really good and it was cooked perfectly the way he asked. I had the jerk chicken pasta. It was actually really good, creamy, and not too spicy like the waitress had warned me before hand. It had the right amount of flavor needed. I especially loved that it had asparagus in it as well. It was a big enough portion that I ended up getting it packed and had the next day, still tasting great.
Our waitress was very attentive and always asking us if we needed anything or if everything was good to our liking. The prices for drinks and food were very reasonable. I am sure after this experience, we will definitely be comin back here.
we went back for a 4th time this past Veteran's day. It had been a while and they had redone the menu.
The service we received and the food quality was excellent. I would not do anything different than what they did for us on Monday. We ordered takeout as well. The order was packaged nicely and ready quickly. Â A +
Definition of "average." Typical spotty service at dinner tonight. Receptionist was indifferent, and we waited 40 minutes despite minimal people and many open tables. Â Waitress was good and reasonably attentive. Food choice and quality is mediocre. My beef and rice dish was soggy and served lukewarm. There are much better options for a predictable, family meal.
Review Source:All I can say is eh. This place is overwhelmingly uninspired. The island decor permeates the dimly lit dining room, and the place is huge, so seating isn't an issue. But the staff seemed like it was their first day, despite the fact that this place always seems to be busy. The menu seems pretty sparse considering how jazzed up the place is, and honestly, for what you get, the prices are a little high. For an island themed place, there's not really a cohesive theme on the menu, there's a mishmash of grilled, pseudo-indian, and sorta-carribean inspired food that's kinda bland when it gets to the table. I could probably go to Chili's if I wanted similar food, and pay less for more. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here again. While it wasn't horrible, it had no wow factor to pull me back in, and other places can and have done what this place does, only better.
Review Source:It's 'ok' overall here, but the service is lacking in a big way. Â I've been here twice, and it seems that the hostesses and some servers are inconvenienced by you when you walk in during the slower hours.
Getting the food to your table can be very slow, even during the off-peak hours, so be prepared to wait...if you need to get out in a certain time to see a movie or something, you may want to eat somewhere else that night. Â
The food can be very good, although the menu seems a little limited.
I'm really surprised that this place doesn't have better reviews.
I went last weekend with my parents and aunt and uncle for my aunts birthday. We were greeted by very friendly hostesses and told there would be a 15 minute wait. We went to the bar and ordered drinks and the bartender was really friendly. The drinks were delicious! They have an amazing drink selection.
We waited less than 15 minutes and were seated in Chantal's section. She was GREAT! So friendly, very attentive and she had no problem putting up with our rowdy group.
We ordered appetizers, the ahi tuna, wings and coconut shrimp. Everything was great. One of the wings was very undercooked but once we told the waitress she brought out a whole new order even though we had eaten the rest of them!
The seafood chowder was also a big hit with everyone. I had the salmon and the mashed sweet potatoes, which were amazing. Everyone was really happy with their food.
I was too full for dessert but we ordered a few and everyone said they were just as great as everything else. The prices are fair and the atmosphere is really fun.
I highly recommend Bahama Breeze, we had such a great time, we will definitely be going back!!
Go there very often on Fridays for lunch with my colleagues. The quality of food is good. The service has been good every time I have gone there so far. Key west fish tacos and grilled salmon toastada salad are my favorites. I do not understand why they do not manage outside seating as they do indoors seating.
Review Source:Waited for the crowds to die down to try this out. Â Went there on a Monday and the parking lot was only about 25% full. Â We were not very impressed with the menu or the dishes we ordered. Â Clearly the focus of the restaurant is fruity rum drinks--that takes up a large portion of the menu. Â
The food on the menu is a little of this and that but pretty much all familiar dishes. Â No interesting "Caribbean twist on xyz" or anything original. Â The food is also pretty bland which is not what we expected given the caribbean theme. Â They were pushing the wood grilled fish so I ordered that. Â Only 3 choices: salmon, tilapia, swordfish and two sauces. Â I got an almost tasteless piece of white fish with some orange marmalade ladled over the top.
For an appetizer we had the firecracker shrimp which was just fried shrimp in with the tail chopped off and a chipotle mayo on the side. Â Eatable but not spicy at all (it was one of the few dishes marked spicy). Â My wife had a Cuban sandwich which they didn't even bother to press--just pork on a bun. Â
Nothing was bad. Â It just was uninteresting. Â We're not considering a 2nd visit.
We had lunch there yesterday. Â We have been excited to try this place. Â We arrived about 3:15pm. Â We were seated immediately. Â Our server was Kim who was extremely pleasant and accommodating, she was right on top of everything. Â The drinks here are fantastic, we had the painkiller and the pina coloda. Â We started off with an app called Jerk shrimp. Â It was absolutely delicious. Â Shrimp in a spicy broth with plenty of bread to dip in the broth. Â My wife had the coconut shrimp and I had the apple bacon burger with Swiss and pineapple chutney. Â Both meals were delicious and cooked perfectly. Â For desert we had key lime pie and pineapple chocolate upside down cake. Â Both were delicious and a generous portion. Â We will go back again. Â Something to note. Â There is a lunch menu and a dinner menu. There are a few more items on the dinner menu that are not available on the lunch menu.
Enjoy!
I came here last night with my dad for the first time - not really knowing what to expect. I'd heard that it had been crazy busy since it opened, but that was about it.
We were seated right away. While busy, I think it wasn't their busiest night.
The waiter seemed pretty informed about the menu. We both ordered sodas and got one of the lemonades made with cane sugar to share. There were a lot of menu options for food - we ordered the spinach dip to start (pretty average, but served hot with plenty of chips). I got the Wood Grilled Chicken Breast for my entree. It was really good and had great flavor, but the "lighter portion" option would have been enough - the normal size came with 2 full chicken breasts, a heaping mound of potatoes, and broccoli.
We didn't order dessert - we were too full! I thought the food was pretty good, and the prices were decent for the quality of what we got. I highly recommend the lemonade - it was delicious!!
Last night redeemed this place for me. I'm glad we gave it another shot, because after the first time, It would have gotten 1 start and I would never have gone back because the service was HORRIBLE and the entrees we chose had NO flavor to them whatsoever.
The biggest thing that bothered me was when we arrived and the hostess quoted us 25 minutes when there were only 4 people waiting and like 4-5 tables open that I could see. WTF? We sat at the bar.
The bf has been to the Bahamas about 20 times (no joke, like 15-20 times or something crazy) so he's a lot more critical of the food and especially the flavors than I am. Despite that, he really liked the Goat cheese and flatbread app and his Calypso Shrimp Linguine (except the incredibly stale garlic bread that came with it) even though his rum punch was WAAAAAAAAY too sweet.
I liked everything. The goast cheese app came with sooooo much goat cheese, I saved some and put it in my grilled chicken sandwich for dinner (which was awesome on its own with it's pesto sauce, arugula, avocado, and naan bread). Also, they had Belvedere Red Grapefruit which nobody ever has (I'd like to suggest to their management that they stock it because I think the bartender mentioned it was a promo bottle).
Not bad for a last minute dinner decision on a Wednesday night. I only wish there has been an open table on the patio cuz they had a woman playing the steel drums singing Caribbean music and the weather was perfect to sit outside.
I am in weight watchers and didn't even bother to count the points on the shrimp and salmon dinner I ate since I didn't retain it long enough.
I don't understand why this has been so busy. Food for myself and 10 yr old with no drinks cost $60. Â She did have steak it was so rare it was purple inside. We took it home and my husband ate the leftovers after putting it on the grill.
Go to try out something new if you want but IMO there is so much better in the area.
My husband and I went here on a Saturday around 5 pm. Â Looked busy, but got seated withing 15 minutes, which was nice... Waitress was not very personable. Â I asked her about a few items on the menu, all chicken and beef because I don't eat fish. She gave me a look of disgust and said I think they all look bad because I only eat fish.... WHAT? Â Maybe at least say something good about them or get another server who can help a customer decide...!!! so I decided on the chicken quesadilla for my meal... BUT, asked for chicken and cheese ONLY! Â It came to the table with ALL the veggies inside. Â I again asked for Chicken and cheese only... Came back again this time with Chicken, cheese and cilantro! Â I hate Cilantro... Needless to say I left hungry and so did my husband. Â He got coconut shrimp which was dry and tasteless. Â He also got fish taco's. Â The cook couldn't even take the time to spread the ingredients just blobbed the sauce on one side so my hubby had to take the taco apart, just to spread out the ingredients and eat it. Â Then the fish was really dry and the tortilla was stale and flaky...
After we told our waitress I had a problem, she dropped my quesadilla off at the table without saying anything... She barely walked up to the table and placed it at the end of the table... Then the manager came over and comped the meals... OK, but I'm still hungry! Â Then the waitress was extremely rude to us... what the heck! Â we know you didn't cook it and never were rude to you!!! Â Horrible customer service!!!!
Needless to say we left hungry and will NEVER GO BACK!!!
(For the purpose of this story, please note that we are not idiots when it comes to bad service, but had been in the car all day, had eaten nothing, and were so looking forward to this.)If I could give zero stars I would. Â And for the record, this is my 3rd BB location, having been to, and LOVED the Las Vegas and Orlando (Near WDW) locations. Â And then there was this one: Â
We arrived tonight, a Sunday night, at 7:30pm. Â Upon checking in, we were told by the snotty hostess that it would be a 30 minute wait. Â However, we can see at least 5 open tables, and not that many people waiting. Â Warning #1. Â After hanging out for a few, the husband spots two seats open at the bar and snags them. Â I return the pager and tell the hostess we'll be eating at the bar. Â Her: "Whatever." Â Warning #2.
We sit at the bar, which incidentally was soaking wet, and immediatly one of the bartenders hands us drink menus and asks if we'll be eating. Â We say yes. Â Within a few minutes, we have drinks in hand. Â Yay, something positive!
While we're mulling over choices, we notice that our favorite app, the coconut onion rings isn't on the menu. Â We ask, and another bartender replies: "Yeah, we don't have the full menu here." Â Wait, WHAT???? Â This is not mentioned anywhere on the website, and would have been helpful seeing we drove a very far distance to come here. Â Warning #3. Â We finally decide on what to order, but it takes forever to get anyone's attention as they're too busy slinging full beers through the air (Nope, not kidding) and mostly missing. Â Beer and shattered glass all over the floor. Â We order our meals, and an app and sit back to wait.
After what felt like a really long about of time, the bartender looks over, says "Hey, no apps yet? Â Hmm, should I check on that?" We say yes, then watch her go into an A.D.D. moment, and forget. Â However, about this time, she finally puts our tab in the glass in front of us, which suggests she forgot to put the food order in entirely. Â Warning #4. Â Finally, someone brings out our app, which was supposed to be chicken sliders. Â They were pork. Â We send them back. Â Bartender: "Ooops, I thought you said pork. Â Oh well." Â Warning #5
Our main courses come of 2 seconds later, at which point, I asked her please to remove the app. Â We would just eat our food and go. Â I cut into my burger, which I requested medium-well and it's RED in the center and still running red. Â I couldn't help it, but let a few colorful words fly. Â Another bartender immediately steps in, and takes my food away, and offers to send the manager over. Â I tell my husband to keep eating his meal, and low and behold, his shrimp is cold. Â
The manager was very nice and comped everything, and offered us coupons to return but COME ON. Â Mistake after mistake, a bartender with the worst case of A.D.D. Â who is more interested in throwing beer and glass instead of keeping an eye on things, not even a full menu?? Â Sorry, BB, but I'll never return to this location. Â In fact, corporate needs to know how this single location is killing the reputation of the rest of the chain.
Nothing. Zero. Zip Zilch. This place has been very busy since it opened but around 1pm on a Tuesday the lot was not full. The hostess told us that the patio was first come, first served, so we sat on the patio.
That's all we did on the patio - sit. No less that 4 different servers walked by at least twice each. They waited on others around us, but none of them stopped at our table. After an uncomfortable amount of time (those of you who go out enough understand), we decided to leave. I had gotten past the point of having to ask someone to serve us.
I let the hostess know and she seemed amazed. Another server offered to serve us immediately. I thanked them both and told them to let the manager know and maybe someday we'd be back.
I don't like to get up and leave but when the restaurant is half full and there are plenty of servers walking around and you don't get acknowledged, there is a problem. Might have been a one-off, but I have no way of knowing.
We were up in Nashua doing some tax-free shopping and decided to stop into the Bahama Breeze for a late lunch. Â It was a gorgeous day so we staked out a seat outdoors - these seats are first come, first serve and luckily we managed to grab one of the few that were open. Â Only downside to the outdoor seating? Â They recently re-paved their parking lot and on the hot day it smelled very strongly.
We started out by ordering some beverages - the hubby ordered a Caprihina and I ordered a Painkiller. Â A couple of years ago I went to the British Virgin Islands and drank my body weight in Painkillers. Â They are the local drink there, and I haven't had one since. Â Drinking one today gave me instant nostalgia for that trip and also a buzz.
We ordered the Yuca fries to start, which were deep fried like french fries and served with ketchup. Â I've had better elsewhere, but they were still really tasty and the perfect portion for two people to split. Â For meals, the hubby got the coconut shrimp meal, which came with four or five shrimp and a side salad. Â He really loved his shrimp. Â I got the portobello and veggie sandwich and opted for the tomato salad instead of fries since we had the Yuca fries to start. Â I almost regretted that when I saw the fries at a nearby table, but I ended up completely enamored with the tomato salad. Â Fresh, perfectly ripe tomatoes sitting in a pool of balsamic vinegar and topped with shredded basil. Â So simple and so damn good. Â I probably could have eaten an entire bowl's worth. Â The sandwich was also pretty tasty too although in retrospect I do wish I had gotten something rice and bean oriented instead given the cuisine. Â Our meals were the perfect portion - we left there satisfied without feeling like we could be rolled back to our car.
It took a few extra minutes more than it should to be waited on and to receive our meals. Â The waitress overall was really pleasant and competent. Â She was extremely apologetic about the wait for our meals; she said there was an issue with their computer system. Â Honestly, I barely noticed that the food was taking a while; it was 80 degrees, sunny, and I had a tasty rum beverage in my hand.
All in all, I was really pleased with this place, especially considering it's a chain restaurant. Â We will definitely plan to return.
The entire dinner was a disaster. Not like, "end of the world" type stuff yet will never return for dinner again.
Went here for a birthday party for my niece. It was a party of 16. Called ahead and got a 5PM reservation. Checked in with the hostess at 5PM to tell her we arrived. The hostess never even looked at me to acknowledge my statement. Simply stared at some menues or something. Thought maybe she didn't hear or was deaf, so I repeated it. She paused, continued to steer at the menues and whispered "yes". More confusion persisted and I simply went outside to wait. She never even asked what party I was with, number of people ect. She simply steered at the menues to ensure no menues would be stolen under her watch.
Someone else checked in and said the table would be ready around 6PM. that sucked. While waiting outside for my table I was forced to watch Billiards on ESPN 6 instead of the Red Sox in extra innings or at least the NBA playoffs. Asked to change and it actually happened 45 minutes later and after asking twice.
Now dinner-we order our drinks while the two dork waiters discuss logistics in "nerdy waiter lingo". Bring our drinks and spill 4 full sodas all over my nephew. The food was horrible as well. Got plantains for an appetizer and they were dry and tasteless. Got the curry chicken and rice meal and it too was plain and tasteless. Bills came and they messes up all the seperate checks.
Overall, I would not recommend this place to anyone I like. May be a coll place to hang out-side and drink a beer two. I just hope you enjoy watching billiardsor cricket.
Hmm, Bahama Breeze?
Back when we lived in Joisey, we used to go to the store in Cherry Hill and liked it so we were excited that a new location opened just down the road.
They have done a decent job of converting the old On The Border into the corporate Bahama Breeze look and things generally work OK.
The menu is good with lots of choice. We shared the Tostones as an appetizer and I had chicken curry and Caren had salmon as the main course.
Only problem (and one of my pet peeves) is that the bloody wait staff bring the appetizer and entree at the same time - how annoying is that? I was going to tell the guy to take the entree away and bring it back later, but Caren pointed out that he'd probably spit in it (or worse!) before bringing it back again.
Shame about this because it spoiled an otherwise nice meal Caren enjoyed her fruity martini and the draft Sierra Nevada beer was good.
Our waitress was really good (she wasn't the one who brought the food all together). Funny, we usually make a point of not ordering our entree until the appetizer has arrived - we won't make that mistake again!
Such a refreshing menu for this area. Yucca, cuban rice and beans, Caribbean inspired dishes and a significant seafood menu, including conch. Lots of fun girly drinks including "skinny margaritas" and an entire skinny drink portion of the menu. My biggest complaint, and I am attributing this to the waitress being new, is that the service was horrible. She forgot to put in the appetizer, gave us the wrong drinks, asked if I wanted to get my dish wrapped up as I was taking a bite of my sandwich... overcharged us on the bill, I could go on. Decor is kind of like  Key West meets Ruby Tuesdays. Also- they have a mouthwash dispenser in the bathroom- I guess they serve a lot of garlic?!
This place must be getting a lot of buzz after opening because wait times are generally 90 minutes +, and parking extends out to the main road.
After being taunted for years by the "Bahama Breeze" logo on the back of Olive Garden gift cards, my husband and I got pretty darned excited when we found out that the restaurant filling in the old "On the Border" space near the Pheasant Lane Mall is indeed a Bahama Breeze restaurant.
We went there on Tuesday, 3/13/12 which is the day after they opened. The parking lot was jammed which reminded me of Friday nights when On the Border was open... this space does not have enough parking spaces, which if you're starving can be kind of a drawback (which is what holds this back from a "5" rating). The good news though is that unlike its Olive Garden counterpart across the street - they take call ahead seating!
The decor is definitely chain - but in a way that tries to keep in touch with that island feel. It's very "chill". The dining area is well lit over the tables but the overall lighting of the environment is dimmer than I was expecting.
Before I get into the food - let me tell you about the service. The service here was spectacular. Our waiter was Chad and he was one of the better waitstaff we've ever had at a Darden chain (I mean... we actually remembered his name...). He was super friendly, great at recommending food, checked in on us constantly - but was not at all overbearing about it. Not only was Chad a fantastic server, the runners/bus-people were prompt and continually checking for/taking trash off of our table. I was thrilled with the service; I sincerely hope that this does not go down as the restaurant is open longer.
For the food... since it was our first time there, we did order drinks, appetizer, dinner, and dessert (we usually just get water, apps, and dinner). My husband ordered a standard mojito and loved it, I ordered a virgin pina colada (7 months pregnant) and it was one of the better ones I've had. For our appetizer, we ordered the coconut shrimp which comes with a citrus-mustard dipper. The shrimp were cooked perfectly (which is good, no one likes rubbery shrimp) and had a fantastic coconut crust. The dipper though was fantastic - I'm not typically a mustard person and I couldn't stop eating this dipper. The citrus tang combined with the mustard tang was an incredible balance. Quite good.
Entrees: I got the shredded beef & rice ("ropa vieja") and my husband got the jerk chicken pasta (since it's supposed to be a "signature dish"). The shredded beef and rice was quite good. The marinade used for the beef was spiced well and left the meat incredibly moist. It was balanced well with peppers & onions mixed throughout, and the yellow spanish rice was pretty standard - not dry, which is good enough to meet my qualifications. Around that was a black bean and roasted corn salsa that while it probably came out of a can (remember, this is a chain) it tasted relatively fresh. It wasn't soggy at all, the tomatoes tasted freshly chopped, and the cilantro wasn't overpowering. I really enjoyed it (and saved some for leftover lunch!).
For the jerk chicken pasta... I took a bite of my husband's and while I thought it was pretty good, I was honestly kind of underwhelmed. It fit the theme of the restaurant, but it tasted like standard Darden restaurant chain pasta overall. My husband said it was pretty good, but that next time he'd likely get the grilled jerk chicken dish instead because that would better satisfy the "jerk" craving he tends to get on occasion. However - I will say that if you're out with a picky eater who doesn't like spicy food and wishes they were across the street at Olive Garden - tell them to get this dish. Problem solved.
Dessert: We couldn't agree on something to split, so we each got our own thing and were thrilled individually with our selections. My husband ordered the key lime pie which is made fresh in-house daily with "real key limes". The portion was quite generous and it has a meringue on top of it... almost like a key-lime meringue pie. I took a bite of it just to see how it was - if you're a key-lime pie lover, you should probably get this pie if you go to BB. It was pretty good, and I'm NOT a key-lime pie lover. He really enjoyed it... he polished it off, and usually neither of us finishes desserts if we get them.
I got the banana supreme (I think it's called that?). Basically - it's slices of banana bread with a banana sliced up, vanilla ice cream, and a butterscotch-brandy sauce. It sounded basic... but it was the sauce that made it. The banana bread wasn't super moist, so it soaked up the sauce (which I freaking loved) and with a bite of vanilla ice cream it made a delicious dessert. It really hit the spot for me in terms of a comfort-food dessert.
We left there definitely feeling like we would go back there again once it's been open for a little while and their demand evens out. We were very pleased with the food & service - which at the end of the day is the most important thing about the experience.
My friends and I visited this restaurant a few weeks ago, only to find that it was still in the process of opening. We were excited to realize that it was now open and ready for business, so naturally we planned a date to go out tonight.
It was well worth the wait.
For starters, if you ever get Chad as your waiter, listen to anything he tells you. He was very knowledgeable of the menu, and helped me make a decision on what to eat for dinner; I am extremely indecisive when I go out. With his recommendation, I chose the Cobb Salad. It came out presented beautifully; it had chopped avocado, cheese, chicken, spring greens, egg,  and chopped tomatoes. Everything was arranged by group on top of the spring greens, and served with  vinaigrette and blue cheese dressings on the side. Everything was extremely fresh; the greens were not wrinkled, old tasting, or discolored, the tomatoes were extremely sweet, and the egg wasn't crumbled all over my plate. It was a delicious and filling salad.
Chad was very attentive to the table, even though the location was filled, he came to check on us often.
And not that my friend and I are complaining; one of my friends and I were full and ready for the check, but the second he mentioned "fresh key lime pie", we had to order a slice. It was AMAZING. Don't tell my mom, but Bahama Breeze's key lime pie is way better than hers. He described how they made it, and that it was made with fresh squeezed key limes. You could taste it. Once again, it was presented beautifully.
All and all, this was an amazing first experience at the restaurant. I really hope that this service continues into the future. But no doubt, if the quality of the food and staff continues as it is, this restaurant will be a success and go-to favorite for myself and a lot of people. It's definitely a new spin on sit-down food that the Nashua/Tyngsboro area needs.
Bahama Breeze is now open, which is located just south of the Pheasant Lane Mall in the former On The Border. Bahama Breeze is a fun place to eat and drink with a tropical Caribbean themed atmosphere and menu. I've dined at Bahama Breeze a few times when I was in Florida and enjoyed it! Â This is not quite the same feel as the other Bahama Breeze locations in Florida. I'm typing this review as I'm enjoying dinner at the new Bahama Breeze in Tyngsboro.
The restaurant has a bar area with seating at the bar and booths (with TVs) and the dining area has booths along the walls/windows and tables and green plants in the center. There's also a outdoor covered patio area with table seating and flatscreen TVs hanging overhead, which should be a very popular place to hang on nice days and evenings. I can remember eating in the big wooden patio area with fire tiki torches in Ft. Myers which was very open with live music. There's tropical music playing over the speakers here.
After work, I drove down here from Concord NH for an early dinner today when Bahama Breeze officially opened its doors to the public at 4PM (one of the first paying customers), "training in progress" signs were finally taken down after a long period. The place was moderately busy, but not mobbed yet. I was seated in the bar area where they were offering select happy hour (4PM to 6PM weekdays) appetizers for $5. I was also going to order a Bahamarita with my dinner, but I decided to go with 2 appetizers with my ice water.
For starters, the Coconut Shrimp ($5-special) were fantastic, (butterfly) sliced up the middle, spread out, coated with flaky coconut breading and deep fried, very crispy on the outside and hot & tender shrimp inside, served with a citrus mustard dipping sauce with a fresh pineapple slice. Also, the Beef Empenadas ($5-special) (4 of them) (similar to West Indies Patties) were  very good, filled with ground beef, potatoes, carrots, & spices, served with cool sour cream dressing and mango apple salsa.
For dinner, the Shrimp Creole over Yellow Rice ($9.99-lighter portion) was a pretty good spicy dish, which had plenty of tender shrimp (cleaned), green olives, sausage, and tomatoes served over yellow rice with black beans around the dish.
For dessert, the Warm Chocolate Pineapple Upside Down Cake ($5.99) was a very nice ending to a great meal. This cake was warm and very moist with a molten chocolate center topped with caramelized pineapple ring, cherry, raspberry sauce, butterscotch brandy sauce, and whipped cream. This dessert was very sweet and very rich, a great treat for those with a sweet tooth.
Overall, the food was very good and the service from my waiter (Justin) and other staff was very attentive and informative. I was told by Justin that the staff got to sample many Bahama Breeze dishes during their training. This is good since the staff can describe the food to the customers and make recommendations. Several staff including the manager stopped by to check up on things. I wasn't rushed as I was using my laptop to take care of some work and to write this Yelp review. By the time I was finished with dinner after 5PM, the place became very busy with waits to be seated. The patio area was open since it was such a nice day outside.
I am very glad that Bahama Breeze is now in my backyard and this will definitely be a great place to hang out with my buddies. Ya Mon!!!!

Great luck and prosperity to Bahama Breeze on their new restaurant in Tyngsboro, MA.

This is water under the bridge.
I have to note that this is the first official Yelp review of this Bahama Breeze since the place (officially opened) its doors to the public on March 12, 2012 at 4PM, an initial first hand and relevant experience of this particular location. I also reviewed another Bahama Breeze location (Sawgrass Mills) in 2008, which was a completely different experience from Tyngsboro. I had the intel several months ago that Darden was opening several Bahama Breeze restaurants including in MA and I would traditionally wait until opening day when I was in the restaurant to write a review. While the food I had at both locations was very good, the very well trained staff in Tyngsboro were more attentive and timely than the staff in Sunrise, FL, night and day experiences.
I will also note that Darden is opening a new Olive Garden in Clifton Park, NY in April (I saw it under construction). It would not be relevant to post a review of that location ahead of time & about experiences at other locations since iPhone users could be disappointed of driving to the place & it's not open yet.
