I'm upping the review to 4 stars simply based upon the service. I've been in multiple times over the past few months. The staff does a good job of chatting people up, remembering people, and having genuine personalities behind the bar.
I've eaten in here a couple times. Honestly, some of the menu items are hit or miss. The wings are good. The club sandwich was really "heavy." You know when your sandwich is dripping, there will be hell to pay later - one way or another.
You really can't beat $2 pint Tuesdays. All of the drafts are $2. All of them. It's a great day to come in and try a craft beer that you would normally drop $5+ on.
I guess the appeal of Bailey's depends on what you're looking for. If you want to pony up to the bar and drink...it's 5 stars. If you want to grab a table and get dinner...3 stars. If you want to drink and play pool or darts, 4 stars.
Let me start by saying - it's a bar............and that about sums that up.
Bailey's looks promising on the outside, but is about as boring as it gets on the inside. From staff, to overall atmosphere. Pretty bad if you suck as a bar in Canton (an area that is screaming for a need for nightlife). Instead of cornering the market - Bailey's fumbled the football.
I've been in there on a Friday or Saturday night and you would think you rolled into a wine and dine restaurant. It is that boring. I think the senior center at Summit on the Park is getting more action on weekend.
Maybe a sporting event is the cure? The TV's are strategically placed way the hell up on the corner portions of the patron area. Small, and inconvenient to see.
There is a larger area in the back with a larger TV - but it is next to the gaming area and not the most ideal place to sit. Not to mention - there is no one back there half the time. So for what little action might be going on at Bailey's - you might miss out if plan to hang next to the pool table. Which is a catch 22 because there is nothing else going on unless you are playing Billiards.
About the only place of action is the bar - which most likely is the drunks.
The only upside is the drink selection. But, I can't say much beyond that. I don't recall their food much - which means it wasn't much to recall.
Great story - they promoted their fantasy football drafts and enticed with a free drink or appy (something to that effect). Which was all fine - a group of us signed up to be there to do our draft - but then their WIFI was not working. No - it wasn't our computers for you tech heads. Thumbs up Bailey's! Great time on that one.......I ended up wasting time and money.
Obviously I don't care about heading back anytime soon.
It's been awhile since I've been back to this Bailey's but it was as busy as I remember. We stopped in for a drink and to shoot some stick on a Saturday night. The service here was really on point...a little shout out to Carrie for being kick ass and the rest of the crew too! Some of the pool tables looked a little rough but overall a nice spot to shoot since the Shark Club finally closed. Another high note here, the steel tip dart boards in the back - it's always a nice touch to play on real boards and not that electronic crap...just thought I'd mention it. I'll definitely be back for some more R&R.
Review Source:Came here last night with my wife, thanks to another well-located Groupon. Basically if the Groupon has anywhere remotely close to my Canton home, we go and check it out!
Location was odd, at the end of a strip mall with not much else going on except a Leo's Coney Island and a TMobile Store... the Kroger is in an even weirder location, as I probably drove by 20 times on Canton Center and would have never known these places existed. But oh well.
We came on a Friday night about 6:30, not really expecting a wait, but there was a short 10 minute wait which we stood by the bar. Not a big deal, lots of families probably just beat us in. And apparently their banquet room was being used for a private party and the pool table room was full. But we didn't care that much. Finally got a booth in the corner which was fine as we could talk easily enough.
We first ordered the mac and cheese bites and they were HGBD, hot, golden-brown and delicious! The spicy mayo on the side was tasty too, but I could probably eat a full order of them myself, they're that good. Unfortunately, our main dishes were not as fast... obviously the kitchen was slow as they were fully booked, but it was painfully obvious as the manager Mel came by to let us know they were backed up. So, I got my Ranch burger and it was cooked well (i always order medium, knowing that most places usually undercook medium anyway, and i'm happy with mid-rare). And quite tasty-not as many onion straws as Red Robin, but still good, and the fries were piping-hot and seasoned well.
Unfortunately, my wife's Black Forest sandwich was not as good... the bun was actually cold, like they just pulled it out of the fridge and the ham, bacon and toppings were kind of smashed into the basket haphazardly. We showed it to the manager and she was very kind about it... got them to make a new one, and comped us the sandwich. The second one was much better and it was a good amount of meat, bacon crispy and chewy, and bun toasty.
Overall, a good experience (we didn't do much drinking as I had to work the next day). Make sure if you plan on coming, join the All Star Club beforehand, just go to the bailey's website... you could get a free sandwich or burger just for registering! Just the -1 star for a poorly made first sandwich... kudos to Mel the manager for treating us right and making us feel like we want to come try again.
I went here for the U of M vs. MSU football game. The server was very good; no complaints with her. The drinks on the other hand, horrible. The proper amount of liquor was not poured into any of the mixed drinks and were "weak". I complained about FIVE of the 7 drinks our table ordered. (I ordered cabernet for my last drink since i didnt want my drink to be messed up again.) The manager re-made one and it tasted MUCH better (made it obvious that the bartenders were not pouring correctly). The drinks we ordered tasted like flavored sugar water with little liquor, if any (no joke). They need to each learn how to pour again using the measuring cups/devices during training.
Horrible experience here. Do not go. (Probably why it was the only bar that day that wasn't packed)
Baileys was a great find! Thanks to all of my fellow Yelpers for the good advice.
I went in on a Saturday early evening, not too packed. There was actually a wedding reception going on, so that was fun to watch!
I sat at the bar and Kelly to GREAT care of me. I decided on a sampling of individual appetizers.
1. Pretzel Dunkers. Extremely good, especially with the horseradish mustard queso!
2. Ultimate Nacho's with chicken & chili. Big enough for two people to make a whole meal out of! VERY tasty. Love the multicolor chips. It was lacking salsa and guac though.
3. Boneless buffalo wings. I went outside what I would normally order and had them with "hot honey" sauce. YUM!!! They were so lightly breaded I wasn;t sure if they were at first. Great Flavor and a good size portion for an appetizer.
The staff was friendly (not to mention HOT!), the place was clean and new. Lot's of TV's everywhere. Methinks this will be a new "go to" place for me!
I ate here with my husband last night. Â I had a groupon coupon. Â The menu is extensive. They have everything from sandwiches/salads to steak and chicken.
Neither my husband nor I were extremely hungry, so we both ordered appetizers as our main course. Â I had the buffalo chicken sliders. Â The only dissapointing thing was I ordered "mild" and I didn't find them to have all that much taste (other than chicken). Â I would totally get again, but will get medium... My husband had boneless wings and said they were very good. Â We also split an order of french fries, which were lightly seasoned and were excellent.
We at here on a Friday night and they had great drink specials. Â I think my husbands tall beers were around $3-$4 each and my Long Island Iced tea was $5. Â
The waitress (Kaitlin) was extremely friendly. Â A gentleman I am assuming was the manager came to our table and asked if everything was alright. Â
They have a "frequent dinner" card that offers various promotions for returning.
The location is conveinent. Â I plan on returning!
I have been here twice for an event. Â The food is meh, typical bar food. Â The first night i had the cobb salad with grilled chicken, which was actually more blackened then grilled. It also had an overwhelming amount of not fresh red onion. My wife had a sampler appetizer plate with standard wings, cheese sticks, potato skins and their soft pretzels. While true, they did have more beer then a normal bar, I would say adding some Sam Adams and Stella does not make a brew pub. Â
The second evening i had their wings again (this time pretty terrible, by the time i got to the 6th wing, they were soggy). My wife had a pepperoni pizza, which was comparable to Little Ceasar's Hot N Now, but twice as expensive and about 3/5's of the size.
The service both evenings was fine, the decor standard sports bar Americana. Â They did have a shuffleboard, which is cool as you rarely see these in bars now a days.
The 1 star comes mainly from the event that was run for the last 6 weeks which was billed as a Karaoke singing contest. When the final results were announced, it was obvious that it had little to do with singing and much more to do with rewarding the regulars and co-workers of the bar. The waitress apologized again and again to us after the very obviously staged results (one of the contestant's fiance was the asst. manager, the others regulars) and said she had suggested the manager come speak to us, but said it seemed he did not care, so wasn't going to. I mean, why not, a number of us had been spending an average of $40 a night for couples for the last five weeks. The shadiness continued when one of the contestants asked to see the scorecards and were not shown them and the judges and the m.c. for the event gave the contestant the cold shoulder for the rest of the evening, until we (the party) left and one of the judges told him he had done a great job singing and should come back when they do it again. Â While this reads like its just sour grapes (I would give this place a 2 as 3 means above average to me (aggregate being 2.5)), it was enough of a turn off that I definitely cannot recommend this place in good conscience, especially given the management's lackadaisical attitude.
UPDATE: It ended up that the Fiance of the Asst Manager won and second place went to his best friend.
They have a large selection of draft beers (tall and short) -- also they refill on nachos and sauce.
I actually tried the "POPCORN CHICKEN SALAD"... I know at the bar but it was actually good and they give me a large serving. Â I would go back; especially for the drink specials and happy hour.
DRINK UP EVERYONE!!!
Met some of our friends here for lunch today. Â Another couple was already munching on the soft pretzel appetizer when we arrived, and it looked pretty good so Ken and I chose to split the appetizer platter (it's clever name escapes me). Â Platter consisted of a pile of hot wings (lightly battered, crispy with creamier buffalo sauce), about 6 mozzarella cheese sticks, 3 standard potato skins and 3 fair-sized soft pretzels. Â Marinara, blue cheese, sour cream and spicy queso sauces accompanied. Â Really (really) liked the pretzels and queso - we'd get it again as a single app, for sure.
Ken tried their 'local' amber/red beer (Red Fox or something like that) - OK. Â I had a Grey Goose dirty martini (OK two, but who's counting!). Â My drinks were on special, $6 each.
We've been to Bailey's before, but it has been a while. Â It's a hike for us from Livonia - if we were in this area we'd do MF2, Szechuan, Palermo's etc, before we went here. Â But it wasn't bad. Â If Ken wanted it, I'd go... and get pretzels!
My coworker's and I ventured here after work last night. I must say it was a little difficult to find as it sits at the west end of a strip mall that has an east entryway. But, what I found inside was a very warm and sparkley clean establishment . Even the restrooms were super clean and I thank them for this.
Big screen tv's surround the main area with the bar situated in the center. A good draft beer selection with more choices than at most places. We ordered from the appetizer portion of the menu. The wings are of a larger size and comes in choices of flavors and heat intensity. The best motzarella cheese sticks I have ever had. Lightly breaded and nicely seasoned. Don't let me forget about the soft pretzels served with a tasty queso dip. Everyone at the table agreed that the appetizers are of a very high quality and were very happy with our selections.
The waitstaff were very attentive without being intrusive.
This is a chain restaurant known in the south as the Fox and Hounds.
I kinda dig this place. Â I can go there looking like hell and nobody cares. Â
The times I've been to Bailey's I've been with pretty big groups, and 95% of the time there's tables we we push together. Â The staff just lets us do our thing, which we appreciate.
Being a self-proclaimed beer snob, I appreciate their selection of
imports and can experiment with different brews without getting bored, or forced to make the all important decision between Bud and Miller.
Their food is one step up from bar food, but still very good. Â I can't say that anything grows a fist and punches me in the face, but I have no complaints either. Â Â They do make a pretty mean plate of nacho's, which is always a nice partner to a cold beer.
I've always had a good time at Bailey's. Â It's one of those places you can meet people for decent food & decent beer and just have a few laughs.
I must confess we started coming here solely because they show WWE pay per views and I am too cheap to pay to watch them at home. My husband is a wrestling fan and so I decided to find a place we both could enjoy watching them, him for the action and me for the food. It is also nice to come here and shoot pool.
You can find several coupons for Bailey's in the entertainment book and also sign up for their e club here http://www.tentcorp.com/ for special deals and a free meal on your birthday. Bailey's features many drink specials and fun special events that mostly revolve around sports.
This place has great appetizers and you can make a meal of many of them. My fave is the Bavarian Pretzels, which are fresh baked to order and served with excellent queso (which rocks with the tortilla chips too). They have these things called Chicken Billiard Sticks which have a good kick to them and remind me of Chili's southwest eggrolls. Another treat are the great Chinese Chicken Potstickers with the Red Amber Ale soy dip sauce. I like the combo platter to split as a meal, champion wings, potato skins and pretzels, all very good.
I really like the zesty Tortilla Soup here as well as the Newcastle Brown Ale Cheese Soup. Rich and filling. The Napa Valley Spinach Salad is hands down the salad to get here if you are so inclined. Chicken, Bacon, Strawberries, Raisins and Feta, need I say more?
I like the fish a lot at Bailey's. They have great beer battered Newcastle Fish and Chips but also have a healthier option of a Blackened Mahi Mahi over rice that is very tasty as well. The Chicken Fingers are good and quite a big portion. The Grilled Chicken Platter comes with a large variety of basting sauces and rice and is quite happy. If you want to splurge the Campfire Pot Roast is tender and served over delicious mashed potatoes.
One of my fave sandwiches is The Black Forest with smoked turkey and applewood bacon on a pretzel roll. The Philly Chessesteak is really flavorful with the peppers and onions. I also like the Campfire Pot Roast Sliders with the tender beef short rib meat. All sandwiches come with thick square cut fries which are delicious.
The burgers in here are just ok, a bit preformed for my taste. Stick with the much better options above.
There is something for everyone at Bailey's, go ahead and give a coupon a go.
Wow, I'm suprsied of the poor reviews this place recieved... Look at it this way. The Pub is immaculate for not being a chain restaraunt. Very clean... which is always important. For me there is plenty of beer on tap and in bottles, they dont advertise themselvs to have 300 beers and tap, they have 36 which is alot more then most local private owned establishments. If your looking for a huge selection of microbrews or imports try Ashlys, they just opened up next to Westland mall. As far as the music goes, they have a juke box, so if you dont like the selection get a dollar out and pick out what you want to hear... personally I like to mess with people so I play Hanah Montana... haha!
The food was great. And the seating was ample, however a patio would be nice however they are in a stripmall so it wouldnt be very senic. Service was spot on. I cant tell you how often I get slow or now service at a chain restaraunt so i'm glad to give these guys a good raiting.
You know what, I thought this place was gonna blow. Â And maybe it does on a particularly boisterous, busy night - I could see that happening, and I could see there being a lot of smoking too. Â Luckily I was here to celebrate with one of my co-workers who is shipping out to Japan, so we had the place almost to ourselves. Â OK, yeah that's lame too, but let me tell you what I liked about Bailey's.
1) Shuffleboard. Â Not the half-court version, either.
2) 36 Beers on draft, and more in bottles. Â As one reviewer noted, not many local styles... Â but what do you expect from a bar located in a shopping center?
3) The interior is not too shabby. Â Some wood paneling in the main bar area and booths. Â Another room in which you may smoke cigars and watch sports and play pool. Â And yet another room on the other side where the shuffleboard is.
Ok, but like I said I could see this place getting obnoxious and that is because I am a laid back old man at the ripe age of 23. Â The waitstaff was 50/50 cool and not cool. Â Also it felt like a chain restaurant which is never a good thing (I believe there's another one in Dearborn? Â Or something like that).
The beer selection is decent. Not much local brew on tap - just a good selection of bottled beer.
The food was good. Mostly bar food, but the queso dip and salads were tasty.
The wait staff was pitiful. Our waitress seemed like she was being forced to do her job. She seemed truly annoyed to be "helping" us. At one point I thought this was because she seemed to be the only waitress on the floor, but no, there was a table of waitresses sitting behind us having drinks. At one point I heard a lot of "whooo! whooooooo!" turned around to find one of the waitresses waving her tips around in the air... Really classy. Who knows why the manager wasn't keeping them focused.
I'm not really sure what to make of this place.
Is it a bar, pub, or restaurant? They have a ton of TV's throughout the place, but are playing sports on one channel, CNN on another, and music videos from some nameless music video channel on another. The music video channel also served as the background music for the restaurant. The music was appropriate for teens to twenty-somethings, but combined with CNN news says otherwise.
Just an odd mix of elements and poor wait service made this a dissapointing experience.
