I'm only giving it 2 stars because the brisket, potato salad and pinto beans saved it from being no stars. The chicken is boneless, skinless chicken and is extremely dry. The sausage was amazingly average. It should be against the law for a restaurant in Texas to serve food like this  and call it BBQ.
When the best part of the meal is the sides, you know you're in trouble.
My mom and I stopped in on our way back to Dallas from Canton's First Monday Trade Days. Â She was raving about the BBQ and I had no say in the matter - we were stopping!
She got the 3-meat plate with ribs, brisket, and sausage, plus a side of green beans and a side of coleslaw. Â I got the pulled pork plate with a side of green beans and a side of pasta salad. Â Who knew our plates also came with a side of ungrateful attitude by the employees?!
I asked the guy "how's the pulled pork?" Â Others might have said "it's delicious!" or "it's really moist" or "if you're looking for pig I prefer the sausage," but this guy just shrugged while staring at me. Â Ooook...
So I went for the pulled pork plate anyway, and asked for a lean portion. Â The pork was very dry, but likely because I asked for the lean portion, so that's probably not their fault. Â It was tender and tasted really good with the bbq sauce. Â My mom enjoyed her plate, as usual.
The cashier, who I think is the manager, charged us for two drinks even though I said I wanted water. Â When I corrected her, she acted like it was a pain. Â I also heard her being extremely rude to a customer who was in the drive-thru.
After my pork plate, I decided to try one of their fruit pies. Â The young lady at the pie counter was very friendly and told me which pies they had in their case, and that I'd have to wait about 15 minutes if I wanted them to make me a pie they didn't already have prepared. Â I selected the blackberry pie after lots of discussion with the girl about which ones were the best. Â It was SO good. Â The crust was flaky and there was a lot of blackberry filling. Â It tasted just like a blackberry cobbler, like the girl said. Â I'm so glad I don't live near these pies or else I'd eat them every day.
4 stars for the food.
1 star for the pie employee.
-2 stars for the God-awful bbq employees. Â I don't care how good your food is, if the employees suck then why would anyone want to go there?
