Normally, the way restaurants work is: you arrive, someone sits you down, then a waiter attends to you. At bar Louie, they do things a little different in that they just ignore you for a half hour to see if you pass the cooltest, then slowly serve you the rest of the night. $1 burger night is a trap; it's still cheaper than usual but if you think you're only gonna spend a few bucks, you are incorrect. Burger quality is ok.
Review Source:Encountered the rudest, "douchiest" bartender ever there a couple weeks ago. Me and my friend showed up hoping to drink some martinis/brews and watch a hockey game. We sit down, and the mean mugged bartender immediately tells us that "It's going to be 20m wait for any food". Um ok, thanks for letting me know bro. Doesn't ask us if we want to order any drinks, no greeting. We then ask him if he can turn the hockey game on one of the tv's. This is Buffalo, the hockey game not being on one of the 6 TV's is a fail in of itself. Â He just says "No, whatever is on the TV's is staying on, i'm way too busy". Seriously? In the time that he basically told us to f off, he could have changed the channel. It takes 5 seconds.
Since this guy was being extremely rude and unfriendly, we just left. I haven't been back since.
I would give this place 0 stars for service. Waited a half hour at least for service while sitting at the bar for our first round, and at least that long to get attention for the next. Then whe got the attention of a bartender to place a food order and he told us he would first take our drink order so we would get it in before happy hour ended and he forgot the order so we missed out on the last round during happy hour- plus after asking again to order food they never came back again to place the order. We left and are never going back.
Review Source:Sometimes my experience here is great, sometimes it's pretty bad. I think you'll be fine if you're prepared for what's inside:
- Some really great specials and pricing during the times where it's so crowded you can't reach the bar.
- Lots of people hanging out that generally frequent chain restaurants
- Decent food and drinks (try the pretzel sticks or spicy shrimp, avoid the dishes you should save for the restarants that specialize in them, like steaks and international food)
- touch and go service
You can do a lot worse - I would choose this place over Applebee's or Olive Garden any day, and if you're shopping & hungry, there aren't a ton of places outside of the mall chains anyways. But I do very much prefer Jack Astor's.
I wish I could rate with zero stars. I met a high school friend here dinner during my holiday visit home. I ordered a portabella mushroom burger and a glass of wine. It tasted fine. Fast forward to 2:00 a.m. and the awesome experience of puking my guts out. I've lived and traveled all over the developing world - I know food poisoning and this was it.
I felt so horrible ALL DAY the next day that I had to postpone my trip home. My mom called the restaurant to let them know that I'd gotten food poisoning from their food. She was able to leave a message for the manager who never returned her call.
Enough said.
Oh man, where do I start? I had hoped for a lot more before coming here. Â Our server, while friendly, was constantly absent. Â When he came around to check up on us he didn't think to notice almost everyone's cup was empty or close to it, of course never offering refills. Â Over the obnoxious over-powered bass filled room, we practically had to yell to ask for one each time he came to take one cup. Â
Burgers were pretty horrible and overcooked, tator tots were okay, but cost $4.00 for a small handful. I guess dollar burger night was a bad idea..
I was here twice & technically had great service from the wait staff. However DO NOT come here to watch a football game.
I sat at the bar visiting from Dallas.
The manager refused to change the channel so I could watch the game because a couple of other patrons wanted to control all 3 TVs on that side of the bar.
It's RUDE & UNPROFESSIONAL. My food/bev tab was more than their $3 drafts they were nursing.. And I just think as a manager he should recognize that not all patrons are local..
Was trying to bring some friends who'd never heard of or been to the Cheesecake Factory (they're Canadians from the burbs who never venture outside the city), but the wait was over an hour. Â We were hungry and decided just go across the street to Bar Louie as there wasn't a wait.
We had this hottie server who knew she was a hottie. Â No smile, all attitude, but was friendly enough to take our orders and check in on us.
Food was surprisingly good for what it was. Â I had the seared Ahi-Tuna sandwich which was cooked perfectly and quite yummy for $12. Â Seasoned fries were pretty decent. Â If this was a Joey's or Moxies (which this is similar to) in Toronto I would have paid at least $5-10 more for my order.
Overall nothing to really complain about. Â We got American serving sizes which is about 30% bigger than what I'm used to in Canadaville, and I unsuccessfully tried to eat all of it.
There were lots of TVs, the place was clean. Â I've definitely been to worse places in the B'Lo area!
I've only been here a few times, each time I was in the area to catch a flick at the theatre. Depending on my preconceptions of the movie, I either slammed a few shots before the movie or went after to enjoy some drinks and grab some food.
The crowd has always been interesting, ranging from people on dates, employees drinking away their hatred for retail, to the one out of towner who got drunk by himself at the bar0 then intruded in on my conversation and the asked for a ride home.
The drinks are always good, the service is quick, the prices are reasonable and fair, and the chairs are comfortable.
Their chicken wings were also surprisingly good. I was content with grabbing a charlies sub after Inception but alas, the food court was closed, the wings here were definitely better than the sub would have been.
I don't go to bars in malls unless I'm stuck there, and I was stuck there. Â We ordered safely--anything that tasted half-way decent after being frozen, then deep fried. Â So it was potstickers and these zuchinni bready things. Â And $3? $5? wine. Â That didn't suck. Â Most amusing was the West Seneca crowd out for the "big nite out"...
One star for being better than Jack Astor's. Â When are they bringing Hooters back to the mall?
GO HERE FOR $1 BURGERS ON TUESDAYS!!!
I went last Tuesday for dinner with some work peeps and it was delish!! They're regular-sized burgers, too. They hand out little slips with boxes that you can check off of what you want. I got one with guac, lettuce and onion strings.YUM. For 2 bucks. And PLEASE do yourself a favor and get a basket of fries that is big enough to share... they're gloriously delicious. PS the guac is delicious. It was very tasty and I only paid around 3 bucks for a burger... yay!!!!!!!!
I don't like the mall. I don't like working there. I don't like chain restaurants. I don't like douchebags in button-down shirts, wearing baseball caps, wielding iPhones, yelling somethingorother about a sports game. I don't like bimbos in clothing two sizes too small, gossiping and cackling in packs. I don't like using the word bimbo to describe other women because it feels antithetical to the feminist cause. But I DO like a drink or two after work, and I like it even more when I don't have to go very far to do it and there are drink specials. Thus, I happened upon Bar Louie.
I don't  remember what the special was that particular night I was unfortunate enough to stumble in, but it was not worth suffering the obnoxious crowd, the inattentive bartender and the overzealous dude with an acoustic guitar playing exceptionally shitty Sublime and Dave Matthews covers. I gagged a little just typing that. Whoever gave him a microphone should promptly be drawn and quartered.
I did not try the food here, but it's probably comparable to TGIAppleChiliTuesday's, but about $3-5 more expensive. Unless my previous description seems like your scene, I would advise potential patrons to go elsewhere.
Bar Louie has my favorite guacamole in the area.
They do have some pricey foods and beverages but it is a super comfortable setting to bring some friends, share a curved booth and eat and drink in peace. On game days you should get there a lil earlier to get a booth.
Their food is what I would describe as a combination of homestyle and california...sometimes healthy, sometimes heart-healing. but tasty regardless.
get the guac!
