Our first time - Happy hour was decent pricing ( anything is over here as we just moved from Vegas) surprised of the size and the neat patio. Loved the Rat Pack martini. Had the vegetable flat bread. Tasty. We will be back for pups on the patio night..

Hubby and I went here for drinks after visiting the Funny bone comedy club.  We have been to the same bar in Hampton, Va.  We had a quesadilla, which was good and four martini drinks.  The prices were steep for a drink (9.50).  They had a live band which was good.

Britt is the best server! Loaded tots, quesadillas and burgers are good but my fave is the OFF menu Mac n Cheese with Buffalo Chicken! You won't regret it, it is orgasmic.

Not a fan.  Went here with a group of 10 consultants after work on a Tuesday. Service was slow.  Waited excessively long for a hamburger.  Not a place for stake.

Great place, very friendly service, with flat screens everywhere!  What's better?! Any place that serves tater tots, with Ahi Tuna is good by me!

    not too bad

While there are good specials and decent drinks, the service is always terrible. Every time I have been there the service has let down the whole experience. Whether at a table or at one of the bars, it is always super slow. Drinks are usually empty for a while before the server/tender comes by. Typically we need to order when our previous drink is more than half full. This latest time we had to wait 10-15 minutes for our check because the bar tender was at the end of the bar talking to the other servers.

I had never realized this place was a chain! There is one location on my hometown of Naperville, IL and I used to frequent there often on summers home from college.

This location is pretty large, with lots of "bar area" seating and a seating area on the porch out front and a deck in the back.

They have great specials: $5 buckets of bud weds nights, one night has cheap burgers, half price flatbeads during happy hour, and I forget the rest but super inexpensive and okay quality for the price!

I came to this location twice (2 nights in a row) while on a business trip. The servers were friendly, the beer was cheap, the food was okay. Nothing to write home about:
    - hummus appetizer (okay)
    - chopped salad (I've had better, I thought it would be more chopped and have more "stuff" in there, I think they forgot a few ingredients that were in the description on the menu)
    - BLTT (probably the best entree I had, although a little heavy on the mayo for my taste)
    - Chocolate cake (HUGE!!!!! pretty good, I don't want to know how many calories)

I think the best part is the happy hour drink specials, this would be a place I would venture to drink/ people watch as opposed to a delicious dining destination.

Bar tender and waitress have been pretty friendly and attentive the two times I have been here.  The bad: poor beer selection.   Very limited and generic.  The burger I had was pretty bad as we're the fries .
I did have some fish tacos once that we're very good.  So, I guess it's hit and miss with the food here.

    -2.5 stars-
Came here with a bunch of friends to start off our Friday night. The place is right in front of Short Pump Mall and has plenty of parking. We made reservations just in case it was busy, but the place is huge so no worries about seating.

    the food.
-bruschetta: Soooo good. I could make a meal out of this!. It comes in this large martini glass that has a bunch of the bread lining the outside and the toppings in the middle to let you scoop to you preference
-truffle popcorn (pictured): Saw this on the menu and just had to order this. I am a huge popcorn fan! This hit the spot. So good and they give you a pretty generous portion. The flavors are just perfect!
-fried louie (pictured): Pretty tasty burger! They make it with the egg runny, which is how I like it. It was weird that the yoke itself kinda fell off my burger on its own, but I just scooped it back onto it. The fries that came with it were plenty, but nothing too spectacular.

    the service.
So the rating for this place would have been a lot higher had it not been for the service. I have been here before for a huge group event and I give them credit for being so accommodating to my group. As for being a regular customer, our server told us to sit wherever. It would have been nice to know the menus were already on the table as part of the centerpiece, but we figured it out eventually. What really bothered me was the waitress didn't bother to write our order down. I wouldn't be complaining if she didn't mess it up at all, but there were 6 of us and she took our orders by memory. Some of my friends asked for specific things to be left out and she seemed to forget that. Also, we seemed to always ask for water refills. She brought some for half the table and forgot the rest of us. Finally, as we were waiting for the checks, she seemed to not care and slam the checks in front of us. No big deal, but she gave none of us a pen to sign the receipts.

Overall, it's a great place to catch up with friends. Happy hour deals are a steal!

Ok let me start with this was not my first trip to Bar Louie so if you come there for 5 dollar buckets on Wednesday nights it's worth it. This past Sunday my girlfriend and I wanted to go out and eat on Sunday somewhere that we could sit outside. We wanted to do something different then our usual place so we tried Bar Louie, huge mistake. This place is over priced and every item other then the tap beer was horrible or had something wrong with it. We sat down and ordered a pitcher of Red Sangria and an order of Bruschetta. When the bruschetta came they put a bed of lettuce under the tomatoes as a filler, just weird. The Sangria was sooo watered down and tasted like dirty dish water. We did see someone order a glass, I don't know what that tasted like but it looked darker so by the glass might be the better choice especially at 18 dollars for a pitcher. Well since we were waiting on another couple and my girlfriend was starving I ordered the appetizer trio dips and chips. The guacamole queso dip was fine but the salsa, again dirty dish water for the taste. My first thought when I saw it was is that mush, then I thought it might be chilli, but no it was disgusting I wouldn't have fed that to my dog. Our friends showed up and then asked to try it and he couldn't comment his face said it all. At this point we ordered our meal. I got the turkey burger, now I will say I should have known better but I asked anyway. I asked the waitress if it was real turkey meat and not processed. The waitress said I didn't know but I don't think so. I ordered the burger anyway figured I try it. It was a processed burger and for 10 bucks I had better. If you want a good burger go to the 250 grill in Goochland on west broad st, that is a 10 dollar burger. However I decided since I ordered I would eat it until I found a hair in my burger and that was the end of it. Now I understand theses things can happen but for a 10 dollar burger that was really only worth $5, I couldn't even complain because I just didn't have the heart to give the waitress a hard time. On a good note the waitress was nice very chipper, kept checking on us so she was the highlight. I will never order food from them again, unless I am drunk and forget about this post....lol

Bar Louie was the bar I went for after work, and when I came upon this place, everything was dead on, nice clean, light and a nice patio to talk with some friends when your outside. Service was attentive when you head over the bar for a drink. I came on a thursday, for happy hour, music is loud of course when I came but usually it brings a great crowd for a great time. I will say this, I did try driving to head over bar louie on a sat or friday, pack as hell. So I stay away from heading over there on weekends and try to make my trips on thursday for happy hour. Very reasonable prices on drinks as well

I have been to 4 different Bar Louie's, and this one is probably my favorite.  I can't really explain why, it just is.  It is a nice place to spend a happy hour, with fairly reasonable prices and decent food.  It's not a high class establishment by any means, but sometimes you want laid back and relaxed.  When it is nice out, sit outside and avoid the noisiness of inside.  I like sitting where I can actually hear people talk, and I don't have to scream over music/nonsense.

This is a good happy hour choice. If you go during nice weather you can enjoy their outdoor seating in the back. The music can get too loud is my only real complaint.
    have fun!

I've never been here before and decided to go on a Saturday night. It was very nice inside with a bar and live music. Only thing is, the service is pretty spotty. We found somewhere to sit pretty easily, but had to wait for about 15 minutes until a server came and greeted us. Then, after we ordered and got our food/drinks, she disappeared for quite some time. Not sure if I'll be back.

Tried this place last night for $1 burger night. Good Luck getting a server.
Food came fast enough but she disappeared after that. W
aited 20 minutes for a to go box that we asked for 3 times. She brought the checks but never came back to pick up the credit card so we could pay. We tried taking it to the bar, this did not work either. It appeared that we were invisible. Bartenders never even looked our way. Same thing on the patio. Waitress walked past our table several times. After 25 minutes we were never served or even approached.

Bar Louie is very large inside with two bars. The back patio is big and the front patio has a few tables too, so lots of outdoor seating. However, I really just can't get excited about sitting on a patio and staring at the mall.

The service is pretty spotty, if you are not a regular and the bartender doesn't know you by name than you could wait awhile to be served. I was sitting at the bar and service was hard to come by even though a server walked by every two seconds.

The bar has a good amount of beers on tap. The cocktail list is long, but nothing looks particularly interesting. The menu looks like it has something for everyone. On Tuesdays its $1 burgers, I guess. The burger was nothing special and a hockey puck, but what do you expect for $1. The tater tots were good.

I ended up here because I could walk to it from the hotel, but I wouldn't make a special trip to come to Bar Louie.

This place is not good. While everyone is entitled to their own opinions, I simply don't understand what their criteria might be to justify a 'really like it' vote. In all seriousness, the food is pretty bad, service is spotty and the crowd is rarely one I would like to be around. And the servers there? I feel as if I don't see them at Bar Louie, then I will certainly run into them at Paper Moon - either working or 'enjoying' the sights.
And the whole 'cougar' thing? I guess there is a higher-than-normal number of women in their 40s / 50s dressed worse than their teenage daughters... but still, not an attractive look. FYI, being called a 'cougar' is rarely a compliment.

Went for the first time to a multi-birthday party celebration last night.

The ambiance is okay, the music's not bad and I guess if you're into watching sports there are enough TVs to make you happy.  There was some kind of a cover band too, obnoxiously loud and offkey.

The major weakness of this place is the mixed cocktails.  While reasonably well mixed, they come in tiny glasses and have NEARLY NO ALCOHOL.

It is a total ripoff.  I could not taste the vodka in what were supposed to be dry vodka martinis, and after two drinks the effect was similar to having two small cups of fruit juice -- i.e. none at all.

Better than your average bar food - the pita hummus appetizer is good.  They have a nice selection of drafts.  I like the double bar thing - that works and it is nice to have a choice of which bar to sit at.  I do like the cozy fire place area as well.

Happy hour does not end until 9pm....DRUNK! Prices are decent...and then it's all down hill from there.... way too crowded, staff not that welcoming, especially the "bouncers" checking id at the door. And what's up with the dimming of the lights around 7, seriously, i'm drunk and nowI can't see that's just great.

"I'm never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm..."

This should be the song in your head while you enjoy your clamato-miller light spritzer and 'set the vibe' with your skinny jeans, big man.  If you like 'em dry, then you'll love the cougar den known as 'Bar Louie'.  I sashayed into this nest of purring kittens this past Friday and did NOT leave disappointed.  You know the type, the kind of woman that normally hides behind the Barbara Walters mix of make-up and slightly off focus cameras....the kind of woman that wears silk slippers that never stink and whos hands are never quite as warm as you would like when she slips them up your shirt.  Ahh yes, the Queen of the 45 second drag on her cigarette...you know what else she can drag on for 45 seconds...your dignity.  This establishment is to bars what Olive Garden is to restaurants..you'll spend $18 on a $3 drink but at least at the OG the bad breath is understandable...here it's the taste of disappointment and most likely Werthers Originals.

Steer clear, unless you want a 'friend with social security benefits'.

Walking through the door you're instantly greeted by a rectangular shaped bar surrounded by bar stools. To the left is a living room style seating area and to the right oddly scattered tables/booths. The ambiance of the restaurant is puzzling and to the far back of the restaurant there is another bar.

The menu has the usual bar food and has a few entrees. There isn't anything with a wow factor. However, the tots are pretty popular there.

It's not a place for an intimate dinner or date. It's more for drinks at the bar and bar munchies.

Bar Louie is not a place you go to have intimate conversation or a gourmet meal.  It is a place you go with a group of co-workers/friends to have a few drinks.  The place is big and feels like an enlarged college pub.  They have pretty good drink specials and the food is not bad.  They have some great bar/pub appetizers - loaded tater tots being one.  A fun place to have a couple drinks.

Met a friend for lunch here and was about the 3rd customer through the door on a freezing saturday afternoon. Service was impeccable and friendly, though hardly a challenge since the place was empty at lunch. (Probably due to the unseasonable arctic temps.)

I stared at the menu for quite a while trying to find something interesting to order, finally giving up and ordering a "Vesuvio Melt" which, regardless of its name, was a grilled chicken sandwich with cheese. It was entirely ordinary, though I could not figure out why the outside of the bun was greasy.
Fries were good and served in an artery-clogging amount. My friend just ordered appetizers and they also seemed ordinary.

We hung out there for a long time and the wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Of course, there was no real customer traffic.

The place looked nice, but considering the food and the price you paid for the quality you get, I wasn't impressed. I could have had the same meal next door at Red Robin.

Kevin A's review is likely spot on for the after work crowd.

Being a frequent guest at this type of establishment you can imagine my terror when I spilled my vodka tonic all over my shirt when driving on Broad in my BMW 325i to get to Bar Louie.  No bother though, after a quick stop at Armani Exchange I was ready to club it up.  I was so pumped when I got in, a 17:1 male:female ratio really gets my gears going.  I quickly spotted some of my fellow brahs from Capital One by the bar and headed over to grab another VT.  I'm actually happy they make their drinks half strength and double price here: this means I can slam them like frappacino and run up a huge tab to impress the ladies. Speaking of which, the ladies were on point, I can't even count the number of 19 year olds I was throwin' game at that night.  All in all I'm gonna be BLOWIN THIS SPOT every weekend yo! Tight music too dog, more Armin Van Buren!

Yeah right, screw this bar and everywhere like it, this place is perfect for Short Pump or Shockoe Bottom and I will never be back.

The outside is impressive and what really attracted a co-worker and I to this place. When you walk in, the feel is a little bit different. You instantly realize that it is more of a bar than a restaurant. I was hoping it was more like a gastro-pub but it is probably more similar to a higher end TGI Friday's. I ordered the fish and chips and I couldn't get through the batter. It was way too heavy so I ended up peeling it off of the fish which wasn't all that great either. My co-worker and I split the spinach dip and chips which was so-so but the best thing we ate there. She had the barbecue burger and was not so impressed either.  I wish they spent as much attention on their food as they do on their drinks. I want to give this place 2.5 stars but I bring it up to a 3 since the service was above average.
