We have visited many Innsbrook restaurants and had put the Beach House on our list seeing the amount of variety on their menu. Â I have to say that the experience was average at best. Â Four-top tables in their bar area are small and could barely accommodate four diners. I guess I would call this place a bar first, restaurant second...
The service was fine, but the food that I got was not what I ordered exactly. Â I ordered the fish tacos and I couldn't decide if the meat was fishy chicken or chickeny fish. Â My wife soon confirmed that it was indeed fish, although the dryness made condiments necessary. Â Speaking of which, I also expected mango salsa and sour cream on the tacos, or on the side, but it did not come prepared with that. Â Instead, I got more of the spicy cole slaw side in the taco instead of the cabbage advertised (I know, cole slaw is made with cabbage, but still...) and a chipotle mayo on the side. Â When I asked for the salsa, I got a side of it and the sour cream as well "just in case." Â OK, thanks. Â I guess a word to the wise would be to check your order to make sure it is to your specifications. (I'm still wondering about the fish, although being so used to it fried, it was a pleasant surprise to see it grilled instead).
With all of the competition for the diner dollar these days, I expect all restaurants to step up and give me a reason to go back and try something. Â Sadly, the Beach Grill did not give me a reason to want to return. Â Maybe with more attention to detail in the kitchen and a little more pizzazz in their menu, I will change my mind.
