Over priced bar food. Â $11 Pastrami Sandwich. Â $15 Hamburgers. Â Sandwiches do not include French fries which are also overpriced and pretentious. Â Simple McDonalds sized fries with a sprinkle of dried Rosemary are $4.50. Â Don't get me wrong...the food was fine but it was not worth the price. Â Fridays across the way gives you the same food without the pretense and is an overall better value. Â I guess being an Iron Chef means you can mark everything up over 50% from what the average Joe would pay.
Review Source:Solid choice for airport fare. Stopped in for breakfast before a flight. I ordered the pulled pork breakfast burrito. The pork was tender and flavorful. The ingredients weren't mixed well, however, and I had pockets of eggs, cheese and cilantro clumped throughout. I wish they were more evenly distributed. The homefry style potatoes were top notch, crispy but not dry.
Staff was attentive and upbeat even early in the morning.
Heavy rock and roll music was a bit odd for the AM.
I hesitate to give almost any restaurant in an airport 4 stars, but Bar Symon is really quite good. Â Everything has a little surprise either in seasoning or ingredients or just in knock you down indulgence (Polish Boy is highly recommended for a big appetite). Â There isn't much good going on at PIT, but this is a good stop between flights.
