Not impressed. If the word bar was taken off this place, it would be the #1 place to get burgers in a basement. However it really falls short on the bar side of things. I ordered a vodka gimlet with Belvedere and got something that tasted like Play-Doh on the rocks (after the waitress had me spell out gimlet because she didn't know what that was). I ordered a beer instead, however if I want to just get bottles of beer on a subterranean level I can do that in my own basement.
Review Source:All I can say is that this is one of the best burger places around. Lets start by saying that it's located in downtown Farmington. As soon as you walk down the stairs you can smell the sensational aroma of fresh cooked hamburger and fresh cut fries. The hostess seated us immediately and took our drink orders quickly. The place was packed and the staff seemed to handle the rush flawlessly. The best thing is that you can build your burger exactly how you want it with every possible condiment you can think of. Also I love the fact that they have a buffalo burger YUMM!!!! Fresh cut sweet potato fries are a must have. Everything on the menu is great. The owner even came to our table to make sure that we were having a great experience. Not to mention they have some awesome beer's on tap. If your in the area I highly recommend stopping in for a burger. And if your not in the area I highly recommend making the drive because it really is that good. Godspeed my fellow YELPERS.....
Review Source:This is a GREAT burger joint!!!
My hubby and I read through a lot of the other yelpers, so we were waiting for a couple of the repeat fubars from them.... and maybe we were so happy because nothing odd happened.... nothing.... it is sad when that is the best surprise of the day! Â It seems like they are reading through what we write and make those changes!!! Â Our visit was top notch.
We walked in the back door like many of the other yelpers and there was a hostess that ran up to us to see where we wanted to sit. Â (It almost felt like the establishment read through some of the yelps that said it was kind of awkward- we were expecting it to be weird walking in). Â Promptly, a young, bubbly waitress walks up to the table and asks for our drink orders. Â I asked her questions about almost brewery that made the beers they had on tap... she was SUPER informative and made solid recommendations based on the type of burger we were going to order (if you like spicy burger pick x, if you are going with a not spicy burger pick y). Â Solid. Â I like that.
Orders promptly taken, food came up in about 15 minutes. Â My burger was done to perfection! Â Medium rare- 8 oz burger, pickles, cucumbers (yes, tried it and LOVED it!), spring mix, tomato and jalapenos) the side was fries with chili AND cheese. Â Super flavorful! Â My husbands burger came out perfectly... he had it gone in about 5 minutes and our friend's was nice too. Â 8 oz burger for $6.5, free veggies up to 5, one free sauce- fries extra.... My meal came up to $9.75 for the burger and chili cheese fries. Â Our double IPA was $5 and then a pint of miller lite was $3.50 (even though the website said they should be $3... whatevs). Â Tasty, prompt, friendly and super delish!
Drink orders were up in a second and the place filled up QUICKLY! Â We never felt rushed. Â I really, really liked it! Â I could not have asked for a better burger joint that is relaxed and good.
Thanks for the nice surprise- we will be back! Â But maybe next time we can leave out the Peter Gabriel and Supertramp on the Jukebox :)
after having a groupon for this place for a couple months, i finally decided to try it. Â my groupon was for $16 worth of food (originally purchased for $8). Â i went on a sunday night, and the lot seemed pretty moderately full for a sunday night. Â the entrance was located in the back, and they have stairs for you to go down into the restaurant (they are literal when they say basement!). Â upon entering, it was kind of confusing because usually a host greets you as soon as you go into a restaurant, but they had a sign telling you to see the host at the front. Â there wasn't anyone standing at the host booth so my boyfriend and i decided to seat ourselves. Â there were a lot of people sitting at the bar, but only a handful of people sitting at tables. Â a woman (i'm assuming she was a hostess/waitress) came to our table to give us menus. Â we ordered waters and got those pretty quickly. Â after we ordered waters we didn't see anyone for a while until a gentlemen came from behind the bar to take our food orders. Â i ordered the bacon cheeseburger, and my boyfriend ordered his own customized burger.
it took about 15 minutes, which is not long at all for us to get our food. Â our burgers came perfectly cooked, and they were made exactly how we asked for them. Â the burgers are deliciously juicy and they are well seasoned. Â i believe they probably use some type of garlic to season the meat because it was a really strong flavor. Â the fries were not like any fries that i have ever had before, they use a batter for their fries and they taste amazing with their spicy bbq ketchup!
all in all, this place gets three stars solely for the service and the way things are set up. Â i would not recommend this place to anyone who is expecting to be served as if they're at a restaurant. Â if you are used to that, then stay away from this place. you really don't get to order anything extra if you need it because the only time people come to your table is to take your order, check up on you once, and bring you your bill. Â other than that you pretty much have to get someone's attention if you need refills or anything. the burgers, i would give 4 stars. they are delicious and if you love burgers in a bar atmosphere this is definitely the place for you. Â but after reading reviews i can totally see why people were upset about the service, it's just not what you expect when you're paying good money for food.
by the way after my groupon we spent an extra $8, and all we ordered were two burgers, fries and 2 waters. Â so the place is pretty expensive for a burger joint after adding on sides and building your own burger! also, not very kid friendly at night time (very loud music on the jukebox)
Was there for lunch on a day off.
Burgers were good, came out as ordered. They were very good.
Service was a left a little to be desired. Waitress didn't seem to interested in letting me know what kind of beer they had on tap or what kind of beer they had in the cooler. I ended up just getting a water..will chalk it up as a lazy waitress and not fault the establishment. Unfortunately, as we turn more into a service related states and no longer a manufacturing state, we are going to see more and more lazy service workers..
Will go back, will probably just swing by the bar before we sit down and ask the bartender what is on tap so I can enjoy a few beers with my burger.
Basement Burger Bar has been on our shortlist of spots to try, and finally got around to it this weekend.
During the dinner-time hours, this establishment is very family friendly, and I was suprised to see that they accomidate large groups, despite the bar's relatively small size (there were two parties of 8+ people in here at one time).
I have a weakness for fried pickles, and had heard good things about them here, so we ordered Frickles as an appitizer. We got about 7 breaded and fried dill pickle spears that came with a side ranch dressing. They were hot and stayed crispy (unlike other fried pickels I have had, that turn soggy within minutes of leaving the fryer).
The build your own "burger" option appears to be the most popular, but be careful, anything outside of raw veggies and a single sauce is going to cost you at least $.50 each, so the price can rack up quick. First you have a number of choices for protein: angus beef, kobe beef, bison, black bean, etc. There are a range of interesting toppings you can try, and I am not going to do the math on how many combinations you can create (let's just say endless). I was impressed by the number of sauces they have, including a spicy ketchup, red pepper mayo, and pesto, amongst others.
You can also add an order of fries, sweet potato fries, or tater tots to your order, for an upcharge of $2.50 to $3.00.
I ordered a 6 oz. burger patty on a whole wheat bun with fresh greens, tomato, red onion, green olives, sauteed mushrooms, a fried egg, and garlic mayo. It was gut-busting delicious! My sweet potato fries came with a side of maple frosting (maybe?) which was a suprisingly delicious compliment to the fries. My fiance ordered chilli cheese tater tots, which were GREAT, but after having an appitizer, we both struggled to finish our burgers, let alone the sides. Next time, we will skip the appitizer and get straight to business with the burgers.
I only had two complaints, which other yelpers seemed to note in their reviews:
1. they aren't particularly good at guaging the doneness of their meat. Having read reviews that stated the meat was undercooked, I ordered medium well (hoping for medium) and got a burger that was well-done. My fiance ordered medium-rare, and honestly got a burger closer to the rare side.
2. their patties barely cover the entire bun- this isn't to say that I wanted more meat, I just want some burger in every bite! My burger was shaped more like a meat hockey puck, and while it all tastes the same, I would prefer a patty pressed a little thinner.
I've been here several times (weekdays, weekends, lunch, dinner etc.) and every time I walk away with mixed emotions. The food is very good and is reasonably priced. The Hot Mama burger in particular is spectacular. The issue is that the service--even at its best--is basically awful. I've always had to wait a looooong time for the food to come out, visits by the servers are few and far between, and you'll never see the same server twice. Taking a look around at the angry disgruntled faces of the other customers confirms that I'm not the only one upset by this.
I really want to love this place, as the food, location and overall atmosphere are great, but they have to fix the service issue.
Loved this place! After a long day of shopping a friend and I ended up here after trying to eat at a restaurant that posted that it closed at 10 pm, but didn't even take us at 9:30 pm:/
I was in a bad mood when I arrived at the BBB, but at the end I couldn't have been happier.I wasn't expecting such a great selection of "protein" options for their burgers, but I was really impressed because they had Kobe beef and even bison as an option. Of course those were the most expensive, but in this case you really get what you pay for because after eating the medium Kobe beef mushroom burger, I must say it was one of the best burgers I've ever tasted if not THE best. The staff was friendly and our server Justin was more than we could've asked for, he was courteous and very informative. When we said we wanted to split the mushroom burger he agreed that Kobe would compliment it and that we should have it cooked medium to get the best flavor.I'm very glad we took his advice. We also got chili cheese fries which was surprisingly just as delicious as the burger. On top of all that I just want to add that I was really happy that our burger AND fries came split in 2 equal portions in separate baskets which I didn't expect. I know I will be coming here many more times and taking anyone who wants to enjoy a darn good burger to try one at BBB. They really do have the best burger in metro Detroit in my opinion.
Meh.
Don't get me wrong, the burger tasted good, I just wasn't blown away.
I ordered the 8oz  bacon cheeseburger medium.- It arrived medium rare borderline rare.
There was really no excuse for error considering my fiance were one of maybe 10 people in the joint at the time. I could understand if the place was packed and they were rushed to get orders out- but it wasn't.
I still ate the burger because I hate sending food back, I just left the core of the burger on the plate.
Honestly I can make better at home.
Their lack of local brews on tap is kind of a bummer as well.
Do people really drink Miller Lite by choice these days? Blech
Maybe I was expecting too much from the Yelp reviews saying that this place has 'AWESOME' burgers.
More like OKAY burgers at best.
I think for the money being spent on a burger- I'd rather drive down to Bates and get a couple sliders with fries and a coke for half the price and double the taste.
Growing up this space was a over priced coffee shop/hang out called the Grand Cafe. They to have concerts, I don't remember how many times I saw such Farmington rock n roll legends, We Captured The General or Eminent Domain there. The guitar player of Eminent Domain was my hero.
I was glad to see the space is now being used as The Basement Burger Bar, the same people I use to see hanging out there in highschool, are now here drinking beer instead of coffee. The place can be a little crowed, but the staff is nice, and the pricy burgers are worth it.
I always get the Basement Junk Burger which has everything on it but the kitchen sink. There's always drink specials, they have tv, but it's a little to busy to really enjoy the game. Add in a movie at the Civic Theatre you got yourself a great date night.
Feel a little duped by this place. Â Don't get me wrong the food was ok but for this place to have 4 stars is a little misleading. Â I came in on a Saturday afternoon with my lady, we took a seat and I immediately took notice of all the TVs. Â That accompanied with the open layout really makes me think this is a great place to drink. Â Since it was noon on a Saturday and we still had shit to do, I opted for a Coke.
I ordered a Hot Mama, the toppings and the burger itself were good but really that's about it. Â I was expecting something amazing like Bates in Livonia or Blimpy Burger in Ann Arbor. Â Those are fucking bad ass burgers. Â Instead what I got was a meat patty similar to a small ball smothered in cheese. Â The bun was small, the toppings were scarce and all that combined really made me wonder what all the hype was about. Â Not to mention I ordered my burger Medium and I got a gooey Medium Rare.
At the end of the meal I was satisfied but expected more, much more. Â One of my biggest complaints is the fact that there are only about 4 or 5 beers on tap. Â I think maybe one of them was a Michigan brew, if that.
All in all, it's not a bad place just not what I'd expect for a place that has four stars. Â Tone it down yelpers, not everything is outstanding.
To put things into perspective I had a burger from 5 Guys today and it was way better.
The BEST fries I have EVER had! The sweet potato fries a delicious too. This is coming from a person who hates sweet potato fries. They are served with cinnamon sugar butter which makes them almost like a dessert. Also the black bean burger is the best I've ever had. The only down side about this place is that you it's small and there is not a lot of seating so you might have to wait but it is well worth the wait.
Review Source:This place is cool-ish. Daily specials can make it cheaper and the burgers are cooked to order. That works for me.
The most common of the specials is either 2 for 1 apps or half off apps. We had some poppers and some chicken wings which were quite tasty. Beer selection here is quite good, you can bring a moderate beer snob and not have to hear any big sighs or anything. Staff seems to be reasonably on the ball and friendly, so no worries there.
My husband ordered the angus tropical burger done medium with the swiss, bacon and pineapple, he took a pass on the rest of the junk that came with it. He was quite happy. I went with a medium rare kobe build my own. Bacon, sharp cheddar, garlic mayo (Liz R is right, they mean it, still did not stop me from getting extra), spring mix, tomato and black olives. It was superior to the hubs' choice quality wise but he insisted that I was falling for the snobbery that is kobe, ummm ok. Ya got me James, I have the palette to tell the difference so I'm obviously brainwashed. He got some tots to make it *fairer*. Whatever.
I liked it here. I'd definitely go back.
I ate here over the summer (I just joined Yelp) and I still remember the food being delicious and the place welcoming. Â I had a great coupon (Refer local), so I splurged with a friend and got the Kobe Blue Burger. Â Very good quality meat, cooked to our spec of medium.
I love the option of choosing the protein: Â several types of red meat, as well as turkey and black bean. Â Very modern and hip to people's tastes. Â Oh, and very good beer options! Â You can get your domestics, but they also carry Michigan microbrews on tap. Â My friend and I are were having her last meal in the States for awhile, so we stayed for two hours with some good beer after the meal.
Inside is welcoming, not too sporty, but did have a few flat screens for a game. Â Friendly staff. Â Parking in downtown Farmington is good. Â I could see this as a good place before or after a movie at the Civic Theatre.
I like that they are in the basement, but the possible tradeoff for them is less foot traffic. Â There was a decent crowd on a summer weekday evening, but you should definitely visit and keep a great burger place in Farmington!
If you want drinks and burgers, this is the place to be. It's not very big, so you might have a wait, but it's worth it.
I don't remember what I ordered (I think it was the avocado burger)with a side of tater tots, but it was great. The ingredients were fresh and at just the right quantities. My husband had a build your own burger which was outstanding!
We also ordered a basket of frickles for the table which disappeared pretty quickly. Perfectly coated in a crispy batter and deliciously vinegary. Â I could eat here once a week.
This place is just awesome. Its not just the burgers that make you come back its the staff and the atmosphere. This restaurant is set in a basement but you'll forget that soon enough. Dave and Jamill are the owners and they are former restaurant workers so they know whats makes customers and workers happy. They have many different promotions and specials. I don't  know them all except two on Monday appetizers are half off all day. Get the Quesadilla yyyyuuummmy!!!!!!. Then there is Thursday where there 6oz burgers are only $3 dollars with the purchase of a drink. Its the best in hamburgers just ask Channel 4. I would recommend this spot plus they have tater-tots. That was an automatic win for me.
Review Source:Service was great! We were greeted with a hello, smile and small talk. Our waitress was very attentive and checked in on us several times. She quickly took our drink orders, explained the protocol for ordering from the menu. The person who served the food to our table was flat, but I guess it that's her job, I too would be bored.
Food: Frickles were PERFECT. Absolutely the best fried pickles i've ever had. The breading it light was crispy crunchy. Nice dill pickle spears. They weren't greasy or soggy. You will want an extra ranch with them. Quite pricey, BUT from 3-6 p.m. appetizers are half off : )
Tator Tots: WHERE do you ever get to have tator tots, other than at grandmas? SO crispy and hot. Smother them and ketchup and good to go.
Burgers: meat is good, dense, but had a flavor (seasoning) that isn't my favorite. We couldn't put our fingers on what it was. I like just salt/pepper. I had the bacon cheese burger off of the pre-fix burger menu. It was very very good. MESSY! I wouldn't order it with those onion ring things, as their flavor was a lil overwhelming. The bacon was cooked to perfect crispness. I think I would try a regular cheese burger, next time. My husband and son both enjoyed their regular burgers. Boy had a side of fries. They were crispy and nice n hot.
I don't know how, but I think we may have hit a happy hour time or what but our order only came to $28 and should have been double. I would recommend getting there between 3-6 and save some $$.
It's a small place and am sure during peak hours it fills up quickly.
We will definitely return.
Yum yum yum!
I love the variety of toppings for burgers/salads and that you can customize it yourself. The chili cheese fries are the best I have ever had, although they are very filling so I would recommend just getting those themselves or a burger itself, not both together.
Service is friendly and fast.
If you want to get creative with your burgers then this is the place to experiment all types of the toppings here.
Please note -- this place can get pricy so if you get a deal, then jump on it. Â Lucky i was able to get a $3 voucher to which allowed me to get $25 but of course i had to spend minimum of $35. Â (which isn't a bad price -- $10)
They also have a variety of beer selections if you are a better person.
Staff was great and i would go back there but of course i will need an additional discount voucher because OH BOY they will empty your pockets quickly.
4 stars -- because of the distance from the city and high price.
Came in here one night because we had a TravelZoo deal and wanted to check in out before seeing another movie at the Farmington Civic Theater. I ended up ordering a Kobe burger with onions, lettuce, garlic mayo, bacon, and honey mustard, with tots for a side. AWESOME. BURGER. By far the best burger I've had in Michigan, with the exception of Zingerman's Roadhouse burgers.
Excellent, super tasty, and cooked perfectly. I realized, though, that the lettuce was probably a bad choice because it made everything on the burger slide around. Also, be warned - the garlic mayo is VERY garlicky! I LOVE garlic and even I was blown away by how much garlic was in that mayo. Â The tots were cooked perfectly, too - fluffy potato on the inside, crunchy and yummy on the outside.
I had a beer that tasted like fruit, too, and now I can't remember what it was for the life of me. But it was awesome. Definitely worth checking out. But get there early! The place was PACKED, and it wasn't even 530 when we showed up!!
I hate to admit when I'm wrong but I will right my wrong. Â After a couple of years, we decided to give BBB another chance after friends kept telling us how good it was. Â We went last night and they completely won us over! Â Everyone in our party of five loved it. Â Everything was cooked as ordered, service was great and tasted great.
Highly recommend the Snickers bar cupcake for desert! Â Also recommend getting there early. Â We went at 5:30 and we barely got seated and there was a line waiting.
I think everyone has "their bar." Â You know that bar you go to when you want to hang out with your friends and have a good time, and where everyone knows who you are? Â A good phrase for it is a "home bar." Â For me, that would be the Basement Burger Bar. Â
Technically I've been going here since they opened up. Â I remember the summer where I turned 21, about 3 weeks before my birthday I went in here with my best friend. Â We were both intrigued by the idea of walking downstairs to a burger bar. Â We each had a burger and we were hooked. Â The mayonnaise gave it an extra kick, and the meat was so scrumptious. Â
Since then I have pretty much stopped eating burgers at other places. Â I am being honest with that statement. Â These burgers are so good that whenever I'm at another bar or restaurant, I choose not to get a burger because i want to save my "burger appetite" for when I go to the BBB. Â
They also serve tater tots. Â I noticed that the reviews on here haven't pointed that out. Â How many places do you know of serve tater tots? Â Plus they're delicious. Â Especially when they're dipped in mayonnaise. Â
One day that I definitely look forward to is Monday. Â On Mondays I go to the BBB for trivia and to hang out with friends. Â The bartenders all know me and treat me very well, and the owners are usually walking around making sure everyone is having a good time. Â
They have a sign above the bar that says "A man's home is his castle, but his bar is his sanctuary." Â That pretty much sums up what this place means to me. Â
Go there. Â You won't be disappointed.
We live in the area and have been hearing that this is the place to get a good burger. Finally an entertainment book 1/2 off coupon spurred us to try it out.
On our first visit we arrived during a busy rush but were not discouraged when the hostess told us it would be 20-25 minutes. After 45 minutes, and watching people that arrived after us getting seated, we inquired what the wait time would be and were told that it was going to be another 20 minutes. Needless to say, we left without eating.
On our second attempt we made a reservation, based on the recommendation of a co-worker, and were seated relatively quickly. That's where the prompt and speedy service ended. We waitied about 10 minutes to place a drink order and then another 15 to order food. Our food arrived about 45 minutes after we ordered.
As far as the quality of the food is concerned the burger was cooked to order and the fries were hot and cripsy, but overall the burger (a bit dry) was definitely not the best I have ever had.
The bottom line: Slow service & "OK' burgers = probably won't be returning....
My boyfriend and I decided to try this place today thanks to all the reviews on here and checking out their menu online.
My boyfriend is a carnivore while I'm a vegetarian. I figured he'd loved to go to a build your own burger bar of sorts and after seeing two options for me on their menu (portabella cap and black bean), so I figured why the hell not.
First off, pretty easy to find on Grand River and a decent size parking lot (lots of spaces filled though today) behind the bar. When we entered the basement it was very cool looking, definitely a bar I'd go to often if I lived closer.
We we're greeted immediately by our waitress and she explained the whole process of how to build your own burger. I love that you can just circle what you want with sharpies instead of having your server try to figure out everything (makes it easy on them too). I decided on a portabella cap with mozzarella cheese, red onions, lettuce, tomato, and spicy ketchup with a side of sweet potato fries. My boyfriend got an 8 oz. angus burger with American cheese, bacon, and onion straws with french fries and cheese on the side.
It didn't take very long for our meals (it was right before the dinner rush) and man oh man, what a tasty "burger"! I'm so pleased to find places that can give us vegetarians the options to make our own burger. My boyfriend said his burger was definitely the best he's ever had (originally his #1 was at The Root in White Lake, MI, but now it's #2 on the list of good burgers). The sweet potato fries were great and wow, that dipping sauce that came with it...amazing!
The price wasn't terrible considering all the options you can get on your burger.
Overall a great place and next time I'll have to try some drinks. It looks like they had a nice selection of beers too. I highly recommend this place if you want to really give yourself an option to customize your burger (way better than Red Robin).
I tried this place twice before deciding to save myself the trouble of going again. The service was slow, the waitstaff was unfriendly, and the food & drinks were overpriced. I appreciate the novelty of a low key and chill hangout, but this place is not relaxing - how can you enjoy yourself when you have to ask three times to get your drink replenished?
The only plus was the manager/man behind the bar who politely fixed an error that our server made on our tab - she charged us for two drinks that we didn't order. He handled it professionally.
I will not go back here. I will advise my friends, co-workers, family, and anyone who will listen not to go here. You are much better off going to the Rustic Pub if you want a quiet night, or Dunleavy's for a bite to eat.
Another <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Frestaurant.com&s=c5fe485af4df376130bee54f875814d79c4d7913e1258123b1206d2bdbf4873b" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://restaurant.com</a> review!
I am not a burger or beer aficionado by any means. Â So I can't pen this review for anyone looking for "Michigan's Best Burger" or whatever honor is being given.
Our server was great, and the novelty of writing your order on a dry-erase menu was not lost on me. Â I am the total picky order-er, so this was great for me.
While I did get a burger, and it was good, I have to go back for the build-your-own-salad option. Â As I said, I'm super picky, so the idea of getting a salad with just the stuff I want on it is very appealing.
Cute basement atmosphere, good burgers, and good service. Â We'll be back.
This place has the most toppings I have ever seen for a burger, of which the first five are free. The Cheese's and "Premium toppings" are additional charge but interesting. The Build-your-own burgers are very good! They also have Build-your-own Salads with about the same toppings.
I would suggest to go before 6:00pm on weekends for dinner to avoid the wait but it does turn over fairly quickly. The interior is small so seating is cozy with TV's all over for sports viewing.
Just a little up the road from my office, the BBB boasts great burger fare from a  build-your-own menu to a standard All American Cheeeez burger loaded with at least 3 types of cheeses, all housed within a subteranean bar setting. Its downtown Farmington location may limit parking a little but it's worth having to search for a spot to get your burger fix here.
Today was my second visit to BBB with my special lady friend and we were pleased with the great service and the great food. She ordered the Tropical Burger with pineapple and I ordered the 8oz. Angus Bleu Burger that came with roasted pepper mayo, lettuce, tomato, bleu cheese and onion straws. We ordered a 1/2 order side of beer battered fries to split too which was just enough to compliment the huge burgers. Both mine and her's were stacked high with toppings (so much so that you really need to press the burger down to fit it into your pie hole), Â cooked properly and seasoned well. The fries were crispy and tender in the center, just how I like them. Food = straight A
I like the build-your-own menu and I also like the fact that you can choose your protein from 6-8 oz. Angus, $11 Bison, $11 Kobe beef or a bean patty. In fact the only thing I noticed that needed improvement was the quality of lettuce. Both times I've been here their lettuce is wilted and soggy so I pull it off. All in all a really good burger. So if you like the "gourmet, topped to the max" style burgers, this is your utopia. I know we'll be back.
On a side note, Motorcity Trivia plays here Mondays - bonus...and they have two really nice steel tip cork dart boards with dry erase scoreboards - double bonus!!
We love build-your-own burger joints, and this is one of the better ones. Â I feel like places that offer quality burger options, season it just right, and offer a wide variety of fresh toppings rise above the rest. Â Although I'm a huge fan of Red Coat, my fiance is not, claiming that they don't season their burgers at all. Â Sadly, I would have to agree. Â I guess I have an unexplainable place in my heart for that burger. Â
We stopped by last night, a Friday night, to find it near-full. Â Tigers were on TV, good beer was flowing. Â Ahh...life is good. Â The hostess warned us that the kitchen was backed up (appreciate the warning) but seated us and got us started on drinks right away. Â Any place that has Shorts on tap is A-okay in my book. Â We started off with fried pickles, "Frickles", and each a side salad. Â
We really like buffalo and were excited to see that as an option. Â The burger was cooked to order--I love when a burger place can get medium right. Â The meat had a great flavor. Â The toppings we chose were plentiful and fresh. Â My fiance especially liked the garlic mayo. Â
We will definitely be back again!
Homer - Yelp Definition: Somebody who reviews all the places in the city they live and rate them high so people will come.
This I am not. Rate them as you feel they deserve based on the visit you are reviewing. Â
I read the reviews before going here. Some good, some not so good. I wanted to give this place some time to work out the bugs of a new restaurant/bar. My daughter and I wanted to try something new. She mentioned that some of her friends have been here and they kinda liked it. Done...let's try it.
Well Burger Boy found something to his liking. I can't believe it a burger named after him, Italian Stallion. The only thing missing would have been a few slices of spicey pepperoni(think about it BBB). Eight ounces of Angus beef prepared medium/well(actually more medium). Some marinara sauce n top sprinkled with some mozzarella cheese lettuce and tomato(exchange with pepperoni).  Now that is a one aaa spiceyyy  burger. Throw in some of their french fries which are pretty good and it was one good meal. We opted for water instead of a drink or two or three and the check came to under $20 with tip.
The service was pretty good in that the waitress came back four times within seven minutes to make sure we were ready to order. There are a few tv screens that could be larger. Definitely worth going back for a beer and a burger(maybe a salad next time).
