What can I say.......it's Bash's. Â When I lived in Lubbock, this was my go-to place. Â Its near campus and always has good specials or just plain cheap beer. Â It is a college bar, it is run down, and probably not the cleanest place, but that is why I like it. Â It has character, its been there forever, and that is what makes it great. Â Service is usually good (I usually just order form the bar anyways, so I guess it is always fast). Â The thing that we continue to go back for is the beer selection. Â They have 15 or so taps, but they are normally just standard not-so-exciting light beers and standard beers that you see (Guiness, Harp, etc). Â But their saving grace is the 150+ bottles that they have that you can drink for good prices. Â I want to say that they are all normally 3.75 or less (2.50 on Sundays) and you can get some good ones in that for cheap (Unibroue, Dogfish, etc). Â Also, on Saturdays, they have 2.00 domestic pints all night.
The only reason I do not give the place 5 stars is because it is in Lubbock and therefor smoky. Â I will never give a place that you can smoke inside 5 stars....but that is more on Lubbock than the bar.
I had to write a review for "Bash's". Â I am one of the originals that opened this place in 1985. Â I bartended from 86-88 and loved the atmosphere and location....we started the live music their and now love that they have helped launch some pretty major acts such as Pat Green and Cory Morrow.........not sure if they still do "quad" nite anymore. Â Bash's in the day used to have the coldest beer on tap in town (according to all the beer distributors anyways).....I hope all is well in Lubbock and look forward to my next visit their.
