The Local

This was my third trip to The Local and first time for food. First, the place looks great! Second, the Texas beer list is great and their drink prices are good. The first two times I was here I just came for beers and everything was fine, my third trip, however, changed that. Our group of 4 all got drinks without problem and then we ordered food. The couple we were with received their nachos pretty quickly and we kept waiting and waiting for our taco plate. Finally we asked about our meal and one of the bartenders told us they were having issues in the kitchen and our food would be right up. More waiting while people around us kept getting food. The food eventually arrived and the plate was underwhelming at best: 3 tiny tacos with hardly anything in them, especially lacking in meat, and the side of chips and queso seemed to be about 8 chips and a tiny amount of queso. Our friends felt bad for finishing their nachos before we even got our food but once we did get it, they felt bad for the disappointing plate. I will say the pork belly in the tacos was pretty flavorful but as I said before, definitely not enough of it. It's a bummer to have had this experience because I had high hopes for a new bar here in Lubbock but I doubt I will be back.

Ate here on Thursday. The place looks awesome. Much different than before. The bartender who served me was very nice and helpful. They had a new selection of Texas beers. I had the special which was very delicious chicken tacos with pickled onions and sauce, chips and queso for 5 bucks. Even though the burger and beer for 5 is gone with the old rockys. I think the new menu is well worth missing out on the free beer. I will most defiantly be eating here for lunch more.

Complete facelift & much needed.  Best atmosphere on Broadway.  Owned by the same couple who owns PM & they did a great job.  Had a pizza, it is quick & tasty.  New beautiful bathrooms (if you had seen them before you would understand why they were worth mentioning).  Huge selection of TX beers.
