This is one of two gay bars, but some days it does go from being a straight bar to being a gay bar....I never really know when, but it is a pretty good bar. Â On Sundays they usually have a drag show, too. Â
They do have a fun dance floor, but it is usually packed and there patio is a great place to get out of all the crowdedness. Â It is an 18+ bar and has been around for a while. Â I feel like they have the better music of the two gay bars in town, but I do feel like this place is less clean than the other.
It is a nice place to go for the gay community, but by far nothing that special compared to other towns. Â I guess it is better than not having a gay club in Lubbock.
Overall, it is a good place to go and it is fun, but nothing really that special outside of Lubbock.
How can you review Luxor and not mention the COOLEST thing about it?
Luxor is the only club I've ever been in that has a light-up dance floor. I'm talking disco style. Saturday Night Fever. Stayin' Alive. You HAVE to know what I'm talking about.
How f'in cool is that!
Luxor has been around for many years, and it has consistently been a fun place to go. The music is a complete range of dance.... you might hear Chicago house, booty rap, Britney Spears and Venga Boys all in one night. Now I don't know if they always do this, but at one point they would even throw down some country. I have to admit I walked out the one time I heard them do that, but I guess you can't knock variety, especially in a place like the LBK.
The drinks are stiff, the skin is plentiful and the music is banging.
It may not be for everyone, but you have to respect a place that is been around this long in Lubbock of all places.
Club Luxor has been around for several years here in the LBK.
It's delightfully trashy. It has stripper poles, moderately priced drinks and pretty decent music.
Every so often, you'll run into something like a techno remix of "Get Low" by the East Side Boyz. That was definitely strange.
Sammy, the bar manager, is definitely the coolest bartender these days (look for the guy in the cap in the middle of the side bar upstairs).
It's a great place to hang out, shake your grove thang, or to hang out with the local gays and lesbians.
You might work on your salsa step and your cumbia because every so often they start Latin music around 1 a.m. It's a ton of fun.
The bar is open Wednesday through Sunday, but Friday and Sunday are the days to go. Wednesday has kareoke, but I haven't been in about a year so I have no idea how many peeps are headin' out. Fridays and Sundays are packed for Wet Boxer/Wet T-shirt and the drag show, each respectively on their own night.
