I'm sad I no longer live down the street from this place. It was one of my regular stops for quite some time, whether it be to go out with friends, or to pick up an interesting brew to enjoy at home after a day's work.
The only downside to The Beer Trappe is the size of the establishment, and the seating. While on a weekday night, it's quite cozy, it can be difficult to find a place to sit on weekends.
Overall, it's a great place. I'm proud to have The Beer Trappe in Lexington.

When is a bar more like a home? When it's Lexingtons Beer Trappe! No food, not cocktails, not wine, just beer and only the good stuff. You can't find Miller and Bud here, but you will find some of the very best brews from around the world. The rotating taps always have somethign yummy to tempt every beer pallett and the bottled beers can be taken home and enjoyed as well.
want to learn more about beer? Try beer school every Sunday at four and six.

I remember when it was getting ready to open. I was so excited and was not disappointed. My love of beer started when I got into college and has continued to grow to a point that I want my own brewery. The Beer Trappe has provided some of the best variety of beer in Lexington. I have always loved how their taps rotate and you can get mroe different craft beers here than at any other place in Lexington. I have gone here a few times with my best friend. I do enjoy a cute man, but the only thing I can say is that sometimes this place can be an over ran sausage fest. I, from time to time, feel intimidated by the clientele but I also enjoy it much more than the regular bar scene. All in all great place. One of my favorites.

Very sweet place with a collection of beers unmatched in Lexington.  The rotating taps keep the variety going and the bottle selection is superb. I also love the fact that not one person in the place mentions crappy beer like bud light that dominates other lexington establishments.  Life's too short to drink crappy beer, and I'm glad that there is a place to do that now.

Small joint. Great beers. Good times. This is definitely worth a stop if you are looking to enjoy some quality beer in Lexington. They do only have like 8 taps, however when one runs out, it is replaced by the time you need your next beer. They do have a good selection of bottles to choose from behind the bar (they'll even get something cold for you for your next beer), not to mention a take-home refrigerated section (corkage fee applies if drinking it there).
We were lucky enough to score the couch and chairs in front while we enjoyed our beers. They do have like two tables available outside the front doors.
We lucked out ending up here and i would definitely return if i ever end up in Lexington again.

Beer Trappe is the place that keeps me sane. Six taps going  that change all the time. Solid bottle list for take out. Updates on Facebook. My only complaint is that there is no wi-fi (Please put in wi-fi so I can do some work while having a beer) and that the Belgian/Scandinavian selection is not that great.  But they bring Zombie Dust to town every now and then, and I love hanging out in the middle of the afternoon when there are few people there.

Went to the block party over the weekend. Stopped in for a brew and was pleasantly surprised to see Southern Tier Creme Brulee Stout on tap! As the bartender said - it won't be there long....  it was so good!

I love that they have more than one gluten free beer, and they're actually good.  I'd go here more often if I knew I could get a seat at the bar, but it's pretty small.

Awesome. Thank the gods this place exists in Lexington. It's not a place for picking up a 16-pack of Bud Lite. It's made for people who actually like craft beer. Very nice.

Great little bar! This place is all about beer. They do have nice big TV's to watch the game but this is a place to have a good conversation with someone. It does not have music blasting so loud you can't think let alone talk, so you can actually have a conversation with several people while having a good beer. Not all the beer are great I have had a few that where down right undrinkable but they have something for every one. The bartenders are helpful with out have a air of snobbishness about beer, they tend to love to talk about what they have on tap and find a good beer for you. I have been given a few tastes of whats on tap free of charge, this is what make this place so special they care about you having a good experience in their establishment. This place has people of all ages and back grounds but mostly college students and professionals.

Pure beer geek heaven.  What's on tap rotates almost daily.  A wide selection of beers to choose from (import and domestic).

    Loooooooove it!

This place is for the pure beer afficianado.  There is no food, and very little that is mainstream, beer wise.

The taps rotate with high frequency (follow them on facebook to know what's been tapped last), and if you don't like what's on tap, they have a whole wall (a whole frickin' walll!!) of quality bottles to chose from as well.

So, why not 5 stars?  Well, it's small and often packed.  So it gets loud.  There is no seating except at the bar, I think a chair and a couch inside, and two tables outside.  There are a coupel barrels which peple can stand around.

It's not really their fault (refer back to the small size of the place), but the atmosphere can really detract from enjoying a good pint when the place gets full, and it gets noisy.  Normally, I don't care about that, but it interferes with me ordering another wonderful new pint!

If you like beer, go here.  Hands down.  If you like trying new beers, then why are you not here already?!

They have a sampler of all 8 taps for I think around 10 bucks.  It's a good way to try everything.  I usually go with the "order a full glass of each" method, which I have had varying results with.  :)

Paradise. That's all I can say.

Seriously. If I had to pick a place to sit in for the rest of my life it would be here.

I cannot exaggerate enough how amazing this place is.

Okay, okay... I consider myself a beer snob. I am okay with that. I've come to terms with it-I cannot order a crappy domestic beer, and it's even to the point where I reluctantly order imports. I am a craft man all the way. (On a side note, I just got back from a 7 week stay in Italy-and may I say, that American beer blows European beer out of the water.) So when I set foot inside this store, I just about exploded.

All along the left wall is probably the best craft/rare import selection in Lexington-maybe KY. They have the standards for this region-Sierra Nevada, Bell's, Dogfish Head; but then they have others- such as the complete Stone lineup-btw the 09.09.09 ale=amazing-and they have it. But the more exciting thing is on the right side of the store.

I refer of course, to the taps. They apparently have weekly rotating taps, and when I went there, the lowest quality beer (in my opinion) was the Brooklyn Lager. And when that's the worst beer on tap, you're doing something right.

Seating is a bit hard to come by-although the mocha leather couches are divine- and it can get loud even if there aren't that many people in there. But all in all, this place is amazing. Also, my recommendation is go after 10 or before 7 on week nights. The crowd is much less substantial.

The Beer Trappe is a welcome addition to the neighborhood! Over 400 beers with an ever-changing variety on tap. Prices are very reasonable, bartenders are friendly and there's nary a Budweiser or PBR to be seen! It definitely needs more outdoor seating, and the acoustics are such that it's loud even when there aren't very many people, but I highly recommend giving it a try. Plus you get to enjoy the parade of cougars going into The Moon next door.
