Great place that my wife and I stumbled upon by accident really.  We were in Santa Rosa to see the Schulz museum but decided to also check out Russian River brewpub.  The wait for a table was ridiculous at Russian River but the hostess recommended we check out belly.  The beer at Russian River was delicious of course, but we just didn't have the time to wait for a table!

anyway, what a pleasant surprise! the food was excellent, the atmosphere was really cool, and they had a great beer selection too.  Service was excellent.  When the waitress found out we were on our honeymoon, she sent a us a ridiculously delicious dessert on the house!

Gotta say I'm glad Russian River was so packed!

Oh my goodness! Great selection on tap... I had Dogfish Head 90min IPA on tap for the first time here... what a joy.

The food was fabulous... I got the Grilled Cheese with bacon and pear, my husband got a pulled pork pizza. They both were so good we went halfsies, which my husband normally would never do.

The ambiance was great. We came in during lunch on a weekday so it was nice and quiet.

    Had dinner there last night.
    Great beer list BUT
Ordered the burrata w tapenade and home made bread.
Plate was delivered w/o any tapenade.
Flagged down the the person who delivered the plate and questioned about the missing ingredient.
Response was , "I thought that it was strange that it was missing, let me check"
A Few minutes later our waitress came by to say they have been out of the tapenade since yesterday! When I asked her if there was a substitution she said she would check w the chef.  4-5 minutes later she came back with a thrown together alternative that was in edible.  Luckily we were already 3/4 finished w our dish.
Kale salad was delivered with chopsticks sticking out of the dish.  A sign of death in Asian cultures.

Chef and staff have a long way to go to get their food and service together.

Great atmosphere for a night out and drinks, but the food was terrible.

I had the tuna salad which I was nervous to even eat because of the look of the "brown tuna steak". My boyfriend had chicken pizza that tasted like it was frozen and microwaved :(

Overall, if this place just would keep the food simple Belly's would be a great place. Like a said, good place for beer lovers; not "foodies".

Great beer selection, has alot of variety and rare/hard to find beers on tap. Got the chicken wings as an appetizer and they were super spicy! Me and my friend were gulping down water as soon as we took a bite, but we are pretty weak when it comes to spiciness :) we then split a Margarita pizza for our main meal and it was delicious and definitely big enough to share. Location is great, right there on 4th street and it offers indoor and outdoor seating. Will be returning soon!

Nice and airy, seems like you can always get a table. Food is unbelievable and very fresh. Perfect beer list to satisfy any beer drinker.

We had a pizza (cheesy and crunchy) and the cranberry chicken salad wrap. Both were above expectation. They let you sample beer which allows you to try something without committing.

This is also where I fell in love with the 21st Amendment Watermelon beer, so thank you for the recommendation!

Laid back ambiance and functional set up. Excellent service.

    Highly recommend!

No matter how packed it is, it's easy to get a table.  The most I've had to wait was 5 minutes.  The menu is different, not too cluttered.  The food is perfectly fine.  Little pricey for the portions, but if it were the City, would be a whole lot of food.

Because they've nailed these things, I have to give them 5 stars.  I've been here 5 times, and each time was a pleasant experience.  The service is pretty constant and they work HARD.  That being said, they didn't object at all when I did the annoying thing of ordering from bussers and other waiters.  They took it in stride.

They're brand new so hitting these things right off the bat is a serious accomplishment.  The decor is a little too trendy for my taste, but they're

What a fantastic new restaurant with exciting beer menu and delicious unique menu!!  BUT, what REALLY boosted my rating was the service. To me, there can be the best food and beverages, but if the service is poor, I will never return regardless how good the food is.

My server was immediately on the ball. Her name was Rose/Rosalie(?). She scored points right away because she was attentive from start to end--My pet peeve concern servers who pay me scant attention or are out right rude--seemingly because I am a female dining alone. Those servers are difficult to get their attention because they are busy yucking it up with men or groups and maybe  they assume they will get better tips from men and groups than a single girl??

Anyway, Rose/Rosalie took time to get me a nice table and settled in. I was (happily!!) overwhelmed with the huge beer menu. I thought I knew beers, but I seriously needed some expertise to make my selection and Rose delivered!!!--It was obvious that she has a clear understanding of all the many different beers, because she was able to describe each one's tastes, and best pairings. Rose listened to what I normally like then hooked me up with two of the best beers I think I have ever had! First I had the Dubbel Ale (yum!!) then she suggested to switch it up to the Tricera Hop--Great Call (super tasty!!).  For dinner, I had originally thought of the pork, but it  had been a hot day and sounded too heavy. Rose suggested the Kale Quinoa salad and Mac n Cheese. Both dishes were outrageously delicious and absolutely perfect with the Tricera. Rose made great recommendations, and I really appreciated that!!

I am defintely going back, and the HUGE reason I am returning is because of my server Rose/Rosalie. Her knowledge of the menus --along with her friendly, efficient,  and professional service--made my dining experience the best it could have possibly been. The only bad thing is I have forgotten Rose/Rosalie's name? I hope I get her service--and her correct name--at my next visit!!

I am only trying to open the eye of the owner  before you spend all your money keeping this place open, because i know many who have.

I try new places to see success so i can eat there again. Working and living in the industry for many years Ive seen great places OK places and bad places. Our experience gets one star for the waitress by the name of Mavony, i think (she will know who she is when i finish this story). She was this front of houses saving grace by being the one to try and make our experience a great one, yet she didn't have the team to support her.

We walked in to this BAR at  6pm to find a place to dine just my wife and I for date without the baby. We stand in the middle of the place looking to make eye contact with a front house employee seeing that there were two bartenders a manager and about 5 servers and no buser. (could be wrong but pretty accurate). It wasn't until i approach the bartender with a hello i was acknowledged. she told to to sit wherever. we sit next to the POS system where these party bunch (employees) hung out and talked about there drunk experiences. Finally, ten mins later,  Mavony is cashing a check out for a table and notices us and brings us menus and waters considering it was about 100 degrees sat night. we place our orders almost as soon as we were ready because she was on top of her game. we get sliders, tacos and the dread full ahi salad. sliders were ok, not much flavor but not foul. while the manager by the name of Rosie cleared our plates i started to describe our next dish and she rudely interrupted and told me she didn't care what i ordered next. I wanted to leave then, but i was still hungry. the mango salsa on the tacos was one of the best Ive had i only wish it had good fish to compliment it. Instead it was dry and chewy. But the best part was the foul ahi salad ahi is supposed to be served rare, and it is a RED fish. This AHI WAS BROWN AND GREY!!! i was so brave to chew on it and put it on the rim of the plate to show i tried it. The server promptly saw i wasn't happy and when she asked what was wrong i asked her to try it and she looked scared and took it to the kitchen. 7 mins late? Rosie comes out to tell me that the chef (who wasn't there that night) tried it and said it was fine and that i don't know what I'm talking about because I'm probably not familiar with the fish AHI TUNA. Then then said it  was a Translucent fish!!!! At that point all i saw was a brick wall and shut down. She has no hope in the industry. Of course it was takin off the bill but i would have loved to eat the salad since the dressing was real good. We left in a hurry to eat somewhere else since we were still hungry.

Its obvious this place doesn't have a defined leader in the front or back of house. It needs some direction and needs to find employees that care about their job. I'm only so lucky to work in a place with such an awesome and motivated TEAM it makes my job worth every min of it. I hope Belly can find their team and leaders to succeed otherwise they will just be another place that closed. I will try you one more time but it might be a while. Good Luck!

I went there with my wife and her aunt for dinner on a Sunday.  I heard good things so I was excited.  I read the menu online and was pleased with what they had to offer.  Not a huge selection but a nice variety of food.  I was hoping that a place called Belly with a pig logo would have pork belly and sure enough they had it.  We get there and we were surprised at how small the place was.  We were disheartened to see drums and guitars in the corner.  We had no idea there was a live band.  A place that small has no business having a live band.  We couldn't hear ourselves think.  It was ridiculous.  We had the drunken prawns for an appetizer and it was alright.  We all ordered the "Crispy Pork Belly" which was a big mistake.  Anyone who's had pork belly before knows what to expect when getting crispy pork belly.  What we all got was NOT EVEN CLOSE!  Mind you, it's not that it tasted bad or was unpleasant.  In fact we all thought it tasted good.  What we all got was basically what looked to me like chunks of pork shoulder.  I mean, we cut into it and it turned into pulled pork.  Not to mention it wasn't the LEAST bit crispy.  So if you're looking for crispy pork belly, you won't find it here.  False menu item if you ask me.  So to sum up, small venue + live music = not able to hear yourself think.  Crispy Pork Belly doesn't really exist on the menu.  Great beer selection.  If you are thinking about coming here, grab a couple pints and sit outside if a live band happens to be there, and don't order the pork belly.

I don't traditionally spend a ton of time in this area, but I was very impressed with this joint.  The beer list was plentifully stocked with local craft brews and a few non-local craft brews.  The wine list also looked extensive.

Food was solid.  I went splits with the ole battle axe on a Breakfast Pizza and the Quinoa/Kale/Beet salad, in an attempt to balance gluttony with sensibility.  Both were outstanding.  Pizza dough is hand-made, hand-tossed and the ingredients all of solid quality.
Take Note: if ordering the breakfast pizza, order at least 1 egg per person, otherwise there may be some fighting at the table.

The beets in the salad were very well prepared and the salad itself, well dressed.  Not sopping in sauce, but beautifully tossed to really allow the flavors of the entire dish to shine.

Service was prompt, but not overbearing.  Very friendly, knowledgeable and definitely solid with recommendations.

I'll definitely make my way over here again!

What a nice addition to downtown!  My son and I went there for lunch based on the Yelp raves and we couldn't agree more.  Friendly and attentive staff.  However, my waiter brought me the wrong dish.  I ordered sliders - he brought the fish tacos.  But one look at the tacos and I couldn't turn them away - a mistake became a blessing.
Thanks for the mistake - they were wonderful tacos.  My son was also very impressed with his ribs.  Welcome to Santa Rosa and hope you stick around.

I want to like this place.  I really do.  I think they have something very unique going on here, but for some reason, they can't seem to get it together with their staff.  I've now been 3 times.  Love the small plates of food (when you can get service to order them)

Great beer selection!  Reasonable.  But please do something about the service.  There are too many other fabulous places on 4th street that I will be happy to give my money to, and all they have to do is get me a beer, and take my order sooner than waiting 20 minutes.

3/4  table was underwhelmed. Arugula was on every dish we ordered. Niscois was bland, pizzas were ok, fish tacos terrible. Charcuteri was ok, cheese was ok. Service ok. They were out of several items on menu. Come on guys. With all the good press youre going to have to up the game.

    More like 3.5 stars

Just went back about a week ago and was glad to see they have worked out most of the kinks. The still seem a tad disorganized when it comes to greeting, seating, and overall responsibility. But to see they have a real menu now was a breath of fresh air. All most everything we had was delicious except the cold soup which we sent back and came out piping cold, yup cold. Usually when you send something back they fix it, not Belly, they delivered us a 2nd substandard product but thankfully it was the only huge let down of the night.

Once they figured out who was serving us all and all was good. Our server was actually very attentive and personable which we all enjoyed. I finally did get to order the pork belly and it was real good. It could have been trimmed up a bit more for my tastes but it was tender and delicious just as I had hoped it would be.

NOTE: Great selection of craft brew!

I assume they will continue to grow from their experiences and at some point have a well oiled fine tuned machine. Its not there yet but at least the food is decent and the brews are delicious

We went here with a group of friends on a recent trip to Sonoma. I love researching restaurants, so I took on the responsibility to find done cool restaurants to visit on our trip. I chose Belly left coast kitchen based on the positive reviews on yelp. I could not have been more embarrassed!! This restaurant was not good. The food was boring and unimaginative. The burger was dry and overcooked and the flat iron steak was rare despite the server asking my friends how they wanted their steak cooked. (They ordered them medium). Why bother asking if you aren't going to cook it as they requested? We all felt that the food was just meh..nothing special. I do not recommend this restaurant.

I've gone twice int the past week. Sat at the bar on a Friday night with the wife and at a table with 6 people just after the Tour finished.. Big improvement over Checkers. I love the decor, the TVs, the connection to the sidewalk. Good beer, good sliders, good salads. The chicken wings need work. Sort of bland.

My friend and I came here for a drink after watching a movie.  It was not very busy so we sat at the bar thinking we would get quick service.  We waited for almost 10 minutes before the bar tender took our drink orders.  Once we ordered, we waited another 5 minutes just to have the bartender tell us they were out of the beer we wanted.  The whole time we were waiting the bartender was flirting with other customers and was more focused on finding someone to do a saki bomb with her.  This placed seems cool, but we ended up leaving because we didn't get any service.

New favorite place. The kale quinoa salad is so addicting. The ahi plate is one of the best and the serving sizes here are perfect. Part of the dining experience, not too much and not too little. Still lots of other things to try on the menu, and cant wait. They have all the sports games on the tvs. The service has been great, the place is nice and open. Music is usually really good. Wine list and beer selection top knotch. yum

    Belly, Belly, Belly.

This place is fantastic. Awesome vibe, GREAT beer selection, and the food - oh my. The food is spectacular. Plus, they play the best music!

My husband and I shared the sliders and the mac and cheese - I couldn't have been happier with how delicious everything tasted. The bartender (Jerome) was friendly and funny...even though he mocked me for having a cider ;)

I plan to frequent this place many more times because I really just couldn't get enough. I'm so happy this place opened up in downtown SR. It's so nice to get a taste of some down-to-earth comfort food straight from the heart of Sonoma County.

My boyfriend and I went to this place thinking that it was going to be a new addition to Sonoma County's many great Taproom/Restraunts, but we were wrong. The beer and hospitality was great, but the food menu was ridiculous, especially for a tap room. For appetizers they had Seared Tuna($12), tacos, buffalo wings, a cheese and cracker platter($10), and a cheese and meat with bread platter($13), not exactly something to go with beer but more sounds like a wine bar upscale menu. I mean come on, you need food to pair with your beverage (which is beer, NOT WINE!) After our first beer we decided to skip the food and dine elsewhere.

Donn H is obviously passionate about her concerns.  But the food at Belly is remarkable.  This is obviously confirmed by almost all reviewers.  Can't believe she is the only one who is correct.

Every plate she derided is great.  Possible Belly had a rare off day but more likely Donn was having a bad day.  Rely on the vast majority of reviewers here.

Attentive service.  Classic menu.  Wonderful cooking team.  And, great beers...none of which I drank before reviewing.

Ive been here 4 times and each time is better and better. The food is delish, the beer/wine is outstanding and the service tops it all off.

Becks is behind the bar and continually provides an experience that makes you want you come back. She is one of the reasons we keep coming back. The whole vibe is just a super chill, fun environment, why wouldnt you want to be here!

There are a few other gals who've helped me as well and they were just as fun loving and sweet.

The sliders are great, crab cake yum, truffle mushroom pizza wow! If you haven't tried this place you better get over here quick, it's been busier every time we come and wouldn't be surprised if next time, there was a line out the door.

Wow, there is a reason it's named Belly...best pork belly we've had in a long time.
Topped off with the Moran Manor Anagram - a perfect pairing. Hats off to "Rock Chef" Gray!

Of course we tried a few other things: cerviche, seared ahi, mushroom truffle pizza and the most awesome brussels sprouts with chorizo. All were quite tasty.  The hamburger was the only thing that was not top notch. Over cooked and paled in comparison to all the other wonderful dishes we tried.

Belly is a fantastic addition to downtown. We will be back!

Came here around 5 pm on a Saturday evening. The tap room was not busy at all. We seated ourselves and ordered 2 beers. Although they pride themselves on having a large selection of craft beer (which they do) nothing really stood out to me. Mostly IPA's. We ordered the meat and cheese board, which came out beautiful, but definitely not enough flat bread for all the meats and cheeses. We had to ask for another plate, and it was still hardly enough. While everything on the board was delicious, it would have been nice if the server told us what three cheeses were being served. We also ordered the mushroom pizza which was a thin crust, and had tasty mushrooms and thyme on it. I'd definitely order that again!  Our waitress was nice enough but very slow. We ended up paying with cash because we didn't want to wait for her to come back in another 10 minutes. We did have 1 problem with the check. We were charged the wrong prices for our beers. Both the beers were .50 cents more on the bill than they were on the menu, but the server fixed the mistake with no problem.

Would I come back to Belly? I would for lunch, but probably not dinner. The reggae music was a tad over the top for us, but overall it was a decent experience. I won't write them off yet.

Bye-Bye Checkers, Hello Left Coast! The Belly of Santa Rosa, between 4th and Mendocino is the newest hot spot, featuring craft beers and specialty dishes you won't find anywhere else. The Owner of Tres Hombres in Petaluma and Chico CA is bringing something new to Sonoma county.  I had the opportunity to experience the opening night and was able to preview some of the chef's creations before they made it to menu.  The wings were spicy and tangy, the pizza was perfect, crispy just the way i like it, and the ginger soy thin cut beef was so good we had to order another.  Not to mention I found one of my newest favorite beer (Campfire Stout) on tap.  A mix of industrial and modern design (complete with roll up entrance doors) make it a relaxed and easy going atmosphere, different from your typical restaurant. Check out Belly!

I tried Belly for lunch and it was very, very good.  They still have a limited menu, I am excited for menu items to be added.  I was with three people and we all had the Asian Kale and Quinoa salad which was awesome!  So fresh and healthly and really tasty, please leave this on the menu.  I will probably eat it once a week for lunch.  I loved Checker's Chinese Chicken Salad so much, I needed a good replacement.  They offer chicken on the salad but I didn't try it and didn't miss the meat.

I look forward to trying some beer after work soon!

Belly is great! There isn't really anything like it in Santa Rosa, and it's a great addition to downtown. Just as a brief run-down

    1) Food: Fantastic. I had the pork belly, chile verde tacos, pizza, and tried some of their other dishes, and everything was amazing. They have a limited menu at the moment, but don't let that stop you, the quality makes up for it.

    2) Drink: 26 beers on tap, and I think 30 bottled. Good wine selection, and sake as well. Not only do they have a lot of beers, but they have a good variety (IPAs, stouts, pale ales, etc).

    3) Service: Well-staffed, well-served. Clearly all of the staff wants Belly to succeed and enjoy being at work, and it makes for a very pleasant dining/drinking experience.

    4) Price: Very reasonable. Not a fast food joint, but not insanely expensive. Let's just say that I would be willing to pay more than what they charge for the quality that I received. The drinks are priced like you would find in any other bar/restaurant.

Overall: Awesome place. I will be going back regularly! Check out what's sure to be a well-known addition to downtown Santa Rosa.

Brand new place smack in the middle of Santa Rosa's constantly growing downtown - had to check out the Happy Hour (3 - 6 pm) this fine weekday afternoon!

First impressions, they've done a great job with the place. There's a decent amount of seating, some outside, some tables (high and low, small and large) and bar seating.
Big shout out to Anthony, our server, the whole table was very impressed with his attention and knowledge of the place, after less than a week of being open!

Personally, we tried the Chicken Wings ($4 on HH, perfect blend of juicy chicken and spicy sauce, the sauce is tough enough to win over a spice nut, and even enough to be ok for a novice), Pork Tacos ($5 on HH, great sauce, very good tasty pork. A little on the chewy side, but not bad)
The flatbread is a pizza, don't let the menu fool you! But that said, it's awesome.

Overall it's very clear this is a place that cares a lot about doing things right. All across the menus (beer, food, wine) they had a wide spread, from the $5 pint ($6 on average across the whole list, and it's an awesome selection) or $7 glass of wine ($4 on HH) up to the $10-$20 pint/glass. You can class it up or keep it reasonable in equal measure, big points for allowing for that!

Excellent service, great selection, delicious food (and good portions for reasonable prices). All in all a great experience!

**One caveat to note is that the bathrooms are shared with Stout Brothers next door, which was fine during Happy Hour, but could get a little crazy late at night or on weekends.

Got to go check this place out prior to open. Great service, great location, amazing staff. This place will do very well. Pork and beer what more could you ask for? They also have a great wine and bottle beer selection.

Food: wings not over kill on spicy. I prefer wings that make me want to cry but the flavor was great. Ribs fell off the bone, I picked one up and it fell off and back on to the plate be careful! Taste was great would recommend a little more sauce or some home made BBQ I know they will probably offer in the future. Pizza was nice didn't make me feel logged down like some other places. Nice light and made it easy to enjoy with a beer.

Beer great selection on tap and bottled. Would like to see a sour on tap just my personal preference but would be nice. Happy to have a selection in bottles.
On tap some great local flavor! They also have some great craft beer!
For the wine drinkers some great offering from Sonoma county and other Californian selections!

I can't say enough good things about this place. Come down check it out they are bringing another Gem to Santa Rosa.
