Benchwarmers

I was hesitant on checking this place out based on the past reviews. I happen to be staying in the area for work for a few months and wanted to find a local place to shoot some pool and sing karaoke. There doesn't seem to be many!  One of my room mates happened to stop by here for lunch and watch the ncaab game a couple days ago. His report was what encouraged me to check it out for myself. He personally had a great burger, had a great waitress and informed me of the selection of available pool tables. I stopped there for dinner tonight and experienced the same overall atmosphere as he did. I went back later on to shoot some pool and have a couple drinks. Both times today made me feel extremely welcome and the food was better than average. I also found out they host karaoke on Friday nights from 9-?.  The drinks are a little over-priced but I will continue to visit this place while I am in the area based on my experiences!  Highly recommended to anyone!!

Wanted to like this place, just can't. Went to watch a football game there Sunday. Bartenders had the attitude that I should be "honored" that they paid attention to me for my order. One was rude to my wife when she asked politely if they could put the sound on the Giants game, the bartender shot back " I doubt that will happen". when the other patrons at the bar that heard that started to voice their disapproval she told the owner who came over half cocked and basically told the other patrons who were complaining to "be nice" of get out. When I told him the side of the story his bartender didn't he did try to back off a little. I didn't have any confidence that my night was going to go any better there. We paid our tab and will let the beautiful staff of benchwarmer admire themselves in their own mirrors.

Used to go with friends here once a week, every week, for about 2 years. After that much repetition it was time for a break. Recently went back and ordered a burger that was actually pretty darn good. They have always had a nice selection of bottled beers, both imported and domestic.

Looking over some of the other reviews, I get where some people might be coming from about the service. We always had a great server, but I think part of that was from being regulars. And for a while it seemed like they were going through a "trainee of the week" program.

I think it's a step above basic bar food, and they make sure the snacks you want when you're drinking are part of the late night menu.
