Wine Depot is College Station's #1 Thursday night. Â (Not sure why the name just says "Benjamin Knox" as that's a person, and when I first reviewed this I entered the correct name but Yelp edited it and has made it confusing).... Â
Anyway, Wine Depot is located in the Benjamin Knox Art Gallery. Â It's an an awesome new location to be able to enjoy the cuisine of Chef Tai with the Chef Tai's Mobile Bistro truck parked here every Thursday night. Â Wine, live music and ample seating to go along with your top food truck score. Â Love it.
The Wine Depot is a great place for an espresso or a glass of wine. I have been to this bar several times and have always had excellent service and excellent wine. It's a great atmosphere especially on Thursdays (live music and great street food). It is definitely a place you have to check out when in the Bryan/College Station area!
Review Source:All the times I've been here have been on business retreateats - typically we are in a reserved room in the back and it has always been in the afternoon. And no, we don't partake of the wind until done - so at the end of the retreat we have a mini-social. So I can't comment on what it is like to come here in the evening and enjoy some wine on the terrace, but I've been impressed with the quality of the food and wind they've made available for us. Their AV equipment has performed will for our retreat presentations and it is a nice quiet place outside the office for us to meet and discuss various issues and changes our department is tackling. Have to find a way to come back some time just to enjoy and relax!
Review Source:My husband and I went here a couple weekends ago after leaving the Texas Reds festival incredibly disappointed. This place completely redeemed our night!
They don't have the largest wine selection, and they don't offer many wine flights (I think there was only 1 "red" flight and 1 "white" flight), but the glass & bottle prices are *incredibly* low! We ended up getting 2 bottles of wine and a cheese plate, which was delicious too! We also enjoyed live music on the deck while sipping our wine and snacking on our cheese. We'll definitely be coming back to this place - great wine, great food, and great atmosphere!
Where do the cool kids go on a Thursday night? Here...well, this one place, When you are the first person to discover a new place, and you patronize it heavily, and watch it grow and succeed, it makes you feel just plain good. I would never have known about this place without knowing its owners, Ben and Melissa Knox, and having a long conversation about their plans for the old underwhelming Terazzo.
So, yours truly put the word out, and nearly a year later, look at things: great live music, a fabulous setting, Chef Tai's food trucks (the only ones one left in BCS, but hey, fantastic regardless), and a wine portfolio that keeps expanding and changing. The prices both by the glass and bottle remain ridiculously low, and stuff you won't find elsewhere. As I do almost every Thursday, went last night with friends...what a great time. The country-folk singer was great, the crowd was great--young professionals, a few with kids, zero obese people stuffing themselves with deep fried slop and drunkenly tossing cheap beer in plastic cups around. No screaming children running around..just a nice, convivial atomosphere, with great weather rolling in!
Had Chef Tai's chicken lyonaisse special...arguably the best and the only decent fried chicken in town. Shared one of their cheese plates among us, which I have to say with some surprise puts the ones at both Veritas and Republic to shame.
So, if you are looking for someplace a little classy to begin winding down the week, look here. You'll see me here every Thursday.
