If I was allowed to give zero stars I would. People do not go to this place. This was my experience lastnight at Bennigans.
We were seated by the manager/host Our table had no silverware or napkins to start but figured they would come with the server or after we ordered. Our server was extremely inattentive. It took her 20 mins to bring us drinks (My table only had 1 refill, which we had to ask for) In the hour and a half we were there she only came to our table 2 times. Once to order and drop drinks, once to drop the check while she was giving us our 1st and only refill. She had another server drop off our food, which tasted and looked like it was sitting under the heating lamps for at least 30 mins. During mid service the manager/host was passing by and we pulled him aside and vented to him about our frustrations with the lack of attention. All he did was bring us silverware and napkins. My brother asked our server for some BBQ sauce for his chicken tenders which took her 15 mins to bring out. Our table had 5 people, 3 different checks as we asked for separate checks. None of us finished our food, I showed the manager/host the what our food looked like and he noticed none of us ate or even finished it. He asked me what he can do for me, I asked if at least my check could be refunded due to the lack of attention by our server and the poor quality of food. He declined because he said "I'm not a manager I do not have authority to do those things" Which brings me to another question. I understand the GM and Assistant can't be there all the time however, why not leave someone in charge that can handle poor customer situations and compensate them appropriately? All he did was give me his card, and said when you come back i'll make it up to you. I asked him for the GM's card as well. My experience last night was horrid and It made me and my table feel that, nobody cared from the server right up to the person "in charge". Last night was supposed to be special for me since I was notified yesterday that I received a promotion I applied for at my job. However, the experience totally took away from the celebration. Last night was anything but celebratory. One of people sitting at our table even asked our server if she was having a bad night. All she said was "yes I am" and walked away. No apology from either the server or the "manager", Between all 3 checks last night was 60 bucks at least poured right down the drain. My friends and I felt like we wasted our time even going this place. Do yourself a favor. Don't make this mistake I made!!!
After the rash of Bennigan's closures a few years back, it seemed like this family chain was going to soon be gone. However, there are still a few sites, like this one out in the middle of pretty much nowhere. We figured we'd have a meal here before Bennigan's is completely gone.
As soon as we sat down at Bennigan's, a large basket of chips and French onion dip was plopped down in front of us. They were so good, we couldn't stop gorging on them! I think the chips are made on premises, they're so fresh. And that dip! Was just what I needed. Salty, oniony, creamy--like French onion soup on top of a chip. I would have taken some home, but we ate them all!
The ribs were standard chain fare, on par with ribs you'd find at Chili's or Tony Roma's. A little extra meaty, a bit lean, but still fall-off-the-bone tender. The sauce wasn't anything too memorable, your typical barbecue sauce with a bit of sweetness.
Entrees usually come with two sides, and they're pretty good with substitutions, so don't think that the sides written on the menu are the ones you HAVE to get. Portion sizes are huge; most tables around us had to-go boxes. They've got a full bar with a few wines, standard beers, and a great alcohol selection... but would you really do shots at Bennigan's?
The absolute only thing that saves this from a two star is the friendly and helpful impression the hostess (Tina I believe?) gave and the good service we received in the bar. I really wish I could remember her name because she was sweet. Petite african american bartender with long hair on the afternoon of Monday 1/2/12. Â Our food, for what it is, was good. Served promptly, correctly, and hot. The cook was not only visible helping serve food in the bar area but he also stopped by our table and asked how everything was during our visit.
I have been here before but it has been quite some time. We just stopped here for a drink in the bar late in the afternoon on our way to another restaurant. The red wine was in huge glasses, a very generous pour. The bartender was very nice. Manager was in the area checking in on people and the cook was delivering food to guys watching the game. I am not sure why but we decided to just eat here. We didn't want to eat in the bar so we went to the hostess stand. The restaurant had very few people in it. Our server was great. However, there is an issue that I have noticed in all my past visits and it, yet again, makes me not want to visit. There were quite a few employees around with seemingly nothing to do yet there were broken crayons, straw wrappers, and other bits of things on the floor near the table next to us. The entire top of our table was tacky, had stains, and sauce spills that were pretty visible. I saw the hostess cleaning nearby so I asked her to give me some cleaner so I could wipe the table down. I was not going to eat like that it was grossing me out. There is a beverage station nearby and there had to be at least 4 servers just standing there most of the time we ate. One never even moved and all she did was complain. I heard the F word. I heard complaints about her job. I heard complaints about low tips and the little amount she made that day. I heard complaints about the manager. We were also treated to a young girl running across the dining area with some sort of trailing receipt in her hand as she flipped out with her friends about some sort of unsatisfactory conversation she just had with management. She used a raised voice and pitched a fit right there in front of us as we ate.
I don't care where you go. If it is the McDonald's or the Four Seasons............employees shouldn't be standing around using the F word or complaining about their job in clear earshot of customers. And, while I appreciate the management presence and the hard work/service of some of the employees.............management needs to recognize that this entire place needs to be wiped down with a disinfectant and a hot rag. Things need to be picked up off the floor especially in down time when the restaurant is slow. If the surfaces the patrons eat off of are not sanitary I am concerned about the overrall cleanliness of the place.
The cleanliness aspect I have experienced in the past several times and I am not sure what the disconnect is. Â It is a real shame the hard work of some of the employees is negated by some bad apples.
