If I was allowed to give zero stars I would. People do not go to this place. This was my experience lastnight at Bennigans.
We were seated by the manager/host Our table had no silverware or napkins to start but figured they would come with the server or after we ordered. Our server was extremely inattentive. It took her 20 mins to bring us drinks (My table only had 1 refill, which we had to ask for) In the hour and a half we were there she only came to our table 2 times. Once to order and drop drinks, once to drop the check while she was giving us our 1st and only refill. She had another server drop off our food, which tasted and looked like it was sitting under the heating lamps for at least 30 mins. During mid service the manager/host was passing by and we pulled him aside and vented to him about our frustrations with the lack of attention. All he did was bring us silverware and napkins. My brother asked our server for some BBQ sauce for his chicken tenders which took her 15 mins to bring out. Our table had 5 people, 3 different checks as we asked for separate checks. None of us finished our food, I showed the manager/host the what our food looked like and he noticed none of us ate or even finished it. He asked me what he can do for me, I asked if at least my check could be refunded due to the lack of attention by our server and the poor quality of food. He declined because he said "I'm not a manager I do not have authority to do those things" Which brings me to another question. I understand the GM and Assistant can't be there all the time however, why not leave someone in charge that can handle poor customer situations and compensate them appropriately? All he did was give me his card, and said when you come back i'll make it up to you. I asked him for the GM's card as well. My experience last night was horrid and It made me and my table feel that, nobody cared from the server right up to the person "in charge". Last night was supposed to be special for me since I was notified yesterday that I received a promotion I applied for at my job. However, the experience totally took away from the celebration. Last night was anything but celebratory. One of people sitting at our table even asked our server if she was having a bad night. All she said was "yes I am" and walked away. No apology from either the server or the "manager", Between all 3 checks last night was 60 bucks at least poured right down the drain. My friends and I felt like we wasted our time even going this place. Do yourself a favor. Don't make this mistake I made!!!
After the rash of Bennigan's closures a few years back, it seemed like this family chain was going to soon be gone. However, there are still a few sites, like this one out in the middle of pretty much nowhere. We figured we'd have a meal here before Bennigan's is completely gone.
As soon as we sat down at Bennigan's, a large basket of chips and French onion dip was plopped down in front of us. They were so good, we couldn't stop gorging on them! I think the chips are made on premises, they're so fresh. And that dip! Was just what I needed. Salty, oniony, creamy--like French onion soup on top of a chip. I would have taken some home, but we ate them all!
The ribs were standard chain fare, on par with ribs you'd find at Chili's or Tony Roma's. A little extra meaty, a bit lean, but still fall-off-the-bone tender. The sauce wasn't anything too memorable, your typical barbecue sauce with a bit of sweetness.
Entrees usually come with two sides, and they're pretty good with substitutions, so don't think that the sides written on the menu are the ones you HAVE to get. Portion sizes are huge; most tables around us had to-go boxes. They've got a full bar with a few wines, standard beers, and a great alcohol selection... but would you really do shots at Bennigan's?
The absolute only thing that saves this from a two star is the friendly and helpful impression the hostess (Tina I believe?) gave and the good service we received in the bar. I really wish I could remember her name because she was sweet. Petite african american bartender with long hair on the afternoon of Monday 1/2/12. Â Our food, for what it is, was good. Served promptly, correctly, and hot. The cook was not only visible helping serve food in the bar area but he also stopped by our table and asked how everything was during our visit.
I have been here before but it has been quite some time. We just stopped here for a drink in the bar late in the afternoon on our way to another restaurant. The red wine was in huge glasses, a very generous pour. The bartender was very nice. Manager was in the area checking in on people and the cook was delivering food to guys watching the game. I am not sure why but we decided to just eat here. We didn't want to eat in the bar so we went to the hostess stand. The restaurant had very few people in it. Our server was great. However, there is an issue that I have noticed in all my past visits and it, yet again, makes me not want to visit. There were quite a few employees around with seemingly nothing to do yet there were broken crayons, straw wrappers, and other bits of things on the floor near the table next to us. The entire top of our table was tacky, had stains, and sauce spills that were pretty visible. I saw the hostess cleaning nearby so I asked her to give me some cleaner so I could wipe the table down. I was not going to eat like that it was grossing me out. There is a beverage station nearby and there had to be at least 4 servers just standing there most of the time we ate. One never even moved and all she did was complain. I heard the F word. I heard complaints about her job. I heard complaints about low tips and the little amount she made that day. I heard complaints about the manager. We were also treated to a young girl running across the dining area with some sort of trailing receipt in her hand as she flipped out with her friends about some sort of unsatisfactory conversation she just had with management. She used a raised voice and pitched a fit right there in front of us as we ate.
I don't care where you go. If it is the McDonald's or the Four Seasons............employees shouldn't be standing around using the F word or complaining about their job in clear earshot of customers. And, while I appreciate the management presence and the hard work/service of some of the employees.............management needs to recognize that this entire place needs to be wiped down with a disinfectant and a hot rag. Things need to be picked up off the floor especially in down time when the restaurant is slow. If the surfaces the patrons eat off of are not sanitary I am concerned about the overrall cleanliness of the place.
The cleanliness aspect I have experienced in the past several times and I am not sure what the disconnect is. Â It is a real shame the hard work of some of the employees is negated by some bad apples.
I came here for an after-party after a wedding last Saturday. Â The bar area was clean and bartenders were great. Â I ordered the appetizer sampler, with pretty low expectations and wasn't surprised that it was not that great. Â
I don't know who the DJ was last week, but he should be fired. Â Plays the absolute worst music and was rude when I requested two songs that seemed to be in his genre. Â His response - "no, I'm probably not going to play that." Awesome!
Have been to Bennigan's several times in the past few months for drinks and apps. Â After several meals here, I've decided that although the food is tasty, the price tag and small portion size of entrees makes it not a no-go for dinner. Â But appetizers are very tasty and portion size is good. Â Drinks are generally pretty good and the bartenders and servers in the pub are attentive. Â My only complaint is that the DJ in the bar on the weekends is WAAAAAAAAY too loud. Â But I just LOVE those Southwest Eggrolls! Â And I get a kick out of the female bartender who tries to flirt with me. ;-p
Review Source:Once upon a time I was a fan of Bennigan's and Houllihan's and other places like this. The atmosphere was fun and there was a lot of merriment. That seems to have changed over the years.
This location opened a couple years ago as part of the area's growth. We dined here with my in-laws. We had a decent meal, but nothing special. We have re-visited a couple times since. Each time the experience seems to slip.
We gave it Bennigan's another attempt last evening. It may be our last.
My son and I were seated at a table that was not clean. It took a few minutes, but eventually someone came and pushed the crumbs onto the floor. The table was seated right by the kitchen, so we had plenty of foot traffic throughout the meal. That included a dishwasher who mopped the floor with smelly water. And the mopping continued most of the meal. What we didn't understand is that the guy kept mopping near us. He would mop down away and then come back. He did this multiple times. Lovely.
Our waitress, Ikeirra, was very pleasant and upbeat. She served us our drinks right away. Then there was a wait for food. Gert had ordered fried mushrooms as an appetizer. They didn't come. After a bit our dinner was served, but no mushrooms. I suspect Ikeirra forgot to order them. She rushed the order and when they were served, a lot of grease was added to the basket. Splendid!
Gert and I both ordered the French Dip. Eh . . . There was certainly nothing memorable about the sandwich. The au jus, otoh, was incredibly salty. I am sure they use a package and this thing was nearly inedible. It is not recommended.
The children had mac-and-cheese and a grilled cheese. Both were adequate.
The mushrooms, in addition to be greasy, were not particularly tasty. Stems were left on the 'shrooms, the batter greasy, and other than looking good, did nothing for us.
So, two out of the four items ordered were not good and the cleanliness of the restaurant was less than appealing. It will take a while, a long while, for me to want to return.
The Bennigan's chain might be dead, but this former local franchise soldiers on with the old ethos and menu intact. If you've been to a Bennigan's and like it, you'll feel comfortable here.
Let's face it, the Vineland area has little to offer in the way of nightlife. This place fills some of that void. It's very popular with many of the movers and shakers of the city. You'll probably run into everybody from the Mayor on down. It might come in handy as a networking tool if you are the ambitious type.
If you have a little too much fun-in-a-bottle, there a plenty of nice hotels within staggering distance.
Well I gave it 4 stars because there is nothing to do in Vineland. Â If you're from out of town, go here. Â Food portions are small as Joy stated in a previous review, so just order more. Â It's a chain place, so it is pretty much what you'd expect. Â It is surrounded by hotels, so you get a pretty diverse crowd. Â Great place to just stop in, get some bar food, watch a game, and meet some people if you're from out of town. Â Waitstaff provides excellent service as well
Review Source:Bennigans is what you'd expect from your average food chain restaurant type deal. The food is tasty and you can usually get a yummy mixed drink that's all fruity and alcohol-y. If you're looking for a perfectly cooked steak, go elsewhere. Don't get me wrong, the steaks are fine, but, for example: I always order my steaks medium, I've had a range of well done, all the way down to bleeding and kicking on my plate come back. So, leave the steaks for a steak place.
The service ranges anywhere from excellent, to barely wanting to leave a tip. It all depends on what waiter/waitress you end up with.
Great food, good service, typical Bennigan's young and hip crowd. Â It gets a lot of out of towners traveling to the area due to the two Big Hotels there Ramada and Wingate. Â Drink specials are very reasonable during happy hour and the setting on a Friday or Saturday night is usually crowded.
