My fiance loves their boneless wings. They're about 3 inches long in size, and does not have too much batter on it. I love their regular, bone-in wings and we both enjoy their crab pretzels. They have a special after 9pm for their boneless wings. The only other thing I had from there was when they had free tacos. It wasn't good -but it was free, so can't complain.
Review Source:For a good Monday night football experience, it's not a bad gig to head over to Bill Bateman's Bistro for a TV and all-you-can-eat wings. Buy the buffet for $10 and a mandatory soft drink for $2.50 and you'll be able to sit back, stuff your face, and enjoy the show.
I'm not a big fan of Old Bay (Weird right? You're in Baltimore and you don't like Old Bay?). However, I'm a big fan of Bill Bateman's Old Bay wings. That speaks volumes. I also like the Lemon Pepper wings. The Asian wings taste like General Tso's chicken. For anyone (not me) who likes that, you're in for a treat. I wouldn't recommend getting anything other than wings here. The half rack of ribs weren't that good.
Anyways, the Glen Burnie location seems pretty lonely and isn't really busy. As such, the wings come out pretty fast when you order them and service is definitely attentive.
Whenever I go to Billy Batesman's I would go on Monday, since that is when they have their $10 All-You-Can-Eat wing special. Â For $13 dollars (it is required to buy a $2.50 beverage in order to get the wings deal), you can get around 20 different flavor on your wings, and the best part is you can get different flavors per order. Â They would bring out 10 wings for the first order and then 5 wings thereafter. Â So if you get 105 wings, you can try all 20 FLAVORS!!!!!!(jk, you don't want to eat 105 wings, you will be in the toilet the whole night) Â Unlike most all-you-can-eat wings places, their wing's quality was not that bad. Â They were crispy, but not overly crispy, and more importantly, they were very meaty. Â Their Old Bay wings were one of my favorites, since they don't "over powder" their wings with Old Bay. Â But all the other wings were decent. Â If you are looking for a kick, the atomic wings are the ones you should get. Â Just don't get the Honey Mustard wings, they tasted weird.
Review Source:I was excited about ordering this meal... It doesn't last long. Paid over $50.00 for two 8 oz sirloins with 2 sides. Although the steak was cooked how I asked, it had no seasoning or flavor whatsoever. The mashed potatoes had a weird non fresh, ...almost fishy flavor. The veggies are green beans and carrots, again with no seasoning whatsoever. You can't even it mix it all
Together to get a decent flavor. Really disappointing. I won't order from here again.
I had a great experience. No wait for a table. Friendly waitress. Excellent choice of draught beers. The Chesapeake quesadilla appetizer was amazing! Food arrived quickly and it was hot and delicious. I love the menu; there are a lot of great Chesapeake themed entrees and sandwiches. And its a warm and welcome sprtsbar feel. It wasn't even noisy (Thursday night). The best part was it was a good deal.
Review Source:Server almost forgot us seating in the booth near the kitchen, when the manager passed by, I asked, where has our server been? Finally, we got our water and ordered a crab potato skin appetizer which was okay, but when my cream of crab soup arrived, our conversation was about the soup. We described it as too creamy and not considered a soup so I asked for a cup of warm water and a bigger bowl so I can stir/blend it. It was still thick and not really appetising to eat. It, The server would be smart if she had asked me if I wanted something else since I did not like as it is but shed did not score an orange or purple team point on that. My partner ordered a crab burger which I thought the crab was mixed with the burger. Crab burger really is a regular burger that comes with a crab cream filing. That was disappointing. I continued to try my best to like the crab quesadilla but after all the food that arrived, I was feeling sick. The only thing I can say that is good deal eating at Bill Bateman is their special. If I come back, I will try their special of the day; because it will be a deal, and it would not hopefully be a waste money if I don't like them. It would be though a real awakening lesson learned.
Review Source:Not a lot to choose from in general in glen burnie so this is an ok choice. Service is inconsistent to say the least but the food is decent. We like the the buffalo chicken wrap and salad but their wings are good too. They also have an pretty good happy hour. The bar seating is spacious and there are a decent amount of tv's for sport fans. Not bad for the burnie.
Review Source:I went in for lunch at 2:00 on a Wednesday for their crabcake special. The kitchen was crazy slow even though there were hardly any customers there. My order took 30 minutes to come out, and I know this because I checked in on Yelp when I first arrived. The crabcake was very wet with hardly any lump crabmeat. The fries were good, but the kitchen took way too long for lunchtime. Maybe I wouldn't care as much if I was there for dinner and was having a beer and socializing, but not for lunch. Plus, the crabcake just wasn't that great.
Review Source:Horrible service here. Â Sat and waited for over ten minutes and never were approached by a waiter or waitress even though several of them walked by. Â What's really sad is that this it's the second time this has happened to at this location.
We're regulars at the Bateman's in Severna Park and are quite happy with the food and service there. Â $2 draft beers including imports on Wednesday and $10 crab cake dinners can't be beat.
My gf and I recently ate here on a Wednesday night for their crabcake special.  For $10, you got a crabcake, fries and cole slaw.  Can't beat that, right?  I'm super picky about crabcakes, but went in with an open mind.  Man, was that a GOOD crabcake!  Filled with HUGE lumps of crab and very little filler.  The fries were good but I could have done without the tiny serving of dry coleslaw. My gf  laughed about the puny size but hers was more liquidy than mine-perhaps they needed to stir it up before serving.
We splurged a little and ordered the crab dip potato skins. Â They were pretty good, as well. Â
A big negative for us was when my gf asked for a side of Old Bay and the waiter said "no" and copped an attitude. Â What? Why? Â He then said it'd cost between $.50 and $1.00 EXTRA for a little cup of Old Bay. Â Spices. Â Wow. I got a side of mayo with no problem. Â I know things cost money, but come on.
Our waiter was a 20-ish year old guy who was ok. Â Everyone sitting around us also got the special and he tended to linger and the table next to us, holding up our drink refills a little.
If you don't go for the crabcake special, they have other specials other nights of the week. Â They have a HUGE menu to choose from, which I have ordered from in the past. Â The rest of their food is okay, nothing to write home about. Â Stick with the crabcakes and you'll be good to go!
Ehhh. My husband and I used to go here and order carryout a lot. Over the past year or so, this place has declined. The wings are nothing special (scrawny and dry). They have messed up our takeout order numerous times. The last couple times we have dined in have been less than noteworthy from both a service and a dining perspective. Â For instance, my husband and I ordered the same steak dinner, both cooked medium rare. Â We got two different sized meats (one very thin and the other of a medium size) and his was well done (perhaps because it was such a scrawny cut). The Severna Park location is much better.
Playing devil's advocate, I will add that the crab pretzel is delish.
I hate to give this place 2 stars because we come here quite often, but I have to. Â I always beg and pleed with my hubby not to go here and to go to outback instead.
Ive eaten quite a few things on the menu trying to find something I can tolerate eating. Â So far the best thing they make is the large crabby pretzel... don't get the medium because it's a different kind of pretzel (at least that's the way it tastes to me) Â My hubby likes their wings and always has to ask for them extra crispy to have them done the right way. Â
I got some mixed drinks there before and they are over priced and weak. Â
One plus is that they have a free taco bar on fridays and well... it's free so you can assume what you would like about that.
The reason they made it onto my happy hour list is because they do have the free taco bar on fridays and they have beer specials for happy hour which I usually enjoy. Â Just don't get the mixed drinks. Â Batemans is always a good time when you have the right group of people.
We went here instead of Severna Park because it was closer to home. Â Never again. Â Arrived at 7pm, and sat on the bar side, as the restaurant side was empty. Â Bar side tables were less than half full. Â Waited five minutes for our waitress to take our drink order, and then only got menus after the drinks were served. Â It took another 45 minutes before we got our food. Â Sunday is half price burger night, you would think that three burger orders would be served faster. Â Ketchup, A1, mustard and malt vinegar bottles were all nearly empty, and as I was leaving I found a dirty spoon under the table.
Food was average at best. Â Fries were hot, brisket sandwich ( another daily special ) was dry and tasteless.
Honestly, I've only had a few things on Bill Bateman's menu. The wings are good if you order there, but if you order carry out they obviously give you "seconds", which I didn't even know happened at restaurants. It's like you are eating from a totally different place, as wings there are large, juicy, fried just right, and glazed with sauce. Order carry out and you'll get skimpy little wings with barely visible sauce, if they even remember to put wing sauce on buffalo wings, which they've "forgotten" twice when I ordered. Â
The dining room in this place has been empty every single time I've been, possibly because of the HORRENDOUS attitudes of the waitstaff. If you want good service sit at the bar and order a drink and your food right away. The bartenders are friendly, ask your names and remember them, and actually seem to make an effort.
I go back because it's close, the specials on drinks are decent, and they have a GREAT "Crab Burger", and a flatbread appetizer that is suprisingly delicious.  They're all I order now. So go for drinks, burger, and maybe a sundae on a giant chocolate chip cookie for dessert.
3.5 stars. Came here because I had a crazy buffalo wing craving. Total local bar, neighborhood joint type of place. Love it! The digital jukebox was playing Top 40 hits and the multiple flat screens around the bar had on several types of games. It was kind of dead, but I'm sure when it's busy it's a lot of fun in there.
We ordered the fries for an appetizer and they came with Old Bay seasoning with a delish cheese sauce. I got two types of wings- Teriyaki and Buffalo Garlic. The flavors were good but some of the wings were a little scrawny and overcooked. Probably frozen. Wish the wings tasted a little fresher because the sauce was on point, but I could have had a bad batch. My daughter got the lobster mac & cheese and we all died for it. The best mac & cheese I've had in a loooong time (besides my own lol). My son's cheeseburger was so moist and juicy, my daughter and I decided to split one. Ours wasn't as good but still very tasty with mushrooms and American cheese. Our server was a little absent-minded. He gave us the wrong check and wasn't very animated. But he was nice enough and checked on us a few times.
Overall, I would totally choose BB over a Friday's or Applebee's for a fun, casual dining experience with fam & friends. I saw several menu items that I'd like to try out when I go again.
Can you believe there was an one-hour wait for the Outback Steakhouse tonight? Who knew? Did you also know they take reservations (well, 'call-ahead-seating')? Who knew? Well, if you know me, I'm not the one to stick around for an hour just to eat mediocre food so I got back in the car and swung around the corner to find Bill Bateman's Bistro (II).
I've never been to one of the chains let alone heard about it but after being on my feet for 9 hours I really needed to sit down and eat. At first glance, the restaurant seemed ok. More like Friday's without all the crazy colors. The place is divided into two sections, bar and dining. My BF and I chose the dining section and was seated promptly. I don't know if it is this particular location thing or Ravens has a game I don't know about but all the servers were donned Ravens jersey. Being a Redskins girl myself... well, let me not go there.
The food:
Crab Dip - potato skins stuffed with crab dip with old bay seasoning on top. Didn't taste much of the crab.
Chicken wings - it is stated that they are "famous" for their wings... they have 16 diff flavor. They will not mix flavor for one order (not that we asked but it is clearly stated on their menu so I thought I should note that). My BF had "Wings from Hell" and my eyes actually watered (from the spice) when the waiter passed the plate in front of my face.
Baby back ribs - I had 1/2 rack and I was not satisfied with the portion. The sauce seemed too ketchupy for my taste. The dish came with fries and small (I mean small) side of cole slaw.
Total bill came out to be $40.50ish. I think they are couple of bucks too overpriced for this mediocre restaurant.
I would only recommend this place to those who are stuck in the Burnie area who is willing to eat mediocre food so that their stomach don't growl so much.
