I am not much into chain BBQ joints, but have found several to be the exception. I have to confess, I am also a Rib Crib fan.
I stopped in for a quick bite so just had the pulled pork sandwich and slaw. The sandwich was tasty, moist, and had a good smoke flavor. The sauce was tasty, but would have like one with a little more spice.
Will go back for the ultimate test. The Ribs.
We were wowed by this place. It was our first time, so we all ordered various entrees and sampled each other's. So full of flavor! The pulled pork was absolutely to die for! Ribs, brisket were also great and we enjoyed the sides, too. Very fairly priced.
There's not much here when it comes to atmosphere, but who cares? It's BBQ!
Highly recommended!
Oh Billy you warm my sauce laden heart. I can't really comment on the service as I went through drive through on a late night after work but the things I can comment on are wonderful. The ribs are succulent with a sweet smokey flavor. The sliced brisket is tender and moist with a beautiful smoke ring that looks like a little slice of heaven. The hot style sauce is awesome. Just the right amount of heat and tang. 2 things that really surprised me was the use of red cabbage in the coleslaw, it is a nice change. The other is the smoked corn, who knew I liked smoked corn....did you? Cause I didn't , and holy cow I know I do now. Overall I really liked this place and after I am done on my tour of Springfield and surrounding areas barbecue places I will be back. This is definitely one of the best Oklahoma style joints I have had.
Review Source:If you want your BBQ fix, go ahead; if you're serious about BBQ, f*** this place. I like the whole idea of get in, get out line service, but the freshness of the food is questionable. Seeing as how they rubber bin every item in this joint, I get a little flustered at the questioning of "when did you cook this?"
Very little is done the meat. I DO think there is merit in cooking it over a wood fire without seasoning, but if your BBQ sauce is bland, YOU NEED TO SEASON YOUR MEAT! The sauce isn't worth it. You only have a choice of "sweet" and "hot" and neither aren't worth eating. I want regular, dammit! Sweet is women and children and hot is for meat with flavor! Regular is for everything else! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE HOT, but this sauce wasn't very spicy. I think there were a few peppercorns in there, but nothing worth noting in spiciness.
I paid about ten dollars for three meats and two sides. Not bad. It is a little cheaper than other places, but I can see why. The sides weren't beholding. I'm confident that the potato salad was bought at Wal-Mart and the cole-slaw was made two days earlier.
Hell, the ribs were stupid. I got all of the meat off the bone, which was great, but I also hesitated in swallowing because it had the stupid sauce on it and no flavor in the meat.
I won't be going back unless I'm drunk and don't care.
I wasn't terribly impressed with this place. Â I went in with high hopes, mostly based on the other review on yelp and the newness of it. Â I decided to try it all, and got a sampler platter of ribs, chicken, sliced brisket, and pulled pork. Â I am a rib lover, so I was really hopeful of those. Â They had a really excellent flavor, but it was so HARD to get them off the bone, it wasn't even worth it! Â I made a mess trying to rip all the meat off. Â No complaints on the other meat, just wasn't THE BEST thing I have ever had.
I tried the corn and baked beans and texas toast along with it. Â The corn was OKAY, once again, not too much better than I could make at home. Â My friend wanted to try it as well, but had to pay for it a la carte - it was TWO DOLLARS! Â It is not a full cob, either, it is a mini cob, so about half a cob. Â Texas toast was "meh" - just a regular old piece. Â The baked beans were pretty exceptional though, I really enjoyed them.
On a non-food related note - their BBQ sauce. Â Apparently mine wasn't strained well enough, because some sort of seed got stuck in the nozzle, and squeezing it onto my plate actually made it explode on me :(
Overall, I will probably try it again once it has been in place a while and everything has been tweaked. Â If it isn't better than the last time, I will probably stick to our other BBQ places.
These guys opened up right down the street, and I unexpectedly wasn't able to cook tonight, so I figured I try them and be about as "impressed" as I am with most BBQ places that move in old fast food places. Wow was I wrong!
The prices were very reasonable. I like BBQ combos, and they had a huge one priced low. Had the beef brisket/ pulled  pork/ hot link/ rib combo w/ cole slaw and corn. All of the meats were done perfectly, great smoked BBQ taste. The hot link wasn't the best - I like very spicy! - but the ribs were really really good, and so was the beef and pork.
The sauce isn't bad - not the best I've ever had, but far better than most of these places.
The cole slaw was OK. Â Corn was fantastic, wish I could cook it like that.
Overall, I was very happy, the quality of the meats/smoking was great, and certainly happy with the price. There's only two BBQ places in town I like enough to go back to - counting this one!
