Excellent! Great breakfast. My only beef is we paid for some monk brewed coffee that was not so good. It's kind of hyped in the restaurant as the coffee to get and is more expensive than standard. i thought it was watery. however the rest of the food and the service was impeccable. great experience.

We recently vistted this sleepy little town to celebrate a birthday.  On Sunday morning we went to the Black Bear Cafe for breakfast.  Upon entering the restaraunt, we were told to seat ourselves which we promptyly did as there were a few empty tables and booths.  It took 10-15 minutes for our server to come and greet us and take our drink order.  "Greeting" is a little bit strong of a description, as he just wandered over and ask for our drinks without so much of a hello.  The food was very good and the prices were very reasonable.  If it had not been for our server, I would have given this place a higher rating.  It is typical cafe food but it is done well.  It's a shame that they've got such poor service.  While we hugrily waited, we watched the staff busy themselves with cleaining tables for a crowd that didn't exist, while ignoring diners (us) who were about to get up and leave...profit never realized.  We unfortuanately had to be more direct with our server in order to get very basic service, which we don't like doing.  Enjoy the food but don't expect much in the way of even basic service.

    1. Delightful service- fast and friendly.
    2. Good coffee.
    3. Standard breakfast café fare done right. Not expensive at all.  You would think most places couldn't screw up eggs, toast, bacon, et cetera.  It happens. A lot. At expensive, hipster places.

Not the case here. This place is non-pretentious and has good solid food. Go to black bear café.

Good local place for breakfast. Big menu, big pancakes, liked the blue poppa bear combos with fresh bilberry pancakes. If you're driving through Thermopolis, this is a great breakfast stop.

We scouted this place out on Yelp because we planned to stop in Thermopolis for lunch on the way back to Denver from Yellowstone. Yet again, Yelp doesn't lead you astray.

It was Sunday so we were worried they'd be closed, and from the corner driving by it looked like they were, but the main part of the restaurant is really on the side street. See the picture above for reference. They're open 7am to 3pm everyday. Serve breakfast all day (until they close at 3) and it's delicious breakfast food.

The portions are huge. I would highly recommend the biscuits & gravy and the huge cinnamon roll. The service was so friendly - small town charm! A great stop in Thermopolis.

YUM!  Didn't think I would find a good place to eat on Thermopolis  but I was surprised. Very good and large size meals, big selection and all home style!  If you come through, stop here.  Not hungry? Try the cinnamon roll!

Five stars in Thermop. Excellent breakfast (be prepared, they are Wyoming size meaning, hearty). We had wanted to try this place for dinner but I think they are only open for breakfast and lunch. Try the green and red chili. The red is veggie style, with actual vegetables in it. I preferred the green but both were good. The cinnamon rolls are giant and good to share. Good coffee. The lunch menu looked good, too. They have a fairly large menu for a small cafe. There were a variety of pies available. Friendly service. Bison appears to be local (as advertised at the table). We didn't try any, but perhaps a good place to order a bison burger (compared to say, Safari or Pumpernicks).
