I have been here many times and have never had any issues with service or food. I went again a few nights ago and it was great. The waitress was super friendly and helpful. Had the portabella chicken and margharita pizza and they were both delicious. Thursday nights the have $10 domestic pitchers.
Review Source:My friend and I had a Home Shoppers coupon for $25.00 to try the Black Bear Saloon.  Since we were shopping at the mall we decided to use it.  It was a Tuesday afternoon, the mall of exceptionally quiet and there were 6 customers in the restaurant when we arrived at approximately 1:15.  We were seated and asked for our drink order.  We asked for iced tea and coffee  We were told they had run out o iced tea and were waiting for the coffee delivery, maybe by the end of the day.  We should have walked out.  We placed our orders for appetizers which took 15 minutes to be served, another 15 minutes for our lunch, and yet another 10 minutes for desert.  We asked for the check with desert so we could leave, at this pint it was 3:00..  The waitress said her manager had to figure out the deduction because of the coupon, she would be right back.  When we finally did get the final bill  $4.00 had been added  for the non-existent coffee!!!  NEVER, EVER AGAIN!!!
Review Source:This was my second time here at Black Bear saloon. I wanted to go here for my birthday because the first time I went I had a great experience with the food. Apparently their menu was changed since I had been there. I viewed the menu the night before I went to Black Bear for my birthday and was happy about all the different choices, especially the bison burger. I had this burger the first time. Their menue was very different from online and I asked the waitress about it. I was told that their menu changed about a week ago. You would think they would update the menu online. There were no more bison burgers on the menu.  Well, to say something nice, the waitress and hostess were very pleasant. We were sat at a tale where one side was booth syle seating and the other side were two chairs. My boyfriend and I got their late, so the other two people we were with were already seated at this table. I don't really care for this type of seating, but I dealt with it. My boyfriend and I ordered the hot pretzel sticks. We only got three pretzel stix that were each about six inches. For two people for an appetizer, I would have thought that we would have gotten four. They came with cheese sauce and honey mustard sauce. They were hot and soft. There was so salt on them, which was good. However, the cheese sauce tasted processed and the honey mustard sauce how a weird color and taste to it. I thought I tasted a bit of mayonnaise. I ordered the blackened chicken wrap on wheat. It was waaay too spicy. Also the cheese that was supposed to be on it was on the bottom of the wrap and very litte at best. My friends ordered the nachos for an appetizer and they were disappointing. The nacho chips had a strange texture to me and didn't taste like nachos. Good portion size on the nachos though. I had their winning apple crisp for dessert. It was in a small bowl, so I don't think they give you enough for what you pay for. Also, there are no oats in this apple crisp. The topping was sweet, but the apples need more cinnamon. I was pleased that they were tender. The mixuture was not watery  either, it was almost a gooey consistency. It was descent, but I amke a better one.  It wasn't loud here for being a Wednesday night and there were tvs above the bar broadcasting sports. They don't have an extensive menu. Maybe they should get one.
Review Source:Unlike everyone else here, my visits to Black Bear have been painless, trouble-free, and quite acceptable. Â The service is always a little slow, and on occasion, the beer tastes like metal.
It doesn't stop me from continuing to drop my business card in the fishbowl to try to win a free meal.
Am I a fan? Â I suppose.
Horrible service! I went here with a few friends one night and it took them forever to seat us, get our drink orders, and appetizers. When we did get everything, many things were wrong and the employees were very unprofessional. A few of the female bartenders were paying more attention to their male co-workers than the customers. Our service was so bad we asked for a manager, which took about 20 minutes to come to our table. Our meals were given to us for free, even though all of the meals were awful, and the manager said that we could get free meal coupons next time we came there...which is never going to happen.
Review Source:JUST AN UPDATE....
NO I DID NOT GO BACK, and nor will I ever but I was contacted by someone requesting my information due to this review, claiming they were someone with Black Bear something along the lines of customer relations yadada..
They wanted to offer me a gift card in exchange for my name and address, and after I replied (nicely) that I will never go back to this place, not even for free food due to my experience , This person never responded and and soon after my response they deleted their profile. Â They joined this month, had no credibility on the site, and seemed very sketchy to me so just be on the look out in case you are contacted.
& If this was an actual person trying to right a wrong, you fail.
I was in Blackbear. Saloon, over the holiday shopping season. I went in for a late dinner on a Thursday night. Our waitress was a very attractive women, who was very attentive to our table. We ordered salads, and some awesome wings. One of our group had a great cheese burger. We really liked the beer tower thing also. as it got later, the place picked up, and a great dj started to play around 9. We stayed until later on, and had a great time.
Review Source:The one star is too much for this place.
We went to Black Bear on Tuesday night. It was very crowded so I thought that it was going to be a GREAT night of fun but nooo.
We stood at the bar waiting to be served for 20 min. I waved trying to get their attention, they would look and kept walking by. It wasn't cause they were busy either. They were talking to their friends and each other.
The only way to get ANY service is to sit at a table but all we wanted was a couple of beers/shots. We ended up leaving without having ONE drink. HORRIBLE!!!
We ended up at another bar and had a REALLY good time. We'll NEVER go to Black bear again.
We went to Black Bear in Milford because we had a coupon. This is not a place you go for an intimate meal or quiet conversation. It's definitely a saloon, with sports on TV and the focus being the bar. That being said, though, my husband and I really enjoyed the food. He had an avocado bacon burger, which was cooked to exactly the medium rare he specified - quite tasty. I had a steak and pasta special with (if I recall correctly) gorgonzola cheese. I loved my entree. The service was friendly and attentive. For an inexpensive restaurant in a mall, I thought they did a good job.
Review Source:This is not an update based on the food but I couldn't review the nightclub aspect of this place separately. The one star is solely based on the "after 10pm" happenings at Black Bear. It's terrible.
I had the unfortunate experience of visiting Black Bear on a Friday night to meet friends around 10:30. First off, this place is in the mall and we were told that we could not enter through the mall entrance for "security reasons". What about the people leaving the movie theater that wanted to grab a drink afterwards?? They would have to leave the mall and enter from the outside "Black Bear Entrance". Ridiculous. Second, this place by 11:30 was clearly packed beyond capacity and yet they were clearly jamming people in to collect the $5 cover from everyone that continued to fill a line outside the door. There is a small dance floor in the back which hosted "DJ" Verdict. HA! They charged cover for this "DJ" to play music that anyone could download off of iTunes and shout "YO BLACKBEAR...THE LINE IS ACROSS THE PARKING LOT" That's not a DJ, that's a joke.
I'm not one to write scathing reviews unless I'm totally perturbed... and this just totally did it for me.
