Maybe I just really don't like saloons? Maybe Blind Horse Saloon learns to regulate the temperature of the room? Maybe I never go back to Blind Horse Saloon unless I'm craving a honky tonk sauna experience?
Two friends and I recently went to a concert at Blind Horse Saloon. We had an idea of what Blind Horse was like, but not really. Â When the words "18 and up" are part of the scenario, you know you are in for a good night of watching leopard print booty shirts dance up on some guy who is passing through a bizarre South Carolina version of a "coming of age ritual" right before they both get kicked out for either puking in public or drinking without a wristband. Good times. Â
Getting into Blind Horse is kind of confusing. Â There are two lines and everyone's ticket has to get scanned. The scanning is also where you can pick up will call tickets. So its basically all the same line that everyone has to go through regardless of if you have your ticket or not. The main bar is cash only- I'm not sure about the bars on the sides of the rooms. I must add that I have never seen so many people icing themselves. Intentionally drinking a Smirnoff ice in public is a confusing thing for me and I'm still not sure if I really understand it.
The show was great and apparently dancing after is really fun but the room was SO HOT. Â The heat was literally causing me to experience a downward spiral into insanity. We all knew that we just had to get out of there. Â We called a cab and waited about 40 minutes for it to arrive. I would say 98% of the people here drove so cabs are not just swinging through. One plus is that they have boiled peanuts for sale outside!
Greenville seems to be a really hip bar town, but being from Texas, I was thirsty for a good ol' Honky Tonk. I mean, I am in the deep South... why not go for the cultural venues?
I had heard about the Blind Horse on the radio, and we took my friend for his 21st birthday. He really wanted to go to a country bar, so this was the perfect opportunity for all of us to check it out.
They pour lots of drinks, host live bands, and possess a great dance floor. This is an awesome dance hall and bar. Come check it out if you are looking for a rowdy time in Greenville. It is a bit out of the way, so that makes it even better! You pull up on dirt roads. Awesome. Cash only.
