Usually pretty good, but ordered a General's pizza and it had NO cheese whatsoever!! Â Took it to go so, did not find this out until we were home. If I am paying 30 dollars for a large pizza, I expect there to be ALOT of cheese. Also, they put the toppings on so high, when you pick it up, they all fall off. This would be no problem if there was cheese on it!! Â Also, thinking back, our previous pizzas had cheese on the bottom only...no! Â That is why cheese is there...to make everything stick together!! Â Crappy if you ask me...ever since they opened...it started out really good, hi and welcome to the neighborhood, now a bunch of slackers! Â Won't be going back unless it's to get my money back on this bad pizza!! Â Bleck!
Review Source:So, we have been here twice now. Food is always good!
First trip was to eat at the restaurant, other than the service at the order counter being slow, the service experience was fine. We ordered a regular salad and a caesar, both a good size for a single order. Ordered a General pizza, and a Pepperoni, all of us liked all the food.
Second time was to pick up a to go order. Service at the order counter was timely, but the girl at one of the registers was either nervous, or indifferent to being there. One of the pizzas was a half pepperoni, the other a General again. One complaint about the food this time however, half pepperoni was more like quarter pepperoni..didn't realize till I got home with the Za. Tastes much better fresh out of the oven of course, but still pretty good.
Pizza here is pricey compared to the cost of Pizza Guys to feed my family of 4, but then again, Pizza Guys is pricey compared to Little Caesar's, so it just depends what kind of quality you can afford that week!
My girlfriend and I go here about once every two weeks and get "The Generals" pizza.
It's very good, and I do enjoy it. Â I will also buy it again.
But the wait is long, and last time we went, we ordered a pizza to go. Â After we waited about 40 minutes, I asked them if it was ready. Â Our pizza ended up sitting on top of the oven for over 20 minutes while we were just waiting on it. Â The individual who took our order must have just passed it off like someone else would have taken care of it.
Sorry, but only 3 stars because the service aspect ruins the operations.
Just a quick update: the lunch service here is MUCH better than at dinnertime. Â It might be because this place is practically empty during the day. Â If you want to try the pizza, definitely go during the day rather than the evening. Â If you don't mind a wait, go ahead and test the waters later on.
Review Source:I was nervous because I heard that they had terrible service here, but I did not have such an experience. Â It was lunch and it wasn't too busy, but not dead either. Â We were thinking of splitting a small pizza but couldn't totally agree on toppings and the nice guy at the counter said why don't you do the lunch special. Â Two pieces of a large pizza and a drink. Â SOLD!! Â I went with the General and my lunch buddy went with pepperoni. Â I also should admit pizza is not my favorite thing to eat. Â Sometimes it can actually make me feel sick to my stomach if it is too doughy. Â I mean doughy as in raw texture of the dough. Â I am weird what can I say. Â I will eat it if I must and it was my buddy's turn to pick. Â I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of food they make at The Blind Onion. Â The crust was cooked very well and on it's own had good flavor. Â The pizza had a good balance of ingredients. Â I really enjoyed all the toppings and I actually ate both pieces (gym here I come). Â The sauce didn't have that tomato paste flavor some places have and it wasn't too spicy. Â I had just enough flavor and I think it helped make the pizza sing. Â It sang That's Amore if you must know. Â The decor is fun and I like how they have all the extras you can add in old 6 pack containers. Â They staff actually showed us those so we wouldn't forget and the girl brought the gigantic thing of honey and a side plate to pour some out on to. Â I will most definitely add this to pizza joints that I actually like the pizza from.
Review Source:After several more visits to this location and have now also had the same poor service as the majority of the reviewers here. Im not sure what is going on and why it is that the staff just doesn't care but WOW pizza has gotten as slow as Pizza Plus up the street and more than poor service. When you are told 30 min for your order and after an hour you finally get the order and it says 1 hour wait on the receipt!!!! Do the employees just not understand how to READ. I really hope someone gets it together at this location. Being a business owner myself I have a hard time writing a bad review but if its a spade call it one!!!
Review Source:Love the pizza, and since I always sit at the bar I have always gotten good service.
I have seen the looks on the faces of big parties waiting for their chow... Â not sure if the staff is just young or there is something else going on there but I would take a big group down to the Victorian Square location if I had to. Â
But to be very clear about "My" opinion of the Los Altos Pkwy location: Since I don't have any kids I sit at the bar with just a friend or two, and have gotten VERY GOOD service every time I have been in...
Chilly service, but lots of high chairs (I hate it when I have to be strategic about nabbing one before another family gets to it!), cool decor, and DELICIOUS pizza.
I'd like to give higher stars, but ordering from the obviously annoyed cashier when we first came in kind of killed it for me. My husband says he won't be back... But that pizza crust will haunt my dreams until I have it again.
I read the reviews expecting terrible service. I had already been to this location twice before reading the reviews. I love the pizza. Our service on previous visits was fine. Maybe I'm not a hard ass when it comes to service, as long as my needs are met, I'm cool. This time, after having read the negative reviews regarding the service, I was paying extra attention. I placed my order to go for 3 small pizzas and a beer. I intentionally did not leave a tip when I paid for the pizzas. I would leave my tip after my beer and getting my pizzas. I got my beer within 5 minutes and I settled down to observe the staff (and watch football). The staff did their jobs. Tables were cleaned, orders were taken, IDs checked, drinks served, food cooked and occasionally watch the TV for game scores. My pizzas arrived to me in 25 minutes. The order was correct. I left a fiver. I would have left more if I had it. Good job Blind Onion Staff!
Review Source:Have not been here before.
The place was empty when we arrived for lunch.
We ordered a small pizza or what it was called I do not know as my sister ordered it.
As I was looking over the menu I thought man that sounds gross, it was in response to several things I read.
So we sat and waited for our pizza, it was delivered by the young lady who took our order. She by the way was a very nice young lady.
We were very surprised... the pizza was great. Very fresh with each ingredient detectable while the blending was quite good.
The pizza I got was the  carnivore pizza and is great but the service was ridiculous. i was the only customer in there and stood waiting while some guy stood there talking on the phone talking to his friend. I mean is hard to hold the phone call real quick, don't you want my business? thought it was good pizza.  I won't be back to eat in the restaurant I'll go for carryout.  2 stars cause bad service. Pizza gets a 4!
Review Source:Always great food but awful and I mean awful service. This staff doesn't care how long you have waited or if they forgot to make something. I would've asked for the manager but based on these reviews I didn't bother. It is very apparent that the staff who runs this location has no food/customer service experience. I recommend going to one of the other Blind Onion locations. I will continue to go to the others even though I live close to the Los Altos location. (By the way don't bother asking the young man with the grey flat bill hat about the service because he has less experience than a wal mart greeter and made a joke about the fact my pizza was burnt and forgot to make my salad)
Please go to a different location!
While I know that this is one of the best pizza's in town; the overall professionalism at this location is poor. If you're willing to wait, or have your order made incorrectly, or be promised drinks that aren't on their menu (referring to beers, "sure, we've got!" then find out after you've paid that they don't, and don't appreciate refunds), it could be your place.
It's just a struggle to have to 'relearn' the rules of eating at a pizza place. Order a slice or a pie, grab cold drink, and enjoy. It really shouldn't be any harder than that. But it is. Â
There are other great places for pizza in Sparks. I'll go there knowing what to expect.
It's sad to have a such a great product destroyed by poor customer service.
Mmmm pizza, Susie and Loop de Loop....it doesnt get much better than that.
There may have been some snaffooooz there, especially since the facility is much larger than the other locations, but they are definitely working through them. The staff is awesome, the pizza is the best and is out a lot faster now that they put in the additional oven....and the beer. Dear lord the beer is glorious!!!! Give them a chance...
As a resident of Wingfield Springs, this restaurant was a welcome addition to North Sparks/Spanish Springs.  This place has a great beer selection (all craft beers), and delicious pizza.  Having said this, their wings aren't the best.  Not sure if they have a fryer, they taste soft and baked in an oven.  But the pizza makes up for this tenfold. Great braided dough, with thin dough in the middle, perfect amount of cheese to topping ratio, and fantastic sauce. A little spendy for pizza, but finally provides a bar where you feel comfortable hanging out and  tipping a few back.  A rarity up here in the burbs.
Review Source:I have heard so much about blind onion being a great place. I must've caught them on a bad day. Order taker was indifferent and seem to care less if she took my order or not. My wife went to find a table and couldn't find a clean one and when told the order taker she basically shrugged it off  Waited what seemed like an eternity for our food. The order arrived and it was just my wife's sandwich. She took a bite and the chicken in the sandwich was cold and the cheese on the bottom of the sandwich was not even melted. Finally found a manager to express our complaint and he gratefully refunded our money. It took him an additional 5 minutes for him to bring out the refund and the pizza still had not arrived. So I ordered it to go.  If the sandwich had been okay my wife would have been finished before my pizza had arrived.
The only thing that saves this review from a 1 star  is the professional manner in which the manager attempted to please our situation however I'm not sure even with a free pizza upon my return,  I will think a long time before going back to this restaurant. What a shame.  I certainly have other places to spend my hard earned money.
Maybe the manager should find another resturant to run where his talents would not be wasted by this resturant reputation it is getting.
I drove pass this place a couple of times and it always had a packed house. That intrigued me. We finally made it there on a Thursday night, again packed house, a line out the door just to order. We ordered one med. pizza and pesto chips and 2 drinks. We sat down and waited patiently. My husband and I always end up talking and sharing stories of our day when we eat out on a weekday and totally forget the time. Finally I realized we had been sitting there for about 45 mins. and I look over and the table next to us just had their pizzas delivered to them, they had about four pizzas. That table also sat down about 10-15 mins after we sat down. Also a couple behind us sat down about 20 mins after us and they too had their order as well. The place was even more packed and the line even longer out the door. I stood up to try and talk to or even just flag someone down to get some help. That was a chore because everyone was running around all over the place. Finally got someone ones attention and asked them about my pizza he went to check and brought out 2 boxes with our order inside and said they were sitting up there for us to pick up. I explained that we did not order to-go and that we had been sitting here for almost an hour now waiting. He was very apologetic and asked if I wanted to re-do my pizza. I said no, but asked to speak to a manager. The manager also very apologetic and offered me more pizza or a fresh one. I said no thank you, we were starving. But he did refund all of our money. He explained that they were way under staffed and that he was very sorry. Â
I am not sure that we will go back to this location. The pizza's were so-so...the pesto chips, (not really chips, but pesto pizza sliced up) were better then the actually pizza. Both things were not horrible, but also not memorable.
Tonight was the 1st time my family and I have been to The Blind Onion. Our service was great, the food was delicious. The wait wasn't too bad for a Friday night packed full of basket ball fans and little kids after baseball games. We will be eating here again and I would recommend them to any of my friends.
Review Source:We were told it would be 30 minutes for our pizza and two salad's received a number and were told that they would get the salads right out to us. Â
After 45 minutes we asked why we didn't have our food yet. We were told that it was ready, to go! Â They had it sitting in the to go area waiting for us. We told them that we had not ordered it to go. They said they would bring it to us. Â When we got it, the salads had the wrong dressing and our pizza was cold.
The Staff that delivered the food looked like they were totally clueless when we asked to see the Manager. Â They said they would send him over. Â We waited and the Manager did not come, so I got up and went to the counter and asked for him.
When I finally got to speak to the Manager, I explained to him the situation and he immediately started making excuses. Â I told him that why it happened didn't really matter and I asked for our money back so we could leave. The Manager wanted to keep trying to make excuses. I finally told him I just wanted my money back and that I would not be returning.
I have no idea if their pizza is good, but I can for sure tell you that the service is horrible. Â We will not return and I recommend that you do not go their either.
Blind Onion has been some of my favorite pizza for a long time. Â Luckily, this Blind Onion held up the delicious food that every other Blind Onion has. Â That being said, I don't know if it was because this place is new or what, but it took forever to get our food. Â Additionally, I called the make reservations because we were going to have a party of 13. Â They said that I couldn't make reservations after 6 on Friday or Saturday (isn't that when you normally need reservations??). Â However, when we got there, there was a reservation table for 10 people at 6:00 because they couldn't get a hold of the person to cancel the reservation. Â Had I not answered my phone, then would I have gotten my reservation??
Needless to say, I may have to try it again when it's not so busy.
Can't believe I paid for that. Not sure what all the rave is about, this place has bad food. Pizza and wings were horrible for 30 dollars it should at least taste good. Don't get a topping I got one little piece of sausage per slice not worth it. There was also very little sauce I mean very little felt like I was eating cheese and dough. Speaking of dough the outside edge of the pizza is ridiculous way to much dough, wish I could return the outside edge and get another pizza plenty of wasted pizza dough or maybe trade it for some sauce. The wings were plain no taste what so ever ordered them medium but they were favor less. Save yourself 30 dollars and disappointment go to Papa Johns for $11 or just get a microwave pizza both will be better. So really funny when I was ordering medium wings the person I was ordering from asked another person if they had medium sized wings. Really think I was 5 when I knew what mild, medium, and spicy wings were......there is your clue Batman avoid.
Review Source:I have to agree with D.L. Â We paid way too much for what we received. Â This was our first visit here and by the number of cars in the parking lot and fact that the place had almost every table occupied we expected more. Â The $25.00 for a large carnivore would have been money better spent elsewhere. Â When I order a pizza like that I expect it to be overflowing with meat. Â The crust while appealing looking was bland and flavorless. Â The ranch dressing provided to dip the leftover crust into tasted like an uninspired bottled sysco variety. Â I would like to say I want to return, but I don't even feel it is up to Papa Murphy's quality and I can make that at home. Â Even the Costco all meat pizza I brought home a couple of weeks ago was better than this.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I love pizza. Â Its not something we take lightly. Â Having said that, this place has the potential to be the best in town.
We LOVE their pizza. Â You want fresh pizza made with care and an eye for ingredients? Â You really cant do better in Reno/Sparks. Â The dough is fluffy and perfect. Â The sauces are amazing. Â The veggies are fresh and crisp, and all of the ingredients, married up with their sauces, work perfectly.
That being said, this place needs......tweaking. Â Three words: Â UNIFORMS, SERVICE, PROFESSIONALISM. Most employees are walking around like they just left class from the high school down the street. Â There is no differenciating who an employee is or who a customer is. Â Uniformity would really add to the cohesiveness. Â This place isn't a small joint on Victorian anymore. Â Its a chain, and recognized as one. Â Start showing the professionalism...
Next: Â SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE. Â We've never been okay with sitting at a bar and waiting 20 minutes with an empty couple of glasses in front of us. Â If you are in the area, scope out your bar. Â Notice. Â Its not that hard on a Monday when its totally dead. Be PROFESSIONAL. Â If you work here, let the other employees serve you. Â Don't show up, off shift, looking like a gang banger and walk behind the bar and fill your own drinks. Â It looks VERY tacky and incredibly unrefined. Â We like dive bars in this city, but we don't expect this place to be one of them.
This place has MOUNDS of potential. Â The food is literally incredible. Â Imagine how amazing the PLACE would be if it compared....
When I arrived on a Friday night the place was completely packed; there were absolutely no tables! Â Luckily I spotted a space at the bar and quickly filled the only available spot. Â The menus are in the front of the restaurant and when I was ready to order I ordered with the bartender. Â If I had been at a table I would have had to order at the register.
I settled on a side salad with Italian dressing for $4.00, their pesto chips for $6.75, and their medium chicken Parmesan pizza which consists of Fred's red sauce, mozzarella, chicken breast, Parmesan, and fresh herbs for $16.75. Â I also asked to add Spinach onto it but never ended up getting it. Â Good news is they comped two beers and a wine to make up for the mishap.
The only problem that occurred happened at the end of the meal. Â I had requested a wine which the bartender said he was going to get but then I never received one until I had to ask another bartender; the first guy had completely disappeared! The place had started to clear out by the time I'd finished eating and it still took forever to get my check. Â The 2nd bartender spent most of her time talking to another employee sitting at the bar drinking; I assume at this point the employee was off duty. Â Then when I got my check not all the drinks that were supposed to be comped were off the bill and it took a good 10 to 15 minutes to get the bartenders attention in order to have the check changed. Â It took another 10 minutes to get my card back.
All in all I would say Blind Onion on Los Altos has terrific food but it is obvious they have some major kinks to work out with their timing and follow up. Â I recommend waiting to go here until they work those kinks out and even then give yourself a lot of time to eat there as it takes a while.
