Blu Lounge Soundbar

The bouncer was overly physical for no good reason.  He grabbed my boyfriend and I by the throats and threw us into the street for dancing on a small table for five seconds.  He could have just asked us to get off and we wouldn't have argued.  The excessive physical force makes me uncomfortable to go back.

New to the area, and wanted to go to a dance club, seeing there aren't too many the Lexington area has to offer. The cover was $5 (Saturday), ordered a few drinks, had quick service, drinks were moderately priced, the DJ was great, loved the music, had a nice sized area for dance, lots of seating, upstairs was packed with plenty of tvs all around. This is such a nice bar! It was mostly all gay and young people. The guys do try to take over the dance floor, and show out, but it was interesting to watch. The girls were friendly though. We had a lot of fun, would go back for a night of dancing again.

Although technically a straight bar, Soundbar has such a large following from the gay community that makes it a gay bar in everything but name.

The atmosphere of this bar caters to its younger clientele, who are mostly college students.  The people here may at times be rude and stuck-up, but it comes with the territory of a trendier bar.

The main thing Soundbar has to boast is its dance floor, which is usually jam-packed full of people on the weekends.  The music is also very loud, which may make conversing inside the bar difficult.  However, Soundbar has a fenced patio area complete with heat lamps behind its building, which is convenient for smokers and those who want to step outside for a breath of fresh air.

The staff of Soundbar may show favoritism, as they readily kick out people whom certain regulars may not like.  This also incidentally gives the bar a clique-ish feel, which is not helpful for new patrons or people from out of town.

Overall, Soundbar is worth visiting, but unless you are interested primarily in dancing, other bars are also worth your while to check out.
